We were obviously inconveniencing our waitress by asking her to take our order and then delivering it to us. Won't be visiting again.

Good ol' fashioned greasy spoon, beloved by locals, reasonably priced, quick service... gets the job done in a spot near the water.

They have breakfast deals depending on the day. The food is kinda pricey but it was honestly pretty good. I felt like their portions were pretty big too! I think the only issue we had was with our waitress! She was pretty short with us and not very kind...I feel like we have had something similar to happen to us before! I had asked her if the home fries or hash browns were more popular, and she had a pretty short/rude response back! Although she seemed to warm up to our party by the time we left and it was time to leave a tip, she didn't come by much to see if we needed any refills! We tried to get her attention to get a coffee refill, and it was hard to get more! I think we ended up having someone go up to the counter to ask because it was so hard to get her attention! Overall, it was a pretty good experience! I normally don't get too worked up about the service not being the best, but she was pretty rude to us! I think I would come back but the service is really the only "bad" thing I have to say about the Olde Bay Diner if that's something that would bother someone! I would also caution against bringing a large party here! They would probably try to stick you at the bar which isn't the most comfortable!

We were there for the promise of a fantastic breakfast. The menu is manageable, lots of choices~all pitstop themed~ but not so many that it was a chore to choose. I decided on a 3 egg swiss and mushroom omelette. It was explained that toast was extra, which isn't the norm, at least in my experience. But I dove in and ordered Rye. My Son ordered 2eggs over easy, the potatoes (not the deep fried version), bacon, ham, sausage and 2 pancakes. This breakfast seemed to include a toast option, for those who are keeping score. The food was spectacular. Very well done, simply, and with no frills save for a killer playlist that included Bittersweet Symphony. You don't often find yourself sitting at a counter, eating breakfast with special toast and hear The Verve. Worth a mention. The service was crisp, thorough and we did get a lovely smile and thank you as we checked out. But at the end of it all, the food is, or should be the star. And it was.

Nope. We drive 90 minutes out of the way to bring my folks here because we were such fans. You stand up in the gift shop as you look through the menu then order and pay the gift shop clerk. Then you enter the diner. Drinks are self serve, there is soft drinks and hot and iced coffee. My husband was so initially turned off upon ordering that he just ordered an English muffin and a side of bacon. I got an iced coffee and it tasted strange. I only had a few sips. It was gross. Most of the food wasn't too bad, though. I will not go back. It was the most awkward restaurant experience I've ever had and my husband feels the same way.

This iconic little diner is set up inside a vintage trailer/box car style building right in the heart of downtown Biddeford. Seating is limited to about a dozen people at a time, so be prepared to wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. After my fiancée watched an episode of Somebody Feed Phil featuring the diner, we were on a mission to try their famous chicken sandwich. The sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype! It's huge, packed with flavor, and served with a fresh lettuce wedge salad on the side. The chicken had the perfect crispy exterior while staying juicy and delicious inside. We could only eat half and happily brought the rest home. Luckily, it was a beautiful Maine day and we didn't have to wait long for a seat. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and added to the fantastic overall vibe of the diner. One thing to know before you go -- the diner is cash only, but there's an ATM conveniently located right outside. If you love hidden gems, amazing comfort food, and unique local dining experiences, Palace Diner is definitely a must-visit spot in southern Maine. Highly recommended and absolutely worth the trip back!

I cannot even remember what I got but I remember thinking it was a waste of $. As for the ambiance-it's a fiber with a counter & stools (no tables), it was uncomfortable & freezing inside. Decided to give them a try for lunch, I have read so much about how amazing their fried chicken sandwich is, so I entered that online and see the sandwich is $22...to get fries with that it is another $8.50...ok, I think it's my birthday & my husband and I can split it all so that's only about $15 a piece. Go to put order in and there is an AUTOMATIC 22% gratuity added that cannot be changed or removed. Let me get this straight-ya'll are charging $30.50 for a chicken sandwich and fries (nothing special-no antibiotic free range chicken, probably saline packed chicken from China ‍) AND you think it's ok to tack on 22% tip for LUNCH TAKE OUT???? Sooooo that's $40.56 for a chicken sandwich and fries, tax + tip. ‍ Yeah, no. I would not eat here if they were the last restaurant on earth. I love supporting local, but how greedy can you be?

We were the only ones in the dining area; there were 2 gentleman at the bar & shortly after we ordered, a couple came in. It was a very slow night for Pub 23. It was extremely cold inside the restaurant, to start. The energy was lackluster from the 2 employees that we were in contact with. It felt like we were an inconvenience. Both my grandmother & I ordered the fish & chips. Mine arrived with not one, but TWO long strands of hair intertwined in the fries & intact with the fish. Wouldn't you think the first thing the waitress would do is take the entire plate back? No, the pieces that had hair on it were removed & the plate left in front of me. I sat there in shock thinking, "You expect me to eat this?" She returned 5 minutes later & took the plate to provide a fresh one AFTER we had to ask. For menu items, it is not recommended to get the steak & cheese or the Pub 23 burger. The burger was a total mess; had to be eaten with a fork & knife. The steak & cheese was salty & slathered in a sauce w/ chewy cubed steak. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My mother asked our waitress if they offer anything for birthdays or if they sing, etc. The waitress snapped with an attitude: "Um no, I don't sing". POSITIVES: The fried pickles are delicious & large! The parmesan wings were cooked well, nice flavor. I hate to say this but I have no desire to return.

This rustic restaurant and bar overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee boat launch. The place has table seating and seating at the full service bar. The food menu was recently updated (new items & prices in July 2025) including a selection of appetizers, wings, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, chicken tenders, steaks, fried haddock, lobster rolls, steamed lobster, BYO mac & cheese. The prices are moderate and similar to other restaurants in this area. I took a seat up at the bar after they opened at 11:30am. Most people arriving took seats at tables. I ordered the BYO Mac & Cheese ($16 plus tax) with cubed steak ($3 plus tax). My food came out in about 10 minutes. The portion size was pretty good which had rich creamy cheesy soft elbow macaroni topped with plenty of grilled tender pieces of steak, bleu cheese dipping cup on the side. There was also ketchup nearby if I wanted. I finished the entire entree and got the check which was $17.36 with tax and before tip. Overall, the mac & cheese with steak was pretty good and filling to eat. The service at the bar was adequate, though it started to get busy as I was finishing up lunch.
