For my 28th birthday I hosted a bar crawl in Downtown Las Vegas. After going to a handful of dive bars we landed at Commonwealth because the music drew us in. They were playing my favorite songs from classic reggaeton artists, R&B was in the mix, and hip hop too. It was a good choice to end the night here because it's a pretty big club with a downstairs dance floor and rooftop dance floor too. After my group of 10 got our drinks we made our way upstairs and danced for hours. Stopped by Commonwealth on Fremont Street with my wife, and it quickly became one of our new favorites. The atmosphere was electric -- great music, awesome crowd, and the bartenders were top-notch. We couldn't resist trying their world-famous habanero pickle back, and it did not disappoint -- spicy, bold, and exactly what we needed. This spot is definitely staying on our Vegas must-visit list. Cute club on the not crazy side of Fremont! No cover, which was nice! It wasn't crowded when we entered or exited. We didn't hang out too much in the outer club, because we had reservations in the speakeasy. It's worth trying to find! Pretty typical house music. Good service at the bar. Good level of security to feel safe without being invasive. It seemed chill enough for my slightly older crowd and cool enough to take our 30yo daughter without being mocked. The few times I've been in, my visits had been very brief but this time I spent the whole night there and quite enjoyed the atmosphere. Let's start out with a minor, but seemingly unavoidable annoyance in this day and age. -The price of everything. It is $20 to get in, for everybody, men and women. I'm used to paying a cover charge while downtown but it's still never fun. I was funny though to see the look on my female friends' faces and the faces of the female tourists behind us when they were asked to pay for entry too lol. The drinks were also typical for downtown Las Vegas if not a bit inflated. $79 for 5 drinks and that includes two beers, a bit ridiculous, especially on top of the $20/person cover charge. Again, an annoyance but something you'll have to deal with pretty much wherever you go down there. Honestly, that was it though. The rest of the night was great. The bartenders, line staff, DJs, and bouncers were all very nice which was almost shocking. The music was good, the drinks were tasty, and the women there were gorgeous, though it didn't seem like many people were dancing, which again, was a bit odd to me. Came in tonight 4/28 because a local friend recommended for the music. The first security guard we encountered was very nice and right before he was going to let us in, another bouncer with shoulder length hair and ear tunnels came out the door and declared that my REAL California ID was a fake because he "couldn't see my ears in my picture" which, huh? When I stated that it was real and that in the 4 almost 5 years I've had my current ID I've never been told it looks fake, or have had any other issues including when using it to travel internationally. To which he replied "No, I know it's a fake" and I asked if the had scanners and he said "No, we are certified ID checkers, I do this everyday". So me being the determined person who loves to prove people wrong, especially when I KNOW they are wrong. I went looking for a police officer to scan my ID. When I found the cops they immediately said it looked real but they would scan it for verification. When it came up clear and REAL the cops drove over to let the bouncers know. So pretty much they are letting people in and not based on how they feel. I only stayed to prove a point as my friends said because the bouncer was so rude and adamant about my "deception"that we should leave. While we were there they played good music and the DJ and bar tenders were nice but the one guy at the front definitely needs an ego check. Also I'm attaching a picture that I took this same night, where you STILL can't see my ears, sorry my ears don't stick out to the side but have a VALID way of checking before you call somebody a liar, lucky he didn't try to throw it away or destroy. read more

Can I give more than 5 stars???? I was looking for a nice place to celebrate a birthday with my wife and some friends. This is hard to do, and surprisingly so! We live in the Entertainment Capital of the US. So finding a nice place , not to clubby, or overrun with singles looking to "Hook Up" where adults can relax,dance and enjoy the evening is more than challenging. Not going to a bunch of places like this it's hard to tell from websites and reviews. For some reason when. I reached out to Zokie, he answered my concerns and made me feel pretty confident that this spot would work out! He was super accommodating and advised us as to the main floor vs rooftop for the comfort level we were searching for! So we made the table reservations and set our sights on the Birthday event! When we arrived they had already sat some of our friends without questioning, which is great as this was a surprise situation. When we arrived i was introduced to Rebecca,who was our server! To say she took care of us is a gross understatement,she excelled at meeting our needs! She took care of my group of 12 with ease and a smile! She never left me waiting for a drink, and at my request kept plenary of waters handy! We danced for hours, the DJ was perfect. He mixed several styles and genres together to it was constantly pumping but not "trans music " annoying. The bar is also large,very stylish and unique! The pictures do not portray the class of the place, as I mentioned earlier! For a fFriday PM they kept the crowd at an energetic but not crammed-overcrowded level! Pleased beyond words! This is one of my favorite clubs. I love how it has two levels because it's like being in two clubs for the price of one. If you're from vegas you're going to see one or two people you know, because everyone and their mom's is there. The line for the bathroom is never that bad. And they're also pretty maintain, there is always a super nice lady their helping you out. They sell anything you possibly need in the bathroom. The prices for the door do change, but for the most time it's free for girls during certain times or up to $40. read more

