Instead of trying to sell me on his service, he told me that there was an extended recall going on and I could go to Apple to get my computer serviced for free. He printed out specific paperwork that I should show them. He could have easily not told me about the free service at Apple and had me pay him to service my computer at his place. Who does that?? I was really impressed with their whole operation. A virus had corrupted some of my software. Went to Geek Squad and they were going to charge me $130 which I found out was their flat rate for any service. Not only did the docs fix the problem for $65, they also advised me on the best free Antivirus program and installed it for free. I worked with Victor who advised me on ways to help keep my computer functioning better which I was so grateful for. I highly recommend computer doctors. read more

While they aren't super cheap, they were super friendly. They bring you in and talk to you about your problems and potential solutions without trying to sell you anything or push anything, and they did a great deal to calm my frazzled mind after my computer got taken over by a particularly nasty virus. Took in my Mac to have them check to see why it was overheating. They did a thorough cleaning which seemed to help a great deal. I can't really overemphasize how polite and professional these people were. While I hope I don't have to return soon for another repair, I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs repair work done on their computer. Beware of this place! I brought my computer in desperately seeking help. but I specifically said to them: "If the repairs cost more than $250, do not fix anything and please let me know! I would rather put that money toward a new computer". So I left my laptop overnight for a diagnostic and the associate (I think it was Victor) proceeded to charge me for removing some viruses as way to get me to purchase fixing the rest of it. He went against my instructions to begin with. I knew my computer needed more than a half-ass virus removable. As a result, my computer KEEPS freezing (regardless of all the mumbo jumbo he did) which was one of its initial problems. It literally froze 3 times this whole weekend! They have not ONCE offered to take a look at the problem again....insisting that my computer keeps freezing because I do not use it on a flat surface...instead of coming up with something ridiculous like that, how bout you help me solve the probem??? WOW! Brought my HP laptop in to these guys as it was not displaying properly. Turns out it was a simple settings fix, but they took extra time to run a diagnostic and a viral scan as well. We sat and chatted for awhile and I must say these guys are possibly the most knowledgeable experts I've ever encountered, including IT support at various jobs I've had throughout my career. AND, they didn't charge me a thing! I tried to pay them at least for their time, but they wouldn't take my money. I can't say enough good things about Computer Doctors. Since I found them 7 years ago (thanks to their great Yelp reviews back then) they've helped me through 3 successive computers, fixing various problems when they arose and keeping my work life running smoothly. The last issue with a Windows update would have required a complete new install of the OS if Victor and Joshua had not stayed up all night to figure a work around to save my data. They wouldn't hear of charging extra for their overtime either, even though it would have been fair and justified. They are just incredibly kind and conscientious. I completely trust these guys with my computer and important information. They are honest, highly skilled, love what they do and really care about their customers. Even though I don't need to come in that often, they remember me and have made the effort to get to know me over the years. I have to admit...I found it hard to believe all of the 5 star reviews these guys got...but you can believe them. I have pretty old computer that ran great but had NO memory left. I spent a couple of weeks trying to clone the PATA hard drive. I gave up and took my computer and all the spare parts I had acquired to Computer Doctors. In 2 days I had a like new computer running an SSD hard drive with all my files and connections intact. They were pretty inexpensive (especially given the time I had already invested) and worth every cent. They are clearly my go to place! read more

