I had a Samsung phone that suddenly wouldn't power on, so I took it to a repair shop near my work…read more They charged $80 just to diagnose the issue and told me it was a motherboard failure. For data recovery, they quoted $350 to start, plus $50 per hour after that, and said it could take 7-10 days, which sounded like it could get very expensive. I decided to get a second opinion. The next place examined my phone for free, confirmed it was the motherboard, and referred me to FixThis. I reached out to Pierre, and he responded quickly. After texting back and forth and getting all the details, I decided to ship my phone to him--even though I was initially skeptical about sending it across the country. Pierre mentioned he was backed up by 2-4 days, but to my surprise, he recovered my data within 2 days of receiving the phone. His communication was polite, professional, and consistently fast. The whole experience gave me a lot of confidence in his work. If I ever need similar services again, I'll definitely go back to FixThis. Truly trustworthy. Thank you Pierre!

After doing a little research, I decided to call a few other computer shops. Russ at First in Service was incredibly friendly, thorough, and helpful in explaining his recovery process while also explaining that there was no guarantee that he could recover the data. I decided it would be worth the 25 mile drive to have Russ look at it. He called a few hours later, shortly before closing on a Friday just to say, "I wanted you to be able to enjoy your weekend knowing that it looks like I can successfully recover everything." A few days later, he had copied all my data onto a new hard drive that is working perfectly. If I run into any computer problems in the future, Russ will be the first person I call!

The service request executed each time, on multiple different laptops, across multiple years, mirrored one of the range of possibilities - and timelines for each possibility - laid out after his initial hands on assessment. On my way to Russ, I travel by quite a few service providers, large and small, on my way from southern RI to Swansea I'd not take my laptops anywhere else. Absolutely "First in Service".

My laptop had a chipped corner, and I needed their help installing the graphics card updates. I was called a few days later, and they told me something was going on with my hard drive. Okay, I hadn't noticed anything, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I got it back just before the first of June, and it was running fairly well. Today, however, my computer came up with a blue screen. I brought it to Best Buy, as I wouldn't be able to get to PCW Computers before their closing time. Best Buy told me that I had been given a faulty hard drive. I know that companies do shit like that, give people faulty or not top-quality products so they have to keep going back. I'm not going to assume that's what happened, but I'm not exactly pleased to have a three month old hard drive shit the bed six days before I have to leave for college again. My friend, on the other hand, needed her keyboard replaced, and she's had no problems since. I suppose if it isn't directly related to any internal ware on the computer, they're decent at what they do.
