A much needed stop on our drive from the Boston airport to our home in Vermont. We were starving and delirious from a day of travel and luckily The Common Man had everything we needed. I got their veggie wrap and my dad got their grilled cheese with hot honey. We also got a side of fries to share. The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The wrap was warm and flavorful and perfect. The service was so kind and the food came out quickly! This is located inside a rest stop space and its food court style seating with a handful of gift shops/food places around it. Our only complaint was that the space didn't seem to have a working air conditioning. Maybe they were just trying to get folks in and out and not to linger long? Love this big barn of a restaurant. The floor for upstairs dining is a beautiful spacious area. Tables are spread out well. Crackers and cheeses are offered before your meal. I've had their baked stuffed haddock that is delicious. Salads were fresh from a garden. Yankee Pot roast is tender and certainly a favorite. Our server was accommodating, considerate & sweet. Knowing what we may need as he checked in with us. We were never rushed while deciding what to order. I have eaten at the Concord Common Man many times before. It had always been good. This time was somewhat disappointing. The main dishes were quite good but there seems to be a lack of attention to detail. The service was less than prompt, the rolls were hard as rocks and even the lemonade was weak. I can't say enough. Stopped by twice on our three day stay. Thursday night there were ample open tables. We went to the pub because there was live music, sat at a table and had dinner and an app. Our waitress/ bartender, Heather, was amazing! The escargo was different from what we get in PA, and it was fabulous! We both had the Nantucket Pie and couldn't finish the dish. It was a welcome lunch at the hotel the next day! The next day we stopped by for a beer and an app. Had potato skins and brought back their daily special cheesecake. Heather nailed everything again! This local chain has restaurants all over the state! It was recommended by our host as well as TA. It was packed when we arrived so we opted to eat at the upstairs bar. The service was great and the food was perfect comfort fare. I ordered two autumn specials a fall salad with feta and sweet pumpkin seeds and the pumpkin ravioli. It is a super cute restaurant with amazing homemade pink bread. There is a cheese and crackers station that is self serve. They have a large kids menu and offer many comfort food options like chicken pot pie. It is pretty casual and has a big parking lot. Stopped in for a quick dinner this past Friday on our way to the White Mountains. Hard to find a parking spot with the lot full and no clear direction as to where to park. The interior was well taken care of and the tables set with simple utensils. I ordered the meatloaf which came with a side of mashed potatoes. Both were so very bland and tasteless. The meatloaf was more mushy almost like the hamburg had been put in a food processor. Others at our table also noted that lots of salt was needed on their meals too. Dessert was a misfire for one of my table companions as we had ordered two sundaes and an apple empanada. They delivered the two sundaes and a crème brûle . They apologized and took the brûle away to get the empanada but we had finished our sundaes and were still waiting for their dessert to arrive. Backstory: My mostly white family was in Concord for a wedding. We went for dinner Friday night. (My quietest aunt described the night as horrific.) At the restaurant, we watched people who got there after us get seated and offered bread while we waited standing for an hour and a half. When we got to the table, we were told the manager had said we could not order alcohol. I was with my family of 60 and 70 year olds, all of us completely sober. On top of that, the waiters seemed to not hide the fact they were avoiding us. They did not serve us bread, either. So basically, we ate crackers for 2.5 hours before finally receiving food. This was our second attempt to come here as it was too busy last time. The service was very good and the staff friendly. With respect to the food, it had excellent flavor. From the lobster corn chowder to the pot pie to the sweet corn bacon raviolis, they all tasted great. The only issue we had and what kept this from 5 stars was the temperature of the food. The Arancini balls tasted great, but were ice cold in the center. They did take them back and returned them fully cooked. But after we left my wife told me that her raviolis were also cold in the middle, but she didn't want to be "one of those people" and complain a second time. My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday for a birthday lunch for his dad. It was quite busy with a full parking lot by 12:30, but you can drive down the dead end road to loop around and park in their overflow parking. There was an hour wait so we walked upstairs to the bar and managed to find seating at a high top. Since it was his dad's birthday, we ordered his very first filet mignon, medium rare, but it came out well done. My boyfriend's steak tips were nice and juicy. My burrata salad had flavorful veggies and peaches, but overall it was a bit lackluster. I also got the ahi on the side, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Had an early dinner with family. The common man is always great for comfort food. We ordered the muscles as an appetizer they were plump and juicy and full of flavor. For dinner, we had two chicken pot pies, one pot roast, and baked scallops with a side order of mac & cheese. All the food was very good and as always was a nice portion. Amelia was our lovely server, very attentive and helpful, yet she didn't hang over the table. We ordered two desserts that were very large and tasted amazing. Went last night for takeout. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming. Food order was processed and finished quickly. The quality of the food was as equally great. Except for one detail that is soooo easy not to screw up but, in my opinion, a huge screw up.. I made it very clear that I DID NOT want anything to do with a PICKLE near my food.. I get home, open my meal and it reeks of pickle juice. And not only that, the pickle was stuffed under my sandwich and fries, which now 1/3 of my meal has soaked up pickle juice. It'd be like someone taking a dump on a Picasso. That's what your worker did to my meal and experience so I thank you for that. Also tipped the take out decently as well so it's just like Come on Man!!!! Get it?! either way, I'll be back but now I know what to watch out for with you pickle lovers. The food here is excellent! I got grilled steak with a bacon Chimichurri sauce. It was incredible. Two of us ate there for $70 which included an app and dessert. They have a sign above the door that says "don't want to wait -order something and we can send you packing " which I thought was interesting until we went to be seated. we had called ahead and according to the messages they were sending us on our phone we only had 15 minutes to wait, then 10 minutes to wait, then six minutes to wait so we showed up early earlier than our 530 time - Only to learn that they take walk-ins ahead of Call-ins ...so even though we were told that we have a table in 15 minutes just seconds before we walked in they seated another large party. We were told that we could be seated after they finished which would be probably an hour and 20 minutes We weren't the only people they did that to- apparently that's their system (as they explained) And although they didn't lack for business they had many disgruntled customers walking away after thinking they had seating - so their explanation was they didn't take reservations they just took Call-in but if somebody came in before the call-in got there, they got preference and the call-ins were just out of luck - and hangry read more

