Sort of a hidden gem and relatively new coffee spot. Cute and modern seating with a full brunch menu and the option for table service. We wanted a quick drink and maybe sit for a few minutes, but they force you to have table service which really slows things down. I really want to give this place 4 stars, but it's changed quite a bit since the owner stopped coming on the weekends. The chef is the same, and the food gets 5 stars. The staff just doesn't seem able to keep up with the pace and we have decided to stop going because the wait for your food could literally be 40 minutes. When you're there with children, that's a problem. And when they don't get your order right, there is no expedited service. You could wait another 20-30 minutes for something they forgot to put in or misheard. I was originally ecstatic about this place, but it may have gotten too popular too quickly and so the service has been really compromised. Hope they get a 2nd amazing chef to help get those food orders out quicker. read more

Rockstar! I think this is an immediate hit for the area that is lacking a local coffee shop. They also serve a great breakfast fare. You can order your favorite coffee and an amazing breakfast to go along with it. They do not have the Cheesecake factory menu with anything and everything, but is exactly the right amount done right. I've been there twice and the service was excellent both times. The place is spotless and the food is fresh. I would urge any Starbucks or Dunkin' loyalists to try some real coffee and support a local business in the process. We love Common Grounds. As Australian Expats we've longed for a good spot to get a decent coffee and it's finally here. On Sunday morning my family of 4 arrived for breakfast, then shortly after a friend in the area stopped in to see us and so mid breakfast we placed a order for to go coffee's for him, he pulled up some seats and chatted while waiting. Following that two more friends called and we encouraged them to swing buy and have breakfast with us, we threw more orders at our server and added more seats... it was a wonderful morning. It is so great to have a nice spot to meet and enjoy time with friends, the perfect setting for such a Sunday morning. On this particular Morning the shop was busy and the staff seemed short handed, Our server Camelia (i'm sorry if i've spelt this wrong), gracefully dealt with out ever increasing group and multiple cups of coffee and tea, Avocado toast (soooo good) and she didn't skip a beat, chatty and friendly such a wonderful person to have on staff. My friend and I just visited this delightful new cafe in the area for the first time for Sunday brunch. This place is a must-visit: it's got a great vibe, it's got great food, and it's got great service. The sweets are especially amazing: almond croissants, orange olive oil cakes, chocolate truffles, etc. Our server Camilia (sp?) was super sweet and made the experience even that much better. This is a new spot in Yorktown and it is great! The menu is not super large but many interesting items. Our group of 4 went for breakfast and 2 had the Bacon egg and cheese on bricoche and 2 had the avocado toast. I had a specialty latte - amaretto and it was delicious but not something you could have more than one of as it was sweet! Food was prepared and presented very nicely. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and the service was very good. I loved that the server brought the credit card reader to the table instead of taking my card to the counter. Saw the reviews and wanted to check the place out for myself. The staff were incredibly friendly and hard working, and the Cinnamon Pumpkin cake was delicious! The Interior was well decorated and clean, I will definitely be coming back with my friends in the future. I went to Common Grounds with my mother this morning. We had an excellent experience. The bacon and cheese omelet and the ham and Swiss croissant were delicious, the presentation was beautiful, and my mother is still raving about the cappuccino hours later. Menu have a great variety of options for every type of eater ( even the picky one of the house was able to eat - always have a hard time when we try new places ). I am a sucker for a caramel flavored anything, so I got an iced caramel latte. AND LET ME TELL YOU THE BEST ONE IVE HAD IN MY LIFE. I wish I was kidding. I've been wanting to check this place out and just never got around to it until today. And wow! This place is the best!! My friend and I walked in for lunch and were greeted with such a warm welcome. The place has a really cool vibe. I ordered the caprese avacado toast, and both the presentation and taste wildly exceeded my expectations! I'm not a foodie, so the fact that I would gladly go right back today and eat it again for dinner says a lot! (I won't, but I would! Haha) Every staff member was down to earth and so kind.
