Although the 'Jack and Mac' was a little spicy for my taste, it was super tasty and made me feel like I was eating barbecue and Mac and cheese in my hometown in Georgia. Collards were excellent. I tried so hard not to come and write this review...but just had to because I am highly disappointed. I'm a newly vegan and have heard mostly good things about Compton Vegan. What stood out to me was that they are a black owned business. They're food looks so good in the pictures. I recently purchased their 4 for $50 meals which included the rib plate, chicken plate, jac n mac bowl, and buffalo n mac bowl. I am a person that loves mac n cheese so I had high expectations for their mac. Sadly their mac n cheese is horrible! I couldn't even finish it, I've also tried to put ketchup on it to mask the taste..still horrible. I've seen two other reviews about their mac here on yelp and I agree with everything they were saying about. Their is no cheese like taste at all. It's more grainy tasting and oily to be exact. Not only is the mac horrible but their "chicken" was also nasty, couldn't finish that either. The texture is of a spongy material. Their ribs, beans, greens, and cornbread is pretty decent though and that's the only thing I'd recommend to anyone who buys food from them. I definitely feel like I wasted $50 because each plate/bowl I bought comes with that horrible mac that I will not/can not eat. Just a heads up! And I'm not one to write reviews or bash a business so I must be very dissatisfied. read more

I've been a Compton Vegan customer for the past year getting deliveries and finding them at different street fairs. The food is ridiculously good and there's nothing like those jackfruit ribs! I went to the new location yesterday for the first time of many many more to come. So happy to have Compton Vegan on the Westside and so happy for Lemel their founder who's a genius in the kitchen and also filled with positivity and hustle! His marathon will continue to produce massive change for those he inspires; massive happiness for everyone who eats his food; and massive success for him that is much earned and deserved. I tried the buffalo chikn and mac bowl---absolutely AMAZING! It's one of the best comfort vegan foods I have tried. I also tried the lemon pepper wings w/fries plate . The "wings" are a little to thick for my likings. Once they were cut and drenched in buffalo sauce, I was a happy camper. I get how some people might not like them. They are different. There are definitely better vegan wings on the market. The thing is, I would still choose this place. You gotta know what you're paying for. You're not paying for garbage here. Compton vegan is about offering healthier meal options and the fact that he is able to do that AND the food is bomb, is what distinguishes his place from others. If you are looking for vegan fast food, look elsewhere. You're not going to find greasy soy based food here. read more

My first and my last time eating at Compton Vegan express on Santa Monica Blvd. It was total trash. I tasted it and tossed it. The mac&cheese and corn bread muffin was cold, the Vegan chicken was made with lord knows what and the baked beans were plain. I ate the greens because they were hot and I was hungry, but it was a sample size. I really want my money back. read more

What vegan doesn't love comfort food? Have eaten Compton Vegan twice, first back in Feb 2020 back at the Colony. Had the Buffalo mac n Chickn bowl and the fried chicken plate. Awesome. This time they brought the truck to the OC! Sundays at KW Vegan Fair. So glad they made the trip, thank you! Had the BBQ Ribz plate and the Wings with buffalo sauce. My daughter got the wings and they are adorable with a sugarcane 'drumstick'! Ok, vegans are weird, but it was cute. I like the mac, it reminds me of Ayinde's mac n yease which I love. Beans and greens were good too. Ribz were covered in a lot of sauce, yum. I think my favorite thing about Compton Vegan is they make their own veggie meats (except the shrimp I think?) which gives everything a unique flavor. They aren't just throwing an Impossible on the grill and calling it a vegan truck. You can tell a lot of love goes into their food. We missed the fried chickn this time and that's our fav so hope it travels with the food truck back to OC again soon. Changing menus mean you get to try new things. :) read more

This place has great vegan soul food and even better customer service. When they forgot one of my Mac bowls, they delivered a fresh order to me the next day. The wait can be a bit long as well but I promise you it'll be worth it. All of the Mac bowls are delectable but I recommend the buffalo shrimp- it tastes exactly like the real thing. read more

I love Compton vegan, i think their food is delicious! But what I can't get past is their delivery service and the horrible customer service they have. Yesterday Compton vegan had pick ups in Compton at 4pm, the delivery driver didn't get to the place until 4:30! Only to find out my order wasn't there, it was still on the way because it took longer to make (????) delivery driver said it would be about 10 minutes. I WAITED FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS!!!!! I text the number provided to ask for an ETA, received NOTHING! The customer service for Compton vegan is HORRIBLE! I wish there customer service matched there delicious food! Since going vegan I have yet to find a place to fill those BBQ rib cravings thank you Compton vegan for providing those options so delicious seriously there's a vegan substitute for everything these days makes it so much easier to stick to a vegan diet I love it ! I had the pleasure of ordering the rib plate via delivery. The service was quick and the lady who delivered was pleasant. Not sure about anyone else but I typically dislike vegan Mac & cheese. However this was the first time that I've had it and loved it. My favorite part was the cornbread though. I should have ordered a full pan! It was also my first time having jackfruit ribs & I must say they didn't disappoint. My eight year old even helped me finish them off and she's not vegan. I definitely enjoyed it and can't wait to try more things on the menu. read more

After several attempts I was finally able to order Compton Vegan! I picked you from the Compton location and I couldn't get home fast enough to try my food. I ordered the jackfruit ribs plate. It came with Mac n cheese, greens, baked beans and cornbread. I knew because it was Vegan I had to be opened mines on taste as there were no dairy or animal products used. I must I enjoyed the ribs and will get them again. I can say a little less of the smoke flavor please. I also enjoyed the cornbread but the greens were bland and the beans taste like they came from a can. The Mac and cheese was something I had never taste before. It had some orange color and a something caked on that I'm assuming was the cashew cheese but I didn't care for it. But my 12 year old daughter liked it. So I will order again, I'll try something new and my daughter wants the Mac n cheese. So all and all I will continue to support Compton Vegan. read more
