Cute bar in downtown Vegas that consisted of a the typical line outside along the street filled with college students and semi-decent drinks. I've got to say though, the interior and rooftop area is gorgeous if it weren't for the overly crowded scene. The place gives off a very old time, rustic look with the wooden interior and gorgeous chandeliers. It was almost resembling the prohibition era style. Kathleen was an outstanding bartender who was multitasking with like, four drinks at one point. She was super friendly and efficient as well. I ordered a whiskey sour which was decent. The rooftop area mandates that you empty your drink into a plastic cup and leave the glass downstairs. I can imagine it gets beautiful on sunny days--we happened to get there when it was drizzling and the weather was cold and gloomy. It's been a few years since I've been inside Commonwealth. I don't really do Freemont unless out of state friends are in town. But I've always found this venue visually pleasing, there's plenty of seating and the rooftop bar is a nice option. We arrived initially around 8 p.m. Pretty empty at that point. We sat at the bar and Taylor - - could have been Tyler -- not sure but he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and everything he recommended based on my sweeter preference for cocktails was on point. DJ plays a mix off hip hop, current and old school. No complaints there. We left and went across the street to Eureka and came back at 10:03. Apparently they start charging a $20 cover at 10. I can understand the cover charge because I think Vegas has learned hip hop, rap does not always attract the best crowd, so I assume they eliminate that issue with a cover. But I'm taking away a star for the fact they wanted to charge us $40 when we had a stamp from being there earlier and it was still empty and it was 3 minutes past the cover start. I will add I did not see a re-entry disclaimer. And what is the point of stamping my wrist if it doesn't prove I was already there. The 'bouncer' did not end up charging us and acted like he was doing us a favor. It's pretty apparent once we were inside again with view of the entrance that a line forms outside and they make people wait when it's still dead inside. I guess if you're walking by outside a line makes it looks more desirable. Bullsh*t move in my opinion. So overall 5 stars for the bartenders, Zero stars for 'bouncers'. This review is for their trivia night on Tuesdays that they just started, also called Alemunati. I had been wanting to come for a while and when they had a 90's themed night, even though I had just gotten off a plane a few hours earlier, I said what the heck and came down. I have mixed feelings about this trivia night. I feel like it's a really good concept. I like the themes. They had jazz music playing which was AWESOME but was kinda hard to hear which was a bummer. I'm sure they were playing some awesome 90s tunes. The trivia questions are on a monitor and go pretty fast, so if you're not sitting in a good spot or miss something they can be hard to hear. Also they had a break every 20 questions or so but didn't collect the answers. This seems like it would be easy for folks to cheat? The table we were sitting at was a long table with uncomfortable chairs and we had teams around us on all sides. Very easy for folks to overhear. The service was incredibly slow and our server didn't know much about the special beers on tap. And the invite said there would be 90s video game questions - even made it sound like it would be a whole round. But it was only a couple questions which seemed odd since the grand prize was an SNES classic. So all in all this trivia night has potential. I like the jazz but make the music louder. Horrible experience. NEVER EVER ORDER BOTTLE SERVICE HERE!! It started OK at first. We got to cut ahead of the line, server came up to our table right away. I order an old fashioned...A classic cocktail that almost every bartender should know. What I received was the most pathetic drink ever. Whole drink was barely an ounce at most with a tiny piece of orange peel and a cocktail pick. I joked with the server and asked her where the rest of my drink was. Instead of remaking my drink, all they did was add ice cubes to it!!!! Our friends ordered Moscow mules and all you could taste was ginger beer. very watered down drinks. I sent my drink back for a beer instead and didn't take it out on the server because she didn't make the drink. This isn't my first time here and at their speakeasy, Laundryroom, they make delicious cocktails. But it just wasn't the case this time. In order to save ourselves the trouble, we asked if we could simply just pay for the drinks we had order and close our tab. But because we had reservations for bottle service and they take your card at the entrance, we were stuck with having to make the minimum order of $400. We should have just ordered a bottle if the drinks we're going to be watered down. And then to finish it off, we get our bill of $583!! $400 to meet the minimum, $100 for gratuity that's already included and another $83 for service fee. Very disappointed. read more

