We stopped here for breakfast as our usual spot was closed. The staff here are very friendly and the restaurant is bright and open. The coffee was really good and I really liked that they had flavored creamer as well as the regular. I ordered eggs with bacon, toast, and home fries. The eggs were cooked a perfect medium. Unfortunately the home fries, although they had a good flavor was very greasy and the toast way over buttered. The bacon had a good flavor but tasted as though it was previously cooked and warmed up It wasnt crispy, but chewy. All in all not a bad breakfast. The Egg Shell Restaurant is a hometown country restaurant located in a small strip plaza at the corner of Route 106 and Shaker Road in Loudon, about 3 miles south of the NHMS. The Egg Shell serves the typical breakfast fare and lunch fare (sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, homemade desserts). The coffee brewed here is from Donahue Bros. The prices here are extremely reasonable, 4 egg omelets are $5.95 and under and sandwiches are under $5. For a more extensive menu with comfort dishes, steaks, and seafood, their other restaurant The Circle Restaurant in Epsom also serves dinner too. ----------------------------------------------------------------- A group of my coworkers (scrubs) and I had a holiday breakfast at The Egg Shell Restaurant in Loudon very recently. We sat ourselves at a large table in the middle of the bright open dining room and we were offered beverages (coffee & juice) after we sat down. Anyways, we all place our orders shortly after settling in. However, a large order was phoned in and the kitchen staff became completely focused on completing the large order of food (lots of takeout boxes) instead of also focusing on the dine in customers. For about 45 minutes, no one in the half full dining room was being served any food. Our waitress had a mortified look on her face and apologized to us for the delay (not her fault in this case). She kept refilling our drinks. We were all occupied in deep conversations and enjoying each others' company while waiting. The other diners did not look so happy. The woman at the next table looked really p-ss-d off and was glaring at the kitchen. We also told the waitress that our boss did not want to come here with us because the food is served on plastic dishes which he calls "Alpo food dishes." My boss who is a local resident, also told me earlier in the year that if I ever knocked his hometown restaurant on Yelp, then he would have to *@#$ me. Well, look who's knocking on The Egg Shell? As a joke, we asked the waitress for a plastic plate which was obliged and we all signed the plate for our absent boss and the waitress also signed the plate calling the boss an "A-s." After the large order was done, the kitchen and waitstaff began to finally rush out the food to the tables. 45 minutes after ordering, we had a hot breakfast! I ordered a 2 egg Steak & Cheese Omelet ($4,45) with hash browns ($0.50) and a large baked cinnamon roll ($2.50). The food was really great! The omelet had thinly shaved steak with melted cheese and the homemade shredded hash browns were crispy and browned on the outside. The large cinnamon roll was excellent, which was rolled with lots of cinnamon filling and topped with sweet icing. The rest of the group also enjoyed their breakfast including pancakes, waffles, French toast, roast beef hash, spinach & cheese omelet, and the deluxe breakfast with homemade toast. We were all very full and way overdue back to work. Overall, the food we had was very good and very reasonably priced. I would've easily given The Egg Shell 4+ stars based on what I had, BUT the service from the kitchen was extremely slow on this visit. The kitchen needs to realize that there are also hungry customers in the dining room too. It did give us an excuse for a long breakfast. When we got back to the office, the souvenir Egg Shell plate was wrapped and gifted to our boss during a gift swap. The boss did get a great chuckle from the signed plastic plate, which was also stained with ketchup and traces of syrup and omelet. He missed a memorable breakfast. read more

I'm always on the lookout for an interesting breakfast location. I found the Egg Shell in N.H. magazine which awarded them with a high rating. The good: The food, although not terribly interesting or creative, was served quickly, hot, and enjoyable. I ordered a breakfast combination of scrambled eggs (overcooked), pancakes (surprisingly light and amazingly hot), home fries (delicious), toast, ham (nothing special), baked beans (great), and coffee. The not so good: They strangely serve their food on foam plates. It's just too difficult to cut your food properly on foam plates and since they use flatware and ceramic mugs for coffee the foam plates make no sense. Our waitress was efficient and pleasant at the beginning and during our meal; however, when it came time to pay the check she mysteriously remained behind the counter eating her breakfast. We made eye contact several times but still she did not return to our table. After waiting a full ten-minutes, I asked another waitress to take our check. Our original waitress then zoomed back over and acted as if nothing strange had happened. This type of service is not appropriate nor appreciated. The food or the service is not enough for me to want to travel the 40-minutes it took me to reach this restaurant. My search for an interesting and inventive breaksfast place that also has good service will continue. The Egg Shell is not it. read more

I have been coming here since I was a child and I have never been served food on a foam plate. The Egg Shell Restaurant is amazing. I love coming here because the waitresses know me when I walk in the door, the owner is always present and socializing with the patrons, and the food is always exceptional. I recommend the omelets, home fries, and cinnamon rolls. The bread isn't the best, but I've always been more of a bagel person anyways. Try the Egg Shell, you won't be disappointed! My friend and I stopped in for the first time today, although we are frequent customers of their other restaurant in Epsom. My friend had eggs benny which she much enjoyed, and I had the chef's omelette which was also very good. Service was prompt and friendly, and prices quite reasonable. For example, I was going snowboarding yesterday and didn't feel like making breakfast, so I dropped by and was kind of in a rush and I was there for a probably a total of 15 minutes, which was awesome because I didn't have any time to waste. A couple miles south of the NH International Speedway is this quaint breakfast and lunch diner. I came for breakfast and saw local firefighters here so it must be good. A friend recommended I try the Irish corned beef hash Eggs Benedict and I had every intention of doing so. Instead I had the corned beef hash egg omelette and it was tasty. My Wife and I ate here on August 10, 2018. She had lunch and I had breakfast. This place is truly special. It was packed and even the people that had to wait a little were smiling. The wait staff talked to waiting people a few times. Not only are the prices great and the food fantastic, the people working there are what make this place special. There was a large table of elderly people (12 or so) from an assisted living place I think. They were made to feel special, they were, and had so much fun. The strawberry short cake was big enough for two of them to share. If you are up in Loudon stop in. You will see what I mean. A very special place in every way. read more

This is the worst breakfast restaurant I've ever been to. The staff wasn't friendly, the restaurant appeared dirty, and the food was disgusting. My friend ordered an omelet with home fries and I ordered strawberry stuffed French toast. The meals were tiny and unappetizing but we decided to try it anyways. My friend found hair in her food and after showing the waitress, there was no sympathy at all. My stuffed French toast was absolutely disgusting. It consisted of two pieces of French toast with melted cream cheese in between and a discolored strawberry compote thrown on top. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will never return. read more

Gave this place many chances because it's local and convenient. It's one thing to repeatedly get dirty silverware, previously used napkins, lipstick on your coffee cup, coffee rings inside your coffee cup, sticky tables, sticky menus, filthy booster seats, off tasting bacon and sausage, milk that curdles in your coffee and watery juice. Its another thing entirely when the waitress is nasty because you have the audacity to mention any of these problems. That was the final straw for me. Its too bad. I live in Concord, NH and am always up to travel the 10 min distance to The Egg Shell Restaurant in Loudon, NH. It is the absolute best place to bring family and friends. You will find a cheerfull laid-back crowd of locals, regulars and tourist. It's seat yourself and can get crowded at peak hours. Which is a good indications that they are doing something right. Full breakfest and lunch menus. Happy servers and hilarious owner! He is always there chatting and mingling with customers and has stopped by my table and had my kids laughing hysterically. Great place. Its hard to find restaurants like this anymore with all the chain garbage out there. read more
