It is difficult waiting til 3 pm to eat anywhere; but adding Bike Week in the area, made the wait even worse. However, my wait was only 10-15 minutes and was worth it! Being short staffed because of the current administration's addition of $300 to unemployment, many tables were being left unoccupied. The working staff, however, was not only efficient, but exceptionally pleasant. The food was equally 'on point'. I chose the seafood pizza, but asked the lobster to be withheld, since the cost for Lobster has increased since the menu was printed... $3 more for the pizza and $6 more for other meals with lobster. At $21 for a LUNCH 12" pizza, the additional $3 seemed ridiculous. My pizza was EXCELLENT!Lots of creamy, sweet cheese and plenty of shrimp and scallop chunks. Considering today's 'conditions' of restaurants being shoqrt-handed and increasing their lunch prices to 'the old' dinner, my meal was well worth it. I was nearly surrounded by the beautiful lake views and pleasant, happy guests. America at its best!

We were driving around and stopped into the diner for a late lunch. Luckily, we arrived shortly before their closing time of 1:30PM. We had the diner to ourselves. We were not super hungry, so we decided on a bowl of clam chowder for each of us. Wow - we were so impressed! It was thick and full of clams.

Stopped in for a quick bite before getting on the road. Small but clean, staff is polite, efficient, food was fresh, filling - would definitely recommend this spot for brunch.

Great breakfast. Good service. Classic diner feel. I don't believe there were options for parties larger than four people.

So disappointed that there wasn't a single GF item on the menu. My grandson and I are both GF so we will need to find an alternative.

This cute little diner serves up homecooked breakfast and lunch fare in Alton Bay. The prices here are very reasonable, most entrees $5-$12, a bargain in a very touristy area. The place is very cramped and cozy with 5 booths and 11 stools at the lunch counter, kitchen in the back. I stopped in here recently for lunch during the week on a Tuesday since I know many places in Alton Bay can get crazy busy on the weekends. I sat up at the lunch counter for prompt service. Also, the place was moderately busy during weekday lunch with all booths occupied. I ordered a weekday special, which was a Steak Tip Sub served with hand cut shoestring fries and soft drink (Coke fountain drinks) for only $7.50 plus tax. My food arrive hot in about 10 minutes. The steak tip sub was filled with tender pieces of grilled steak (cooked to my liking) and smothered with American cheese, grilled peppers and onions on a toasted firm hoagie roll. The handcut shoestring fries were golden and lightly salted. I took my time to enjoy my lunch and planning out my day on the lake. The lunch check with tax and before tip was $8.18. Overall, an excellent lunch at a very reasonable price with very prompt service, a quick kitchen operation and one waitress taking care of all booths and the lunch counter.

We were there for the promise of a fantastic breakfast. The menu is manageable, lots of choices~all pitstop themed~ but not so many that it was a chore to choose. I decided on a 3 egg swiss and mushroom omelette. It was explained that toast was extra, which isn't the norm, at least in my experience. But I dove in and ordered Rye. My Son ordered 2eggs over easy, the potatoes (not the deep fried version), bacon, ham, sausage and 2 pancakes. This breakfast seemed to include a toast option, for those who are keeping score. The food was spectacular. Very well done, simply, and with no frills save for a killer playlist that included Bittersweet Symphony. You don't often find yourself sitting at a counter, eating breakfast with special toast and hear The Verve. Worth a mention. The service was crisp, thorough and we did get a lovely smile and thank you as we checked out. But at the end of it all, the food is, or should be the star. And it was.

Most of the food wasn't too bad, though. I will not go back. It was the most awkward restaurant experience I've ever had and my husband feels the same way.

This iconic little diner is set up inside a vintage trailer/box car style building right in the heart of downtown Biddeford. Seating is limited to about a dozen people at a time, so be prepared to wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. After my fiancée watched an episode of Somebody Feed Phil featuring the diner, we were on a mission to try their famous chicken sandwich. The sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype! It's huge, packed with flavor, and served with a fresh lettuce wedge salad on the side. The chicken had the perfect crispy exterior while staying juicy and delicious inside. We could only eat half and happily brought the rest home. Luckily, it was a beautiful Maine day and we didn't have to wait long for a seat. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and added to the fantastic overall vibe of the diner. One thing to know before you go -- the diner is cash only, but there's an ATM conveniently located right outside. If you love hidden gems, amazing comfort food, and unique local dining experiences, Palace Diner is definitely a must-visit spot in southern Maine.
