Everything is made fresh and for a trendy spot the prices are so reasonable especially compared to some of the trendy food places in this area that try to charge $20 for breakfast. I'm a vegetarian and they're also super accommodating to requests to change or customize an item on the menu. The smoothies and coffee drinks are really good also I had the COFFEE BLEND and it was so good! The staff and owners are also super friendly and seem like genuinely nice people. My boyfriend had the burger which the owner recommended (it's not on the menu). It was made with caramelized onions, bacon, cheese and on Texas Toast. He loved it! read more

So I like this place...NGL. Price point of sandwiches on avg. are ~$14, but are pretty big and hearty ( SEE PICS). As far as sammies go, I have so far tried the BELIEF, GREENPOINTER, ROB and the SPENCER ( sometimes too pepper heavy for my tastes). Typically I order the ROB and SPENCER and I'm sure one day will explore more of the menu, but for right now, those two work and are my go tos. I prefer them toasted, as I am not super close to the restaurant and it sometimes helps w the inevitable 'sog' that may happen w a traveling sandwich w so many wet ingredients. Interesting menu offerings as in addition to breakfast and lunch sandwiches they also offer some Italian fare. Mozzarella sticks, burrata based sandwiches, rice balls, etc and also have some latin inclusions w churros as a dessert option. I have also tried the rice balls ( can pass on those... I have had better arancini), strawberry churros ( a tasty indulgence whether filled or not ) and tater tots ( but who can go wrong w tater tots) I have only ever had delivery so I cannot speak to the attitude of the team, but what I can say is that I did once call to ask a request of the establishment to include more of their menu on the Uber Eats platform and he was kind enough to explain why it was not quite updated with all of their offerings, but mentioned that the restaurant is in the process of revisiting this. No tone or sass, but a generally friendly sounding dude. I can also say that w the exception of one occurrence out of MANY orders placed, the staff adheres to notes, which I appreciate because let's be real, we hate when there is a section for notes and no one reads and follows feasible requests. I also think that they pay attention to reoccurring clientele as once in a while I will find an addtl sweet treat sent along with my order, which is pretty dang thoughtful. Mixed feelings about my first order. I splurged on the lobster roll and seasoned fries after seeing the description and picture and then when it arrived the fries were unseasoned at all and the lobster was 95% lobster shreds (think coleslaw consistency). I was pissed, but after eating it the lobster tasted fresh and was not skimping in quantity (although WAY too wet with mayo) so I will give Comptons another shot, just not the lobster roll. OH MY GOD. I don't like breakfast sandwiches, but I will go out of my way to have a breakfast sandwich at Compton. It is also probably the only breakfast sandwich I will ever eat. I definitely made the right decision by eating the breakfast sandwich immediately after it was cooked up so I could taste the melted cheese paired with the toasted bread and a warm sausage patty. I really wouldn't have it any other way. One star knocked off because I just didn't love the Tony I had, would need to give it another go and I wasn't a big fan of the Cold Fashioned although I give them credit for being inspirational with their drinks and creating something new! There are three chairs right at the cashier for bar seating as well as four more along the windows so that you can hang out and enjoy your sandwich. I have had this place saved on my list of places I needed to try in Astoria and I finally took a chance and recently just got The Bruce delivered to my place and wow what a sandwich! Usually, I'm not a fan of a HUGE sandwich but this one is SO good. I noticed delivery was taking a little bit so I had called just to confirm that they had the address right and I was so happy with the great customer service and even happier when my sandwich arrived. Finally I had a chance and it was during our great pandemic. This place is just awesome. Customer service, cleanliness, and the vibe of the place. It's retro/punk in my opinion. There's ample sandwiches to choose from, and all of them delicious. The patty melt is juicy and done right. Mozzarella sticks are great. Meat stacked high on my hero. Deliciousness in every bite. When they first opened used to be a great sandwich spot. Second time I order breakfast sandwich in the past 2 weeks and quality of both and sandwich and the coffee has gone down significant. I've been to Compton's a handful of times and tried a verity of sandwiches and sides. Food is tasty but service could improve, especially