Sausage gravy and homemade biscuits, classic hash browns, and good string coffee = breakfast perfection
Tuesday R.

Come for the great coffee, homemade breads and biscuits, outstanding sausage gravy, and inventive specials; stay for the warm, friendly, and attentive service. Shout out to Wendy, who absolutely got our day off to a good start. Quintessential diner experience. 10/10 no notes

Jasper is ready for his breakfast! Dianna's at Main St. TILTON NH opens early - just like the Good Old Days.

The service was quick and wonderful. The food was good and they were able to work around several food allergies. It was a delightful meal!

Patrons can pay to select music through an app, but the main hostess did not like my selections and placed about ten songs ahead of the ones I had already paid for. I then had to spend additional money in the app just to hear my songs. I enjoy this restaurant and its food, but customers who pay for jukebox selections should be able to hear them without staff interfering because of their personal music preferences.

The salads, burgers and flatbreads all looked good, but I decided to go with steak and cheese nachos and it was very tasty. I would say it could have been served a little warmer because the cheese had started to congeal by the time I got it, but the flavors were great. Also, I had a NH Old Fashioned that had local maple syrup and it was very good. The Milky Way (or Galaxy) cake we had for dessert was also good. I heard it called both. Like I said, service was very friendly but it could have been a little more attentive as our empty dishes sat for 20 minutes before we asked someone if we could order dessert. But that was a minor blip and overall, it was a nice lunch in a nice spot with a lively crowd.

We were headed to a concert that evening and, as usual when we're traveling, Yelp helped us find…read moredinner. Onions Pub & Restaurant turned out to be one of those places that makes you glad you trusted the reviews. Housed in the historic Tilton Inn, the restaurant has plenty of character before you even open the menu. We chose the pub side, which has a fun, relaxed atmosphere and felt like exactly the right place to kick off the evening. We started by sharing the French onion soup, and I'm glad we did. It was outstanding and easily one of the better versions I've had in quite some time. My partner ordered one of the entrée salads, which looked fresh, generous, and every bit as satisfying as my fish and chips. I paired the fish and chips with a Smithwick's Irish Red Ale. The fish was crisp, flaky, and satisfying--the kind of pub meal that's hard to improve on. The service added just as much to the experience as the food. Our waitress was also tending bar and happily shared the story behind both the historic inn and the restaurant's unusual name. As we learned, "Onion" is actually an affectionate nickname for Bermudians, a nod to the island's once-famous onion exports. Since the owner is half Bermudan, the name fits perfectly. She was one part bartender, one part server, and one part docent, and it made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Onions is a little quirky in all the right ways, with good food, welcoming people, and a setting that feels like it has stories to tell. If you're in the area--whether you're heading to a concert or just passing by on I-93--it's well worth the stop. Five stars.

The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for, a beautiful, local restaurant that was not a chain restaurant. Out of all the meals I had this week on my trip, this was by far the best I've had. I got a Pinot Noir, mouthwatering calamari, chicken parmesan with toasted garlic bread and pasta, and an incredible sweet potato & maple cheesecake to finish it all off.

The steak frites, five spice duck, and the Asian barbecue were really incredible. We also had the meatballs, crab Rangoon friend rice and some outstanding desserts at the end. We found parking…read moreright in front of the restaurant and were greeted as soon as we walked in by their friendly hostess. We were lucky to arrive without a reservation when we did because it quickly filled up with customers. The place is somewhat small and has an open kitchen concept. Outdoor seating is also available when weather permits. Please note that due to its size, they have only one unisex bathroom available. We started with the Gouda Tot Clam Dip. The picture posted on their website shows six potato tots, yet our serving came with four. It was pleasant and tasty. For my main course, I ordered the Peach Glazed Pork. The dish had a nice presentation. I found the pork to be drier than I would have expected, but it was still edible. I guess I had higher expectations. Despite a few minor disappointments, this is a charming local restaurant that is worth a visit, especially if you're in the area.

Service was great, especially considering how busy it was. The ladies behind the bar kept things moving! We ordered drinks (excellent Manhattan, btw) and some food. While waiting for the food, we had a nice chat with two locals who have lived here all their lives and that contributed to the fun vibe of the place. You hear about taciturn folks in the Northeast but we had several people talk to us, but then again, maybe we stuck out and everyone could easily tell we weren't local. In any event, it was lovely. The food was good too. Shrimp cocktail was on point but the highlight were the chicken tenders. The portion was gigantic...we were expecting maybe four tenders and there were something like eight! They were fried perfectly too. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside....really well done. As we were leaving, there were people already waiting for tables so this must be a very popular place to eat and based on my experience (friendly environment, great service, terrific food) it's not hard to see why. Definitely check out The Breeze if you're in the area.