Nice, quaint venu in Downtown's East Fremont area. Very walkable with lots of other places around to enjoy. We had a large group, Enterprise Bank, who booked the venue for a couple of hours with a networking event. There was a TV screen that we could view, a photo backdrop, a table with goodie bags, and plenty of comfy seating and room to stand. The bar is large and we were able to get lots of yummy drinks. It looked like there was a rooftop area too, although we didn't use it. Outside, there is not immediate parking too close, but my ride was able to drop off and pick up on the side with ease. read more

I have been wanting to go to this bar for a while now but it's always so busy, this time I made a reservation for the piano bar on a saturday night. The piano is bar is just so beautiful and luxurious with the chandeliers. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks, the bartenders are just awesome and make great drinks and are very friendly. When 10pm came we tried to go into the rooftop bar and this is where I am very disappointed on Commonwealth. We were told by security that we are not able to go up without a stamp, which we can get for $20 a piece , it didn't seem fair since we had spent a significant amount of money in the bar already but we said ok fine. Then we were informed that we must go out of the bar get in the long line and pay then to get in again. It really bothered me because we were inside already , it didn't make any sense so we decided to leave. I really like the bar and the staff but it's not worth to go and spend money and try to spend even more in the other bar and we are told to go back outside and wait. According to the security it's a management rule , i hope this changes in the future. read more

So, I haven't been to Commonwealth per se, but I have been to The Laundry Room and I love that place. Like LOVE. Like I don't care that I overdrink and overspend. It's amazing. One day, while walking by Commonwealth in the daylight hours, I see boards shuttering the windows and doors and I get worried one of my fave places was gone. Darn you 2020 and the COVID!!! Luckily, a bit of online research was able to soothe my heart and I saw that Commonwealth was doing a Christmas pop-up. I made reservations tout de suit! It's the same procedure as always, you tell the doorman what you're there for, he checks your ID. The only difference now is that he takes your temp too. The inside has always been cute but darn if it isn't super dolled up for Christmas!!! We waited downstairs while they settled the party in front of us and I kind of regretted saying I wanted the rooftop because the ambiance downstairs is downright amazing. But... the rooftop speakeasy is super cute and cozy. While it is a larger area, the way they have it set-up for COVID/Christmas made it feel intimate and warm. DJ Santa was really good and played a good mix of music. The service was pretty good. Our server was nice and the person who brought us up and ended up bringing all our drinks to us was amazing. Drinks are good here. This place sure knows how to build a cocktail. But I wouldn't expect any less, tbh. read more

Reserved a table on a Saturday night on the roof. DJ was great! Prices were not correct. We were told 6-8 ppl $800 minimum plus tax & gratuity. Our card was charged for over $2K! Our waitress was Rebecca and she charged us for bottles that were paid to her in cash ($350) plus a tip paid to her in cash ($400) as well. The itemized receipt I received after reflects $1800 plus an additional $336 tip so not only did this place get the $2k+ but she pocketed $750 in cash that was clearly unaccounted for...that is NOT cool. In addition to this, our guests who did not walk in with us were charged $20/each even after I went and got them from the door! Our host told us they shouldn't have been charged but couldn't do anything about it if they were. One of these 3 stars go for the host who was a super receptive guy; he was flexible with our needs, he outlined the dress code, music, suggested other clubs that he was also in charge of, but ultimately, the price point was definitely way off. Next star goes to the DJ upstairs who's music was on point & kept it going! 3rd star goes to the male waiter helper (idk what his title was) as he was always to be found and on it 100%! Went online to purchase tickets for the Impulse Saturdays Event. We purchased the whiskey and gin cocktail + free entry ticket for around $26 with fees. Proceeded to arrive around midnight and were told at the entrance by the ticket handle that the ticket for the drink voucher could not be admitted due to it being past the time. Per the website and ticket received, there is no indication or rules stating that we had to arrive at a specific time in order to receive the drink voucher. I think it would be nice if there was more information regarding this so that there isn't a mix up in purchasing a ticket and not receiving all that was paid for. read more