Only bad thing was when I went to pay, I left a $4.00 tip and the bartender added a zero to one of my receipts which I later realized on my bank transactions . Wowwwwww I'm a Vegas native and I have been going here for almost 4+ years for there EDM nights on Thursdays and I have always wore leggings, however yesterday was the first time I was turned away for wearing black leggings!! ( I guess I will be requesting a refund for the ticket I purchased online ). At Commonwealth: If your using a 3rd party vendor to sell tickets to events then you might wanna inform your buyers via there website that there is a dress code because most EDM events sold online do not mention this + we all know how us raver dress.......so having to turn someone away for wearing simple black legging at a EDM event is just crazy to me. I can understand if you don't allowing gym wear, flip flops or ripped jeans like most clubs ...... but leggings!! Like come on now most, if not ALL women wear leggings; Idk its funny to me how I can wear normal leggings at club such as Tao, Encore, Drais etc. but yet yall turn people away..........Crazy!! Came in last night and had bottle service for a friend's birthday party. This wasn't my first time at Commonwealth and with this said, I've always had a good time here. I would have to say it's my favorite bar/lounge within the Fremont Street Experience. Why? First off, it has a clean roof top deck with a full bar and huge outdoor seating area. Commonwealth light weight reminds me of many places that I love visiting in PB, San Diego. The overall space is pretty reasonable. When you walk in - there is a full bar on the right side, with high bar style tables in the center, then both like seating to the left. Our "bottle service" area consisted of two tables (near the DJ booth) and mini stools surrounding the tables. With our party of 12 people, we were comfortable and had a lot of dance space without feeling claustrophobic. For the most part, the music selection here has been on point. A good mixture of dance, trap and HIP HOP! Last night was good with exactly a little bit of everything. I would highly recommend this spot because the crowd has a pretty good ratio of male and female, versus other places that are solely sausage fests. Overall, the crowd is also chill- slightly hipster and on the younger generation. Another thing I appreciate about this bar is that it does not stink. Came here early (around 8:00) for drinks with my GF in the main bar. Loved the atmosphere, decor and vibe. We spent good $$ for the next 2 hours. As 10pm came, we attempted to head upstairs to the roof. We were stopped by security and told there was a cover charge. No big deal, we respect that. We were told that to pay it, we'd have to go outside and wait in the "rooftop" line which by 10pm was around the building. Im truly not one to argue with security but I asked the guy "if we spent money already and we're willing to also pay the cover, what sense is there in having paying customers with money in hand go outside and get BACK in line?". Answer= "Yeah I know but that's my managers rule, sorry." Walked out after that. I get the fact that we're simply bar patrons and there's others that probably spend way more but that's a ridiculous policy no matter how you slice it. Cant see myself going back. Commonwealth is a fairly popular bar/club just outside the entrance to Fremont. The line to enter the establishment was fairly long, however that was expected. The cover charge is fairly high at $20 per person in comparison to other establishments such as Gold Spike which is $10. Upon entry, you'll notice its unique historic appearance and purposefully maintained dated decor. The downstairs space is fairly small and is prone to crowding easily. There is a bar downstairs with friendly service, however the drinks are also fairly expensive in comparison with a mandatory service charge on all purchases. There was live music downstairs during my visit. What makes Commonwealth popular is the roof top. You'll take the staircase upstairs to the open balcony. The balcony overlooks Fremont Street which sponsors a nice view. However the space, much like downstairs, is fairly small and prone to crowding. There is roped off sections that you can purchase in advance, but this also leads to restricted space. There is an additional bar upstairs with live music. The music both upstairs and downstairs was modern and of good taste. Overall, the experience was positive, the drinks were well crafted and the music tasteful. If you're looking for a unique dated experience, then Commonwealth is a great place for you to visit. read more

