This little ice cream shop is the stuff of dreams! We're talking good ol' fashioned, delicious, homemade ice cream and waffle cones, made with love by one woman, with such fresh ingredients. Love the Dutch Cookie Delight (the speculoos flavor), the Decadence (coffee with bits of brownie), and the Grasshopper (mint ice cream with chocolate chips). Everything is refreshing and even clean tasting, since nothing is artificial. In fact, the waffle cones are so fresh here, that they fold as you get to the bottom of the cone. So crispy and light. Have been a few times and won't be back. The vegan mint chip ice cream did not have "chips" or chocolate flakes throughout, very icy in consistency. Asked for sprinkles during one trip and maybe got one teaspoon- when asked for more (the jar being right in front of her) the owner got upset/flustered and said we would have to wait until after the group behind us ordered and were served. Extremely slow service and very over priced- I am in this industry and very much appreciate her dedication to making everything by hand and sourcing of ingredients but the ice cream/service does not live up to the price. Previous reviews are spot on... First off - CASH ONLY. Ughhhh. 5 stars for the ice cream - it is SO good. The owner makes it all herself. We asked questions about all the flavors, etc. A lot of the flavors have pieces of cookie or something in them. My daughter got chocolate pudding. My husband and I each got a scoop of lemon cookie and he got a scoop of the Stout and I got a scoop of the Almond Macaroon. All delicious! The Stumptown coffee came home as a pint (the coffee bean pieces - YUM). 3 stars for the prices - it is not cheap. A pint to take home is $12. Single scoop cones are $4-something. If you want to split your single scoop into two flavors, there's an additional $1-something charge. There's a charge for every additional scoop too. We got 3 cones (1 1 scoop in a dish, 2 2 scoops in waffle cones because that was the only option) and a pint to take home for $36, I believe. Minus the pint it was $24 for 3 cones? If all you have is waffle cones, you shouldn't be charging for them since I don't have a choice... Other random comments: I wish the inside decor was a bit better. There's just STUFF all over. Maybe because it's near a high school? But books, games, tchotchke toys, a black board to write on etc. We had to ask for napkins. There should be dispensers out in an ice cream shop. There are also baked goods available but I didn't have any so can't speak to those. As a couple other savvy Yelpers noted, this spot is prohibitively expensive. The ice cream is alright, but it is not of some superior quality. And the real sad part of what goes on here, is the portions that they serve are very SMALL ! What they serve as "2 scoops" would be classified as 1 scoop at 90% of other ice cream joints. And what they serve as "1 scoop" would simply not be served by ANY other ice cream establishment. This 1 scoop portion which cost about $4 was about 2 spoon fulls. The ice cream was "ok" pretty bland. What turned me off the most is we got a slice of cake (that looked delicious) the cake was DRY, STALE and old and she charged us An arm and a leg for the tiniest sliver. I mean after spending $40 on ice cream and knowing your cake was old and stale you could've given a bigger piece! Will not be returning and I'm shocked they remain in business. The ice cream is creamy, rich and delicious! The flavors are unique. Stump town coffee tastes like a creamy cup of iced coffee! Barbara, the owner, is a tireless one-woman operation. She makes the ice cream and the waffle cones and provides wonderful service. My foodie friend and I drove 40 minutes to try this ice cream and it was worth the trip.