for the price. Today's experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Ordered online for pick up, I arrived to the store 2 mins after the order was marked 'ready for pickup' on the app. I then waited, 30 mins, while people who ordered after me, received their food and started eating/leaving the restaurant. Everyone's time is valuable and working in the area requires me to efficient when deciding where to order food from. The person at the counter was externally rude. Minimal eye contact and communication. When order was finally ready items were sadly thrown in the bag and slammed on the counter multiple times. I, the customer, even thanked the counter boy after this and he returned no eye contact or kind words for my patronage. Only time he spoke was when asking another person if they wanted to tip after taking their order. Totally undeserving. Finally - my biggest pet peeve. When I order something and the specified toppings/sauces are not included, I am very angry. As now you've tricked me into eating something that is not exactly how I expected. If I read online something comes with bleu cheese, it needs to included. My sandwich, is supposed to have yellow cheddar not whatever you have on hand. All in all consistency is key. This is not the first time a sauce has been forgotten or a condiment has been substituted. You guys have been open for some time now, its time to get in the grove of things & perform at the standards you've set your prices. Compton's is such a nice local sandwich shop in Astoria. It's a small shop mainly for takeout, but when the weather is nice, they have a few tables to sit at outside. Parking in the area wasn't hard to find since it is located near residential areas. I visited with my girlfriend because she was able to be a part of the Yelp Event. There were so many options of sandwiches and breakfast items to choose from, but we went with the breakfast burrito. It's such a simple and classic breakfast item, and Compton's made it so delicious. It came out fresh and hot and was packed with so much stuff. The hashbrown was crispy and salty. The eggs were truly soft scrambled with cheese melted all over. The sausage reminds me of the sausages you'd get at hotels, which are my favorite. The combination of it all and red pepper aioli to top it off was delicious. Yes, they were open and we definitely wanted something to fill our stomachs after a long night of drinking. Paralyzed by indecision, I ordered 2 sandwiches, a side of corn fritters, and a Poppi drink for myself. My fiancé and best friend ordered a sandwich each. The sandwiches weren't cheap but they are HEFTY and were absolutely delicious, worth the $14/sandwich. Don't sleep in the corn fritters. Seriously. They're made with sweet corn and weren't drenched in grease. The only thing I would change is to request for them to be light on the olive oil since my vegetarian Jaclyn sandwich was drenched. The young lady behind the counter is EXTREMELY RUDE. She's the reason why i refuse to step foot in there again. She has zero customer service skills. I ordered a coffee & she tells me to "hold up" while she washes dishes / cups proceeds to not wash her hands & then pours my coffee with her hands dripping of water. Then 2-3 minutes after placing your order, you ask her to pay & she tells you hold up again. So when she's ready she ASKED ME what did you order? I've been in the business for over 25 years, i am shocked an owner will have her the face of the deli / restaurant. Btw if your providing coffee you should also have a full trey of sweeteners i.e "extra, brown sugar, sweet & low etc. I am a restaurant owner, you guys have great food with great potential but need to pay close attention to detail. It was strange because I called multiple times within 20 minutes, and it was a weekday so I know they were open. But for some reason no one answered. I eventually used Grubhub to order and my food showed up so maybe they were just having issues with their phones. Their subs are huge and can be hard to finish is you aren't ravenous. They have a decent selection of soft drinks to choose from ranging from sodas to Kombucha. Their chip selection is also varied. I am allergic to cheese (allergy not intolerance) and told the person taking orders (sometimes in person, sometimes on the phone) about my allergy and ordered a Spencer with no cheese, just meat --yes, same order every time. Literally 5 times, I've gotten home and the sandwich had cheese melted onto it. Since we live close, I would bring it back and ask for one without cheese. Very small but cute place. My son came across it on his way to class one day. He was in route for a good breakfast sandwich, as well as running late. Anyway, he picked me up from work and I felt like eating a good sandwich so he suggested here. Nice variety of sandwiches and wings weren't bad, actually tasty.
