I recently spilled a glass of water on my laptop and no surprise, it stopped working. I took my laptop in to Computer Love based on the great reviews here on yelp and also because it's near my home. I wish I could report that my experience matched these other customers, but I had a pretty bad experience here. Computer Love offers a free diagnostic so I dropped off my computer to see what was wrong with it and if it could be fixed. The tech guy there assured me that this was the best place in town to bring my computer. A week goes by and there's no word from Computer Love. Another week goes by and I decide to contact them. The guy on the phone tells me that my computer hasn't been looked at. He says that he had been out of town the week before and the tech guy must have overlooked my computer. He then offers me a $10 discount and says that tech guy will look at my computer the next day. So my computer has been sitting there for two weeks and hasn't even been looked at. I guess that's what a 'free diagnostic' gets you. If a free diagnostic takes two weeks how long would it take them to actually do a repair? That afternoon I decide to pick up my computer and take it somewhere else. After I get my computer the guy at the store tells me 'oh, well, he did look at it and there's no power to it, and well it's pretty much fried'. I ask him which is it - on the phone you said no one had looked at it, but now you're saying it has been looked at. He said that the tech guy did look at it briefly and it's fried. Oh really... I walked two blocks down to another computer repair shop (eBits). I dropped it off and was called three days later to let me know that they can fix it and the cost was completely reasonable. If you really want some computer love - take your computer somewhere other than Computer Love. ** In response to Matt below: There's more to a customer service experience than how much someone is charged. I took my computer in with a mysterious problem that (naturally) went away the minute I took it into the Computer Love shop. So even though they weren't able to do anything (fortunately it's still working, knock on wood), they gave me several hours of attention including a full disc and virus scan, including a root kit scan. And for all of this they charged me absolutely nothing. The service was prompt, friendly and professional. I will definitely come back if I need to. The only thing to be aware of is that the entrance is inside a coffee shop (you have to cross thru the coffee shop to get to the stairs to their office). So it can be a bit tricky to find from the street. But once you figure it out, it's very accessible. read more

Matt is great, does his job very well. I'm extremely glad I went to get my computer fixed at Computer Love. I had tried a previous computer service along Aurora, forgot the name of the business, but was quoted a ridiculous price and then charged a separate check up fee. Nope, none of that happened at Computer Love, they have reasonable pricing, with a coupon online, super quick timing and great costumer service. It's been a few days since I got my computer and it is working better than before. Hopefully I won't have to be returning for a computer fix, but I will def recommend this business. read more

They told me that the problem was my external hard drive but it was the cord that I bought from the store Computer Love figured out what the problem was in 5 mins and even gave another cord to me for free! I had high hopes for this company, which had good ratings. They diagnosed my computer right away and left a message with the estimate. Then, when I called back to get more information and perhaps authorize the work, they ignored me for THREE WHOLE DAYS, despite repeated phone calls and emails. I was without connectivity except for my phone that whole time. When I finally connected with them, they had no explanation for their silence. I won't be talking to them again. read more

If you need data recovery, maybe this is the place for you. If you need real help, do not bother. Four days and five trips to their shop and neither of these two guys bothered to listen to what I said was the problem. I wasted so much time and energy here the refund can't even begin to make things up to me. And the rudeness when it was all over... I'm the customer pal. When I call you and tell you that you've wasted my time, the only words out of your mouth are, "I'm sorry. You're right. A phone call could have solved this." Your little tough guy text message at the end of all this, just proves to me what a punk you are. In the end, you couldn't fix the problem, though you claimed you worked on macs. If you'd run the test on day 1 that you should have, we could have spared each other a lot of headache. And you wouldn't be facing a 1-star review. I will never shop here again. read more

excellent! My giant media/game PC had a power cycling issue - I thought for sure I'd fried the MB/CPU while cleaning it.... Matt and his crew poked around for a week, testing everything out, and finally discovered that it was just a short in the reset button. The result: they saved me hundreds of dollars on labor/replacement parts (older 1156 chipset - difficult to source these days) and even gave my baby back to me with an awesome new video card and upgraded RAM. A waste of time driving over after being told that my issue (hard drive stuck in laptop and I needed to swap) would be looked over right away. The owner did not have any idea of what he was dealing with and just told me that he will need to have the electronics engineer look at it and I should come again next day. So basically, no qualified staff present to deliver the service. He kept saying that I could go to eBits and pay a couple of hundred dollars, which was completely irrelevant. I had to take my laptop elsewhere as I needed urgent help. The pricing did seem better compared to other places I have looked at, I hope they improve the service levels. read more

