Help in the Time of Crisis!…read more On a recent business trip I had the horrible experience of having my external hard drive becoming unreadable/corrupted! Not knowing any better, I made an appointment with the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy, who qouted me $500-$2000 for an "advanced repair ATTEMPT"?!?!!? Distraught, I came to Altex and was quickly greeted by Matt and the store manager Jacob Wiese. Explaining my problem, they offered to attempt repair for a nominal charge- how reassuring! Jacob broke down the concepts of disc drives and solid state drives into terms I could understand [thank you!] - so I immediately purchased a new portable solid state drive. I left my "broken" hard drive with them- feeling much more confident in their skills. Within 2 days they called to inform me they were able to access the data and transfer it to the new SSD! While I am impressed with their technical expertise, I am MORE grateful for their kind, patient, customer-friendly demeanor- helping those of us who are novices and helplessly lost. My job as a professional nurse has been to help explain medical terms/procedures to patients who are confused and anxious. What a wonderful experience to meet computer professionals who are willing to help do the same thing when an anxious customer comes in. They have SO many options and categories of everything that I end up spending hours just seeing what's new. The employees are all very knowledgeable about the products and specifications. Just walking through the store is an inspiration whether it's gaming, networking, security or computers and accessories. The prices can sometimes be a little pricey but mostly competitive and high in quality. It's a great profession level option to Best Buy and other electronics places.

First employee we were in contact with told us another employee would help us. This employee pointed in the general direction of the second employee so we walked toward the pointed-at direction and asked employees if their name was "xxx" until we found the right one. We explained what we needed and this employee advised they could assist with product purchase only. Product was purchased so now we need someone to assist with the issues needing resolution. Second employee refers us back to first employee. We get same response......"Here, this employee will help you". Third employee immediately introduces themselves and you can tell they are not only LISTENING to the issues but WANTs to resolve them. (There IS difference between hearing and listening). It didn't take long at all before the issues were resolved and we were on our way out the door.

My phone died for absolutely no apparent reason on Friday. Tried charging with multiple chargers. Ubered to the Apple Store. Waited for 3 and a half hours! I was told phone had an issue and that it was all fixed and good to go. Before leaving I asked if they would give me a $49 phone charger for the huge inconvenience. They said they would offer me 10 percent off. Uh. No thank you. Went back because I felt upset for the entire day if inconvenience on their part. Asked to speak with a manager. New one was there told her my story. She flat out said no free charger. Called me a racist! I am NOT a racist. She was. And this was a manger ! She asked if. I needed escort out. I asked for what? Again she called me a racist and asked me to leave! Tonight after a week end of phone not charging completely. I went back. New manager. Told him my dilemma and asked if he would make it right and comp the $49 charger. At this point phone was dead AGAIN!! He charged it to 4 percent and said again try a different charger at home. I point blank said are you going to do the right thing and comp me the charger? He looked me dead in the eye and said no. I gave him 2 tries. The female manager who called me a racist was there again. I told him about it and said she. Needs to be disciplined or fired. She called Me a racist ! I left the store shaking my head and warned him of the upcoming Yelp review and nothing. NADAso here is my review of the Apple Store at Northstar Mall. Will never step foot in there again

The screen that was installed is not an OLED. Shahzada over charged and forced negotiations. The price in store was different than over the phone. Once we agreed on the product and price work began. I was then shown the phone very briefly to verify work was done and told there are no warranties of any sort. Not being in the industry I trusted that he did the work requested. He installed a low tier screen at a high tier price and did not disclose this. I called to discuss and he could not tell me what kind of screen was installed - he calls it a generic iPhone screen. It is terrible quality- glitchy, low brightness, battery draining, and makes your phone run hot. His pricing started at $450. We negotiated for an OLED for $200. An OLED was not installed. Do not do business here. The store does not keep the advertised hours. The one redeeming quality is that the work was done quickly.
