However, the cashier recommended the shaken bees knees and I substituted almond for oak milk. This iced potion had 5 shots of espresso!! Yes, it woke me up! Was it delicious? Good coffee and hot chocolate especially when it's cold outside and the ground glistens with ice (they kept the sidewalks salted and safe to walk on). The seating area is brightly lit and clean. Mostly service people giving bad service, too many times i couldn't get the food i wanted even though others in the party would get it. 3 requests to a barkeep for an ice tea. I like how they have 3 different categories split inside this rest station. You have fast food like burgers, hot dog and fries/onion rings. Then the coffee/bakery side as well as food already packed to go. My eyes got greedy and ended up ordering the bleu cheese burger, fries and onion rings. Everything's pretty average, but on the plus side, it's bigger and more packed than a certain chain I went to recently. I also got a strawberry smoothie from the coffee shop. It was lightly thick, but also a tasted a little watered down. Stopped here on my way back from Vermont. Lots of options ranging from sandwiches to pizzas and chicken salads and the facilities are clean. I ordered the Turkey, Bacon, and swiss and was pleasantly surprised at how hot and flavorsome it was. The bread was toasted well, and the melted swiss mixed in with the turkey and bacon was delicious. What took me by surprise was the poutine. Just off the highway we stopped in for breakfast three times at this place while in town. Service was always friendly and food was made to order. Always fresh, hot and pretty tasty. Portions are big. The omelette came with hash brown potatoes and toast. The fried eggs and bacon came with a bowl of beans and some toast. The French toast was pretty good it had a dusting of powdered sugar on top. There was no maple syrup just those little packages of flavored syrup. Coffee and drinks are self serve and refills are free. There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy your meal. There is a gas station and charging station at this location. So you can charge your car while you have a coffee or a bit to eat. There are other places inside this highway stop to grab some food or groceries. Washrooms are clean. Would totally recommend this place. read more

The 'uncommon iced' coffee is nice and strong. It's a great coffee for when your getting a little sleepy on the road. I was able to get back home to Boston with my eyes wide open after drinking half of my large iced coffee. I also loved the fact that the ice was made of coffee instead of water and it was a huge chunk rather than small ice chips. I wish all coffee places did that so the coffee wouldn't get diluted. The flavor of the coffee was strong without being overly bitter. The flavor of the coffee is better than Starbucks in my opinion and the prices are around the same as going to a Starbucks. They also had dairy free options (almond milk) which is always great for my lactose intolerant husband. The service was quick and friendly. I wish this little coffee shop was in my area. Next time I travel back from New Hampshire I'll be sure to make a stop at Common Man for a cup of joe. ;) read more

The Hi-Way Diner opened very recently inside of the Common Man Welcome Center North in Hooksett, located along I-93 Northbound north of the Hooksett Tolls (Exit 11). This fast casual diner serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner offering streamlined diner menu offerings at reasonable prices. Unlike a traditional full service diner, this diner has no waitstaff, which is "order & pay at the counter" and you pick up your food when your name is called. There is limited self-serve 1950s style vinyl booth seating inside of the diner, but there is ample seating in the food court area in front of the diner. When you are finished eating, you bus your own dishes in nearby bins. Breakfast (served all day) offerings include egg dishes, bennies, omelets, hot cakes, French toast, hash, roadies (breakfast sandwiches), oatmeal, and sides. The lunch/dinner offerings include burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, soups, chili, fries, fried pickles, poutines, comfort foods (shepherd's pie, pot roast, meatloaf, American chop suey, mac & cheese, spaghetti, chicken parm, steak), kids meals, and desserts (pies, ice cream, frappes, floats). The prices here are pretty reasonable, most meals priced $4.50-$8.50. Self serve Pepsi fountain drinks and Café Monte Alto Coffee served here. I stopped for dinner at the Hi-Way Diner very recently. The place was moderately busy on a Friday night. I ordered a Basket of Fried Pickles ($4) and Spaghetti & Meatballs ($8.50) and a cup of ice water. The food was all set for pick-up in about 5 minutes after ordering. Fried pickles were nice and crispy breaded dill pickle chips (not too greasy) which came with a cool ranch dipping sauce. A few hand cut fries were mixed in the basket as a bonus. The Spaghetti & Meatballs consisted of 3 big moist & soft homemade meatballs, soft spaghetti, and a thick tomato sauce, sprinkled with parmesan cheese, soft roll on the side. This is the same Spaghetti & Meatballs dish I've enjoyed at the Airport Diner in Manchester, except the portions there are bigger. Overall, the food I had was pretty good and I was eating at a rest area too! After dinner, I headed over to the Country Store and picked up a glazed donut stick from Brothers Donut for my dessert. Not the best layout would be a cluster if busy .. Folks are entering from 3 entrances. Very long board across the full galley with many good options from eggs and muffins for breakfast to burgers and pizzas. A little overwhelming to most that were in line. All employees were very friendly and patient with many who couldn't decide from the many options. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. Included red cabbage and melted cheese, on a very fresh bun. It's cooked fresh to order which is a good touch. I ordered a grill cheese and fries. The grilled cheese was on bread toasted, and the cheese was nice and thick. The fries were horrible. The fries are amazing! Very crispy and not greasy. I love how they come in a cardboard tray and a lid that slides over the top. You will wait for the to go food but everything is made fresh to order. I watched them make their various versions of Mac and cheese and that too is made in small batches. They also have a general store but you will pay rest stop prices just like at any other place. You will find NH themed products for sale as well. The bathrooms are very clean and there is a giant water wheel inside to see as well as information about what to do in NH. A large fry is $6 and was about 3 servings of fries. They do have veggie burgers at the diner and to go stand. read more

We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon and the line was pretty lengthy. Not too long of a wait though. There is a good amount of food to select from and the prices are not bad (I'd say an average of $7-$10 for most menu items). The mac and cheese looked really good, but we ordered a hot pastrami sandwich instead. It had plenty of meat and ingredients. We split it and it was enough to satisfy our hunger for the rest of our hour long trip. They serve lobster rolls as well ($18) but I don't recall seeing anyone order one. There's plenty of seating in the middle of the food court area, which is shared with the General Store, Diner, Art store and Liquor outlet. This place is very kid friendly and also very clean.
