I received "No" after "No", but Ray reached out and said he had an idea. My gaming laptop was no longer powering on and due to its model, essentially every repair shop said they couldn't handle it. I was able to come by and drop off my laptop for a diagnostic check. An hour later Ray was done and sent me a highly detailed Diagnostic report with findings, causes, and recommendations. My issue required a full motherboard replacement so we weren't able to proceed with any fixes. Regardless, I am grateful to the expertise and support Ray has given me for the laptop. If I have any other pc issues in the future, I would return to TechCare, they know what they're talking about!

I told him to do his best to save my data. The next day he texted me with a quote and said that he would be able to fix it and save my data. I told him to fix it. About 3 hours later he texted me again and said to come on by and pick it up. Now when I arrived he didn't just give me my computer and send me on my way, he sat me down and explained that I have 3 different options to save my data just in case the hard drive or computer crashes in the future. He also said that if I'm not sure how to back up the hard drive or need help with anything to call him and he would walk me through it. When all was said and done, he charged me $299 out the door and my machine is working flawlessly!! Thank you Ray! You got a customer for life.

Despite the severe damage, Kotar successfully recovered 100% of my data, and I am incredibly happy to have everything back. I trusted them from the start because of their "no data, no charge" policy. What makes them even better is that they are a trustworthy, local business right here in San Jose. Based on the serial number he was able to tell if my warranty was still valid. He took time out to assist as well as was possible over the phone. I ended up visiting their shop in San Jose (Brokaw area) on Murphy Ave the next day. He checked it over and quickly determined that it was something simple having to do with not having completed some updates. it's a mystery to me how he knew all this, but he is the expert after all. It turned out to be a quick fix. Obviously that may not always be in the cards but it was this time. Eduardo and Jesus (and others in their crew) are always polite, personable and super smart. Their rates are fair and I will always go to them for repairs. By the way, Eduardo mentioned that he and his team opened another shop, this one in downtown Saratoga on Big Basin Way. It has a different name... It's called YeaMac. I don't hope for more problems with my laptop, iPhone etc. but if a problem arises I know exactly where to go to get resolution.

The diagnosis was simply that a "power chip" was damaged, and they recommended replacing the entire motherboard for about $690 because they don't do chip-level repairs. They also charged me for the diagnostic ~$100, even though their website advertises a free diagnostic. The laptop still smells strongly of coffee, which also made me question whether it was actually cleaned or how thorough the cleaning was. Overall, the turnaround was longer than promised, communication required follow-up, and the diagnosis was too vague to give me confidence in spending nearly $700 on a motherboard replacement.
