They once did whole chicken which was pretty perfect outside on the old patio. Pretty much impossible to undercook something you smoked for hours but very easy to dry it out, and it was great. Actually brought the whole fam there that day including our dog. It's petfriendly outside. They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

One of us got a pint and the other a flight - in most of the flight glasses there was sediment or the glasses were just downright dirty.

Located in the center of the Gilmanton Historic District, "The Tavern" is an elegantly restored 14-room, 18th Century Colonial that served as an important way station for 18th Century travelers. Over the last month, the Pub has made awewsome changes in staff, menu, live music entertainment, and prices. For example, prices have undergone a significant reduction - nearly every food or beverage has been reduced from 12%-to-36%. Every appetizer, salad, dessert, and entrée has seen their prices lowered. The Lobster Ravioli is now $24, reduced from $35, a 34% reduction. Even pizzas have seen their prices cut. An 18-inch pizza is $11, down 15% from $13. Beverages have undergone similar cuts. A $14 glass of Dewars is now $9, a 36% drop. A "heavy pour" of J. Lohr Chardonnay is down from $13 to $9, a drop of 31%. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is quintessential old school New England. Check out the live music and the fire pit!

It took 20 minutes to get drink and that required prompting the staff. The food came out in stages. Spinach and artichoke dip was okay. The brisket was so awful. Looked like a small pile of meat left over from a French dip sandwich. The gumbo was overly seasoned with oregano, had no shrimp and the andouille sausage tasted more like kielbasa. The burger was fair but the chips were stale. The pizza came out 30 minutes after three of us at the table had already been given our entrees. I have no idea how anyone could recommend this place. Ever.

A dear friend just bought a condo near Newfound Lake and needed to attend the HOA meeting, so we decided to join with them afterwards and they searched the food offerings and came up with Kathleen's Irish Pub. Arriving at the place we noticed a sizable parking area although I am sure it's on overflow at St. Patty's Day. For a first timer, the premises used to be a hardware store so there are several doors and although the one that seems to be the main door, is not. The entrance is towards the front and there is a ramp to the main door Entering the Pub, there is an ample bar area and the food area is towards the left, facing Main Street. We were warmly greeted by a wonderful hostess whose demeanor and customer care was the best I've seen in a long time. We began the afternoon festivities with, of course, Guinness, certainly slow poured, which is good for you. My other half had their Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, creamy and tasty. The next course we had was their Giant Pretzel. Really giant. Baby Huey giant. It served as the appetizer for four of us. We got it with both, homemade beer cheese dipping sauce and the Irish Whiskey Dipping sauce. Both sauces are delicious, really so. Then they brought out the main courses; I had their delicious fish and chips. Perhaps one of the best, tastiest, crispy pieces of fish I've ever had. My spouse ordered the Galway Girl, a true half pound prime Black Angus burger topped by Swiss cheese and fried cheddar curds, poblano dressing and chips. The mix of the fried curds and meat and sauce was amazingly tasty. Another friend had the Boxty, basically a potato pancake filled with a delicious chicken stew. The quality of the food was amazing. Really so. But that wasn't enough, we ordered both, their Bread Pudding, and their Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Bread Pudding was amazing, but the Sticky Pudding was unequaled. I am glad we shared the dessert among four people... At the end of the lunch, the owner came in and engaged us in conversation. Affable, full of energy, friendly, and she knows the path of excellence where she's taking the place. We learned a second pub is planned for Franklin. If it is anywhere near the quality of Kathleen's, Franklin will have one superb eatery. Absolutely recommended.

But overall and current experience has been excellent. There is a mix of authentic Irish dishes and some Irish-ish fare. The Shepherds Pie and Fish and Chips are consistently excellent. Bangers and Mash is also, very good. Salads are fresh and appetizers good, though most are on the heavy side. Good selection, of beer and a number of memorable irish whiskies are available. Service is usually very good, especially when the owners are present. Everyone is friendly. We'll be back again. Very soon.