This is such a beautiful and cool bar in Downtown LV! I came by here and enjoyed it upon entrance the decor is very classy and modern. The atmosphere and ambiance is nice and the service here is good. I loved the music that was spun by the DJ on the dance floor, which made the rooftop bar so much fun. *Commonwealth* is awesome and a good place to check out as an alternative when looking to get away from the club scene of The Strip. Summer rooftop vibes here totally reminded me of rooftop bars in Southern California (San Diego or Santa Monica), with a little more "heat" from the Vegas temperature. Went down to Commonwealth for a Jack N Cake event because Fat Kids Love Cake and Jack is always a staple in my belly. Great party, great service and really strong drinks being served which I'm a fan of. But the winner of the night were the beats that kept pumping through my bones during my terrible attempt at dancing. All my fortnite moves were in play. Orange Justice, the hype, the floss. It was Epic! Overall the night was so successful that i went back down the following Saturday as i happened to be downtown after watching the basketball games. Downtown venues have come a long way over the past four years and Commonwealth is hands down the most inviting that I've been to. There is a funny guy at the front door who looks like an Ex-Pro golfer but after a quick chat with him, you will want to invite him to all of your family gatherings or an addition to your foursome at your next round of golf. I had to pay for rooftop access but I didn't mind as I knew of the immersive beats that awaited me on the roof were worth paying for and the three women i was with were free (I'm talking about the cover charge still). I'm a fan of the upstairs patio, some what weird decorations, and alcohol selection. But where's the elevator? I probably just couldn't find it or something but if I was drinking a little I'd love an elevator ride up and down. I was kind of dissapointed in it wasn't weird enough for me, was expecting more weirdness. Drinks arent cheap especially when it's not Happy Hour. During HH I think drafts went for $5, don't order the coronas they were $6 don't think they're on HH. The bar downstairs has a large selection of craft beers I liked what they offered. The tap handles are interesting there was a phone, trophy, and stuff. Upstairs was nice theres a nice bar with an awesome view of downtown and what's going on along Fremont East. On cooler nights I'd definitely find myself up there but if it's out stay inside plenty of AC. The environment is chill what I like about any good bar. Customer service was good and wont take long taking your order especially towards the end of HH and you just wanna get your last drinks in before its over. There's a secret room where you text someone and they let you it. It's the Laundry Room it's a little too private for me but there's another business listing for that so I'll describe my experience in there. Interestingly eclectic decor. There was a company holiday party going on downstairs and it was neat to bump into friends that were part of said party. Since it was packed downstairs, my friends and I went upstairs to the rooftop patio. They have nice comfy couches and they also have heaters for cold winter nights. You get a nice view of downtown LV from the patio. The crowd was good...none of the obnoxiously loud and drunk tourists. My friend told me that the drinks here were expensive. I really don't have a clue since I didn't pay for any drinks the whole night. Sweet! It's always an interesting long evening when I'm the DD (a very scary thing), one of my passengers falls asleep before we even REALLY start drinking...and it turns out that we went to the wrong bar. Have to say last night's groove sess was a blast. The lively, hipster bar sets as a scrim on the rooftop features a DJ and a medium sized dance floor with a bar overlooking Fremont and 6th. Downstairs is a dark and swanky with a large bar with foxy old fashioned dish and bulb lighting. Ample seating throughout. There's a "secret" room that you can get the password for ahead of time. It's poised as a fun take on a speakeasy. We did not go in, but sounds cool to try out sometime. Ohhh Commonwealth! What can l say about you... A group of girlfriends and l came here after our Uber driver recommended this place to us. I decided to yelp the location and figured it was worth giving it a shot to check out. I am so happy l did. The place was poppin w good music and an awesome crowd. The commonwealth has two levels. The lower level is pretty neat. Excellent lighting, great bartenders and a large seating area along the window with many tables center of the floor. Decor was pretty nice and the ambiance was fun. A dj on the lower level as well as the upper. The upper level was rooftop with a few heaters, full bar and spacious seating areas. The dj up here was excellent. He played just about everything and l swear my feet were numb from dancing all night. There was no cover charge for the ladies but the men had to pay $25. Lmao The prices of the drinks were not bad at all and they were pretty damn good as well as strong. Security in every corner in case you were wonderin. I just can't get over the drink prices which are a head scratcher for sure. The decor is OK but I wasn't blown away at all. On a Sunday night there was no cover charge, thank goodness, or I wouldn't be writing a review. There is no justification for a cover charge on Fremont Street. We were on the upstairs patio most of the time, and it was teeming with the standard Downtown crowd. I went here just to see what all the buzz was about, and will not likely be going back unless it's during a reasonably priced drink special night.
