Expected more from a 4.5 star hotel. No ice machines. You have to ask for everything. Coffee? there's a coffee shop downstairs. Iron? Ask for it. Ironing board? Ask for it, and it's the elfling sized ones. No bedside lamps, no reading lights...I guess I can tell you what they do give you, it's a shorter list. Shower gels, soaps, bed and 2 free small bottles of water. I asked for them to give a room a spruce, even said please, but never happened. toured the city, came back and expected a refreshed room...nope. Oh well, was hoping for a 4.5 star stay, but gonna stick with the Marriott chains, at least you know what you're expecting, in room coffee bar, fridges and a freshly made bed. read more

Such a delicious, classy new cafe in Cross River, with comfy couches, booth seating, and incredible creamy chai latte and strong cappuccino. You can smell the coffee beans from the parking lot, the incredible sent wafting and reeling you in. Loved their spinach-onion quiche. Their foods are expensive and not made there, but they're fresh and their baked goods come from Sprout Creek Bakery up near Fishkill and look great. A cozy yoga studio is upstairs with a whole fleet of classes. Coming back for a cinnamon roll, the chai latte, and a spot on the couch. 5 stars!!!! read more

I don't find myself up in Cross River much but my friend and I needed to find a meeting spot that was close to Pound Ridge and we decided on The Boro. Located in the heart of the town, it has a nice parking lot and for a cloudy Saturday morning it was still pretty busy! They have a nice grocery section as well as a counter you can order breakfast/lunch items as well as coffee. The menu seemed extensive! I ordered a slice of quiche and an iced americano. The quiche was yummy but not very filling, maybe next time I will order a smoothie or avocado toast! read more

Great place to visit with family and friends. Quality coffee, quality lattes Ample space. Great food, pastries and drinks. The portions are great, and they use high quality ingredients for the price point they are at. They also have a lot of their in-house menu items created by the registered dietician in the same building. WARNING: No outlets. NONE. Not one...seemingly, on purpose. The good? Lovely, fresh, new space. The coffee was solid. The breakfast sandwich I had was hot, delicious and generous. The wi-fi was fine. The bathroom was spacious and clean. There are booths, chairs and a lovely sofa area in front of a fireplace. The bad? (Which is, frankly, a major deal breaker.) When I first arrived, I looked around the cafe, but I couldn't find any outlets. When I asked a barista if there were any outlets, she said - and I quote - "We don't do outlets." Um...what? You're a coffee shop. You don't DO outlets? Why not? You don't like the aesthetic of cords? Or, more likely (though I'm making an assumption here) you don't like people to work on a laptop for more than an hour or two, which feels a little hostile. And maybe more importantly, for the bottom line of your coffee shop, it's a little foolish and short-sighted. When I walked in, I bought breakfast and I would have purchased lunch, too, but my laptop ran out of juice, so Tusk and Cup in Ridgefield (which, by the way, has TONS of outlets) got my lunch business. Long ago, I committed to buying one thing for evert hour I spend at a coffee shop. When I got to Boro, I bought a coffee and breakfast sandwich (neither of which were cheap.) But I figure a purchase an hour is a fair trade for your seating, electricity and wi-fi. And heck, it keeps your tables full with quiet folks minding their own business and paying for the privilege of sitting in your establishment, making it look popular and full. Please consider adding outlets to one area of your charming cafe so that people who want to work (and buy your food and drink, and recommend your coffee shop to others) will come back. The ambiance is great.. lovely and comfortable. The coffee is good. But considering their competition.... they are a distant second on the food. I want this place to succeed. My suggestion .. get better baked goods .. what I had on two visits, was dry and unappetizing. The sandwiches are ok. Maybe a little research on the other places Bobos, Market at Union Hall, living Sanctuary, or even LMNOP or Hayfields.. would help with ideas on the food/baked goods. A price check would also be in order.. I don't mind paying higher prices but the quality of the product needs to merit that. BUT, It is definitely a lovely place to hang out in and sip a coffee or tea! For that, I will be back. read more

I got their SF toasted almond latte and I can't stop thinking about it. SO good. The team was very friendly and welcoming, and the space was beautiful! I give the much anticipated The Boro 2 stars, which is generous. They received two because it took so long to build/open this place that I felt their perseverance earned that. Plus, offering coffee on the way out of town will always get at least 2 stars from me. BUT, honestly, a total disappointment. Staff was unhelpful, unknowledgeable and at one point, rude. Training can only overcome some of that and it's not how I choose to start or or end my day. Food was a "whatever". Much is pre-packaged and not worth the price with all the better options offered in the surrounding area. And generally not good. Coffee drink was fine. Normal. Nothing special. Went there twice so far and will return. The food is mostly prepackaged in-the refrigerator section where they sell salads, soups and sandwiches. They make paninis by grilling the sandwich. They have nice pastries and good bread. The staff is friendly and ambiance is very nice indoors or outdoors. Very chic place. read more

I went in to get a tea and see if this would be a place I would frequent every morning on my way to work. Starbucks is a little bit out of the way. I walked in. Two people behind the counter, one on the floor by the front door. Nobody else in the whole store. It was like deer in the headlights. For everyone there. People stood there, looking at me with solemn faces. Maybe they didn't see me? It was uncomfortable. Didn't know which registered to go to order. I walk to one, nobody said anything. I stood there for a minute and the girl is just standing at the other register. She didn't say, "how can I help you"? or please come over here to order. She just atiod there like she was hiding. I walked over to her and ordered. Apparently they didn't enough cash in the register fi my tea so the lady on the floor by the front t door called out "get a card"... so she knew I was there, but still never greeted me. Oddly enough, when I left the place and got back into my car and I was sitting for a bit and drinking. Two ladies pulled up and went in. Five minutes later, the same two ladies came out only one with a drink. The other one got nothing and was complaining about how the bad it was in there. She said "they couldnt be bothered that's the feeling I got ". The other one said "at least the coffee is good". I give it six months max if they don't add some warmth or customer service to their atmosphere. You can get coffee or tea anywhere. Really enjoyed this cafe for an afternoon with my husband. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere is relaxed. Really enjoyed the latte and coffee we had and the scones and raspberry bar was delicious. I got overnight oats and it was the perfect breakfast for my next day. very yummy chai! awful matcha though, like probably the worst i have ever had. the place itself is a very beautiful building, nice and modern. i love that they have outdoor patio seating. i live in the city so sitting outside in the fresh air to do work and enjoy my coffee is a luxury for sure. but i have to say, its lacking warmth and ambiance. the people who work there don't seem very nice or very helpful. i am under the impression that they just opened... so you'd think they would make more of an effort to make it an inviting environment. ambiance was mid, my chai was delicious. not sure if id come back read more