I was a little nervous since I'm new to LA and this was the first time my computer stopped working since I moved here. Was apprehensive about only having the Yelp reviews to go off, but glad I trusted them. These guys were fast and very knowledgable. The price of the repairs was reasonable too - I was actually bracing myself to hear the bill add up but it didn't! They also added an antivirus program to my laptop, which was desperately needed. The icing on top was that they dusted off my computer and got all the fingerprints off it too. I'm a little weird about that stuff and was impressed by how nice and neat they left it. I walked and took a Lyft from here, but there's an actual parking lot in front of the place and it's easy to get to. Just go up to the second floor of the mall and you'll see the store. I bought a new Acer V5 laptop for gaming and multimedia...but it was preloaded with Windows 8. I'm an old dog and didn't want to learn a new trick so based on their excellent reviews, I brought it here. I purchased a new OEM Copy of Win 7 Home Premium, a SAMSUNG SSD, a RAM stick and let them have at it. The laptop was an ACER V5-552G-X852. I had read horror stories at the Acer website of not being able to find the correct drivers for the USB 3.0 ports for Win 7 and didn't need the headache. They went the extra mile. The first time I picked it up and got it home for a while, it worked great...and then a couple of drivers went out and I had a yellow exclamation point in the Device Manager. They initially tried to fix it remotely and that didn't work. I brought it back the next day. They bent over backwards finding the correct drivers to make it work...even drivers from other manufacturer's that I would never have even thought of. Now it's perfect, the SSD boots in 12 seconds and I'm running Raedon dual graphics in SLI. If I had tried it myself, it probably would have ended up at the bottom of the pool. Good guys, and honest. I love this place! Victor is the best. Computer Doctors are very clean, organized, and knowledgeable. They take time to confirm they understand what your issue is and neatly organize your cords and components. Victor also kindly answered a bunch of my noob questions and helpfully suggested what options I may have for repairs and upgrades. I discovered Computer Doctors here on Yelp and they definitely deserve their 5 star rating. I came here to recover data from a dead hard drive. General diagnostics for the computer is free and the data recovery charge is ranged with a minimum and maximum, so that if the recovery is free of additional complications, you pay less than the standard rate for more complex recoveries. Of course, the severity of your issue is largely up to chance, but it is nice that they are so fair. They can also wipe your busted hard drives and pass them onto the recycling company that comes monthly. Turnaround is also pretty swift, and if you call ahead, (depending on your issue) they can tell you approximately how long a repair time to expect given their workload for that day. In my experience, since I brought an empty external HD for the recovered data, it was a next-day fix. They managed to save my data and even maintain much of the folder structure. They also cleaned out the dust from the inside of my desktop, which for all I know is basic best practice but it was nice either way. I'll be returning to them for all of my computer repairs for sure! read more

Very happy with the customer service they provided. My wife's laptop was shutting off and not powering back up. They were able to get it back on, but they warned us that there might be a hairline crack in the motherboard, and it might not last. Sure enough, a day or two later, it shut off again. Took it back, they got it back on, gave us a flash drive with a backup of all data, and refunded us $50. They only charged for the data backup, despite having worked on the machine twice. Service was very friendly, and people working there seemed genuinely kind. Would definitely go back if another computer needed work done. read more

My Android cell phone was damaged to the point that my pictures and contacts could not be transferred to my new phone. I was not concerned about my contacts, since I could re-input them, but my pictures were irreplaceable! I knew they were on my SD card and started trying to retrieve them. My laptop card slot was too big for my little SD card. I went to my favorite Photo Printing Place and found my little SD card could be read, but there were so many other files from apps and internet surfing that their computer was over whelmed and my pictures could not be saved. I started researching SD card readers and figuring out what I needed to buy. Then someone recommended a computer repair place "over by Rite Aid on Anza and PCH"! A couple of weeks later my husband and I cruised through the Begonia Farm Plaza trying to figure out where the "computer repair place, over by Rite Aid" was. That's how we found Computer Doctor. We waited behind a couple who were picking up their computer that had been cleansed of many computer viruses and being instructed on how to protect their computer in the future. My dilemma was not a computer repair issue but they sympathize and got creative on how to help me. I am happy to say I am now in possession of a CD with my pictures!!! Their customer service never ceases to amaze me! Today's visit was a little embarrassing for me because I thought my PC had truly met it's demise after I downloaded and reinstalled my McAfee Internet Suite because all I got after it restarted was a blank screen and Windows wasn't even running (gaaahhhh!!!)! I called them and spoke with Bryan, the guy that worked on my PC, and he listened and told me to just bring it in so that they could have a look. So hubby and I came in today and Victor, who was at the front desk, even took the PC tower from my hubby and said he'll be with us shortly since there was another customer ahead of us checking out. After they were done he escorted us to the back and he even remembered that this was the PC Bryan had been working on. Now this was the embarrassing part. After he plugged it in and turned it on the Windows logo started. I told him that it didn't do that Saturday evening until Sunday morning. He said that we should wait first and see what happens and sure enough my McAfee Internet Suite was the culprit. He gave a very good explanation on what happened which eased my embarrassment. After we checked to see what else needed to be done he gave me some helpful tips on what to do. We were able to meet Bryan on the way out and this visit was free! Been here twice on DC adapter problems with my notebook. FREE DIAGNOSIS! Before coming here for the first time I did call around to at least 7 or 8 shops within L.A. No one offers free diagnosis. Best I was able to find was a shop charging me to diagnose the problem and then transfer that fee towards the (pricy) cost for repairing my computer. These guys did it for free. They explained clearly what was causing the problem then offered to repair it. Couldnt find anyone to beat their $125 fee. Yes, it's pricy but what notebook problem isn't? Thats one of the cons of owning a laptop. Even the cheaper shops were charging a fee slightly higher then Computer Doctor's $125. Add their diagnosis fee and their total was coming out to near or over $200. Couldnt beat Computer Doctors, so I gave them a shot. Very friendly and professional staff. Clean offices. Had my PC ready within a day after handing it to them. Once there to pick it up, they sit you down and explain the problem and steps they took to resolve it as well as suggestions I can take to avoid this problem. They also turn your PC on and briefly work on it to ensure it is working properly. After the second visit and having them school me for a second time on investing on a chill pad, I took their advice. Bought a cheap-oh $10 chill pad from Pick N'Save (LOL yes Pick N Save aka Big Lots) and my notebook's been running top knotch since then. With these economic times people and businesses are forced to make some changes so I'd advice you call up and ask if they have a free diagnosis services. Hopefully they havent changed this service because it really made a difference on whether or not I'd give them my business and was a big reason for me saving some money. read more