We have gone many times and normally enjoy this cozy restaurant, however last Sunday when we went for my grandmother's 88th bday my espresso martini was 3/4 full, grandmother's steak was tough, and my mother got food poisoning with Asian bowl. She was disappointed that it the bowl only had peppers. No green veggies. Yes, she called and told management about the food poisoning, which kicked in a few hours later and lasted until the next day. The drinks also take a long time to come. So we will be taking a break from here. I do like that they are a community based restaurant that helps Ukraine, but they seem to be going downhill in quality. read more

This was worthy of a 4 1/2 stars, we arrived just as they opened for the afternoon and we were a party 10 and the staff and kitchen handled everything fabulously!! We had a variety from a great menu with lots of choices and everything was delicious with large portions. we ordered haddock and it came with a side of white rice and cut zucchini. the rice was dry and plain. no seasoning. the haddock only had crushed crackers on top no flavor and the veggies were not flavorful either. we had the south west chicken. it was very hot and spicy which was not indicated in a rating system. it was not very good. we don't usually leave reviews but because eating out is so expensive you should get your moneys worth. we feel the quality of food did not match the reputation this restaurant has had in the past. sorry common man:( below average read more

I had the grill room steak and it was exquisite cooked to perfection. Our server, Talia, was also excellent, refilled all of our drinks quickly and would check in when necessary. I've only experienced the common man one time so far and I was not disappointed! I got a Mexican bowl that was good, but the highlight was the banana bread old fashioned. This was a very exciting take on an a classic drink. The service was great and friendly, and the ambiance was different! Amazing find, I have no idea why it doesn't have more stars! The ambiance is really unique with vintage comic books, antiques, and artifacts all in one spot.