Disappointed. My computer was not fixed and no clear diagnosis of the problem was given. I never received a call as to the status of my computer and when I finally called for a status, TWICE, both times the person on the phone didn't seem to know what was going on. When I picked up my computer I was charged $50 for fixing what was thought to be the problem, but it wasn't working when I got it home. I ended up at Progressive Tech on Roosevelt. They charged $100 for a full diagnosis. They quickly identified the problem and had me out the door with a working computer in 2 days, no extra charges. It was worth paying $50 more for fast and competent service. read more

This is an update from the previous review. First, after I wrote the first review, I discovered that one of the USB sockets was broken. Then I discovered that the connection between the screen and the computer was never properly fixed. Finally, the computer stopped working altogether. Not only did Computer Love not fix the computer, they appear to have destroyed it. Perhaps the laptop was at the end of its life. But the technician's insistence that I had dropped it and then what followed from that leads me to suspect that it was indeed dropped--by the technician himself. I withdraw my suggestion that they may be competent. Competence includes a recognition of responsibility for the work done. Basically, I paid $180 for nothing. I would avoid these guys. read more

Really a great person. I checked in today evening for my laptop shutting down suddenly by heat. He sprayed near Air out part of the laptop and asked me to comeback if I find issue with cpu fan.Like a magic it cooled down no hot air no cs go game competitive cooldown now..Thank you computer love.He didnt even charge me. respect to you sir.. read more

I found Computer Love on Yelp, and saw they were offering a deal, so I chose them to help me with my dead laptop. It had been crashed for a year, and I just put it up in my closet to be dealt with later. Finally I decided to see if it could be salvaged as I had tons of pictures of my poor pug who passed last year. Matt didn't charge for a diagnosis, found that my hard drive had failed, and brought it back to life. All of the pictures were back, as well as tax documents, etc. He added more RAM, and now it's like I have a brand new computer! Matt is my hero! read more

yay! i'm in love with computer love!! seriously. this was an awesome end to a very frightening day. after i dropped my laptop and found that my computer wouldn't start, i dialed these guys up, and within a mere few hours - all was well! they were super quick, friendly, FAIR, and effective! i was even offered a cheaper alternative for a replacement hard drive b/c i didn't need one that had as much space as my previous one did (don't ask me for more specifics than that). I recently discovered Computer Love. It is a bit hidden inside and up the stairs at the Bluebird ice cream store - but worth the find! I brought in my laptop because of a problem I was having with a program. The owner could have told me to leave the laptop and charge me a diagnostic fee. Instead, he told me to open it up, show him the issue, it was fixed, and told me how to address it in the future. After being dissatisfied with the service at another local shop - I finally found a smart, honest provider who didn't try to rip me off! Definitely going back if I need help in the future! read more

When my laptop stopped being able to access wireless networks, I took it to Computer Love. Although the guys were busy with other jobs, Matt kindly stopped what he was doing and took a look. He quickly ascertained that my anti-virus software was causing the problem, un-installed it, and installed a better anti-virus product. Problem solved, and the whole visit took about 15 minutes start to finish. Well worth the $29 bill to avoid further lost productivity. Having issues with my laptop booting up. Was able to drop it off same day and there wasn't a lead time of a week or more to have it looked at. The diagnostic was free (which I was very appreciative of) and results confirmed a battery that needed replacing. Elected to do that myself. The owner understood and was very accommodating. This place saved me. I called Computer Love frantically after my laptop screen was damaged while on a business trip. This was a brand new laptop so I knew nothing about it, but Matt had plenty of patience for me on the phone while we tried to figure out what to do, and he told me to come in right away. I was bummed because most places I looked at, including Computer Love, said that turnaround time for a screen repair can be a couple days (even longer in my case because the screen I needed wasn't in stock), which seems appropriate and would normally be fine except that I was scheduled to fly out in 2 days. Matt and his team went the extra mile to meet my timeline by overnighting a new screen and then doing a ridiculously fast repair so I could have it back before flying out. Matt kept me informed the whole time, and the price was super reasonable. The whole process took less than 36 hours and I could not be more thankful. Highly recommend. read more

I dropped my MacBook Pro and that afternoon stopped by Computer Love to get it fixed. While the computer turned on, it was acting funny and I knew something was wrong. (Dropping this machine inevitably had consequences.) Matt told me that I could drop it off and that they'd contact me within 24 hours to tell me what was wrong. Which they did. Turned out the hard drive was broken and they could replace it and do data recovery as well. As I had everything backed up, I opted for the hard drive replacement only, which they replaced that same day! I thought fixing an Apple product was going to be a drawn out, expensive, torturous process, but Matt and the Computer Love team made it seem like they were changing batteries in a calculator. These guys were speedy, inexpensive, and super friendly. My computer is restored and should any future accidents occur, I will definitely be back. read more

You never want to be at a place like this but they do a good job. My HD died just after the warranty expired (of course!) They replaced it quickly. My laptop came with Windows 8 which I always hated as it was awkward to use and seemed to cause problems. They put me back to Windows 7 with the new HD at no charge.