Honestly one of the best experiences I have had in any repair industry. I panicked when I spilled water on my 5-month old Dell XPS, but the staff was responsive, honest, and very polite. I left my computer with them for three days at which point they were able to give me a quote to replace the motherboard. It ended up being significantly more expense for them to repair it than for me to send it back to Dell (to be expected) and so they didn't charge me a thing. I was handed back my computer with no hassle at all. If anything happens to any of my electronics again you better believe they will be my first call. read more

Needed a repair for Samsung 3 in 1 computer didn't know where to go so I used Yelp as a reference. After checking for "most reviews" I decided to go with Computers Doctor as my choice. Greeted nicely by Victor who hooked up my computer to see what wrong. After explaining to him what's wrong (slow performance, wireless keyboard unresponsive, upgrade my window software from 8 to 10 and long overdue tune-up due to no antivirus protection). He said he would get to working with possible ready date of Saturday (came on a Thursday). I do want to note that even though their store are from 9-6 weekdays 9-5 on Saturday. They continue working on the computers passed the store hours until 11. As promise computer was ready on Saturday with a service charge of $95. He was able to accomplish everything but getting the keyboard to work as it became INOP after he tried to repair but overall good service IMO. read more

These guys are awesome. I brought in an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier/fax that had JUST come out of warranty and had a recurring error. Victor said they would diagnose it for free and let me know if it was worth repairing. The estimate: $35, IF they could get it to work by cleaning everything. They called me back in about a day in a half (really quick imho). Turns out, they COMPLETELY checked it out (they used a voltmeter, examined the paper pathways, etc), and it was a sensor, so it wasn't worth repairing, but I really appreciated their commitment to customer service. The cost: $0. I will be going back if I have problems with any other gear. This place is a gem. read more

Wow, these guys are truly the best. Went in their shop because my MacBook Air had been water damaged. They took my laptop in to check how bad the damage was and if it was going to be fixable. They actually took their time to check the laptop thoroughly and called me to keep me updated on the work they were performing. After two days, they called me one last time and told me that it was going to cost me more to fix it and I'll be better off buying another one. They did all of this for free, yes free of charge. I had to write this review, it was the least I could have done for them. They are truly honest and sincere people and for that reason they won another returning customer. Run! Go somewhere else! I thought they were professional, and they seem to be, and maybe it was some rogue agent who messed up my computer, but don't take that chance! I have a Toshiba laptop, and the hinge was messed up, this is HARDWARE mind you. They fixed it, but needed the password to see if the screen and webcam still worked, I gave it to them. Keep in mind that I was out of school by the time I let them fix it, since I needed it for my studies. Once they fixed the hardware, the let me log on to see if everything was fine, and it was, but I haven't turned the laptop on the whole Winter break (i.e., XMAS, New Years) until I got back to school, which is now. (I only use the laptop for school). And let me tell you, my computer was fine, it turned on quickly and everything. Now most of my Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus software programs don't work! And who knows what else, I haven't checked, since it's unbelievable SLOW!!! And when I managed to run one anti-virus program it found Trojans! Keep in mind that the last people to mess around with it was these guys! Now I'm trying to fix it, as best as I can, and make my malware and virus programs start working again, but use my horrible experience as an example. My computer had a hardware program, which was fixed, but it now has a worse software problem! If I would have known, I would have went somewhere else, or just have a messed up hinge! I need my computer, it's my last quarter of college! Now, I emailed them, and I'll let update if anything is solved. Keep away if possible!! UPDATE: It keeps that they uninstalled my anti-virus and anti-malware programs, did whatever they wanted to do, then installed them again. I checked my Control Panel, and found that they reinstalled the wrong program, which is how I know! I paid for one of them, which is why it doesn't work anymore, I'll probably have to pay for it AGAIN! Now this confirms that they're a bunch of terrible, horrible people, who probably think that I'll come back because my computer is messed up! Well they can go F**K themselves. UPDATE - EMAIL: They replied saying they were blameless, that they have no idea how the Trojan got on my system, even though they were the last people to log on, and the computer was fine beforehand. read more