We saw an ad of a dj we are familiar with, who's spinning on a Friday night on their rooftop, so we got on the guestlist. We've never been here and didn't know the parking situation etc we got here a little early, at 9:30pm. There was no line, we walked up, got carded and let in. We found a table by the window and chilled there. Got our drinks at the bar. There's a DJ already playing so we just chilled and ppl watched. The place is nice. Love the chandeliers inside. Closer to 10pm, lots more ppl were coming. The security did not get anyone upstairs unless you're stamped that you're on the guest list. I was confused, how do we get our stamped since no one asked us anything when we arrived and just let us in. I went to the front door and had to ask and was told I had to go back out and check with the girls standing outside about guest list and the stamp. Omg. -1 star for that. If I did not what security sat that, we would not have known and wouldn't be let upstairs. Anyways, got the stamp and our drinks and walked upstairs to the rooftop. It was hot as heck, back down we went. No one was upstairs, although another DJ was spinning, at 10:30pm. We went back down and sat again. Chilling again for a bit more before trying to brave the heat and go ip at 11pm. More ppl were up there but just too damn got to enjoy anything. Plus there's no place to sit. There's a few tables but it's all reserved so you got way too many ppl just standing and waiting. Honestly, best to just go there early, get in without a cover charge, stay inside/downstairs, get a seat and hear the DJ spinning there with your drinks. Not worth the trouble. If you are LGBTQ+ or an ally--do not go here. This is not an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment. I was turned away because I was wearing a crop top and according to the bouncer, "exposed midriff is not allowed." My friends and I went home where I changed into a top that covered my midriff. When I returned, the same bouncer said I was good to go in, but a second bouncer stopped me to verify the sex on my ID. This bouncer, Malik, said "males need to have sleeves." I explained to Malik that 1) sex on an ID is not indicative of someone's gender, 2) asking to verify my sex is inappropriate and invasive, and 3) my friends were not wearing sleeves, yet they weren't questioned. Malik replied that while he understood my frustration those were just the rules and that my friends' dress code was OK because they're women. This response and the customer service I was given are impermissible in 2021. When Malik said I needed to present my ID, the first bouncer (whose name I missed in my frustration), said "I didn't even think about that." In saying this, that bouncer validated that sex is irrelevant to the situation. I was there to spend money on drinks. What do my privates have to do with that? I used to really enjoy coming to the Commonwealth but not anymore. We sat down and no one came around. We thought there were no servers but we saw a server bring the table their drinks a few tables away. We sat for longer and she never came back but we could see her dancing and laughing at the bar. I walked up to the bar and asked the bartender if there's no servers and she replied "no later in the night". We could clearly see two other tables being served. Christmas holly jolly event was decorated just right with nutcrackers ,reindeers and Santa servers . It is operating at 25% capacity so you must make a reservation online no exceptions from what I saw they are very strict and following the same rules for everyone. Seriously thou how adorable is their decor since it's Covid time and it's a speakeasy it seemed somehow fitting . When making the reservation make sure you look carefully whether you book inside or rooftop seating . I chose rooftop and it was the wrong one because I was so cold at 30 degrees . There was a Santa Dj and a view of Las Vegas so it wasn't at all bad.My mistletoe politan didn't stand a chance it was sweet and I didn't taste the alcohol but definitely felt i don't drink much . Ordered muelled wine which is a hot drink taste like a really sweet hot tea first sip taste great then it just because too much I couldn't get myself to finish . Servers were nice fun and attentive. One of my favorite bars while venturing Downtown Fremont. There was a long line when we went, but it moved quickly. There is a cover charge for men, but women get in for free. The space has great rustic decor and plenty of seats. Plenty! The bartenders were friendly and fast. There is a DJ downstairs as well as upstairs. Great vibe on both floors, but I enjoyed the atmosphere upstairs a lot better. Came here because I checked online to see what time they opened and to look to see if this place was the right place to check out. It seemed good and on their events page they said they had reggaeton night on March 2nd it would go from 7:00- the time they closed. We get there and they closed the place due to a private event and they wouldn't open back until 10. Why would they not put this on their website. It's ridiculous how poorly some businesses manage. Horribly loud music playing from 10pm-2am , if you stay at El Cortez in the original rooms don't plan on going to sleep at a decent hour- impossible !! I guess young people like crappy music blasting as loud as possible and that= fun. Don't go this place if you want a nice drink and plan on talking your friends, it's too loud to hear yourself think. As soon as we entered seeing all the holiday decorations made me forget about the craziness of 2020 and I'm so grateful for places making my favorite holiday that much better. They have some holiday drinks and live music! Also everyone here is super friendly! There is a 2 drink minimum and drinks range from $11 beers to $14 cocktails and a $6 gourmet popcorn per table charge. I know to some it might be wait what, but keep in mind that places are only allowed to operate at only 25% capacity. It's been a tough year for businesses. Even though I miss the energy of a crazy packed bar ... in some ways I enjoyed not being smushed inside a bar saying excuse me as I try to navigate my way. Commonwealth is an absolutely beautiful place. It's really a hidden gem! They have a rooftop and they also have a speakeasy that you have to register for but oh my gosh it's such a great experience. If you're ever in the Las Vegas downtown area, you have to try out this place my husband took me one time on date night so I don't really know the name of the speakeasy but I'm pretty sure if you goto Commonwealth and let them know that you wanna know more about it.
