I love these guys. They have moved my workshop TWICE and basically, it's as close to Star Trek shit as you can get. The crew shows up, sparkles and twinkly sounds occur, and the cargo disappears from the old location, only to re-materialize in the destination. WELL OK so it doesn't quite work like that, but it IS the next best thing. They wrap the stuff for me, load it in the truck, unload, I don't have to do a damn thing and frankly, I get plenty worn out on my own job as is. Besides, if I tried to move the shop all by myself, I'd have to rent a truck for a few weeks, gas it up, hire help etc. by the time it's all said and done, I havent' saved any money and i've taken a month to do what these guys do in a day. Never gonna beat that for the value proposition. Just save yourself the time and aggrivation and hire these guys alright? read more

My wife and I recently sold our house in the Bay Area and bought a house in San Diego to be closer to our kids. We didn't have any idea who to use as a moving company, but our realtor recommended Commander. It turned out to be a great recommendation. We had a fairly complicated need to move part of our possessions to one house and the rest to another house. The team at Commander brought two trucks to our house early in the morning on moving day, separated everything out as needed, and made the long drive from Northern California to Southern California the same day. Owner Karel and team leaders Mike and Frankie were friendly, fast, responsive, and super competent. Along with their guys, they were like the Seal Team Six of movers -- they got in, got out, and got the job done with supreme efficiency. Believe me, both of those trucks were packed, and a lot of it was heavy stuff. Their rates were fair and reasonable. To cap it all off -- and I see this as a mark of their honesty and trustworthiness -- they ultimately charged us a little less than they had originally estimated. I highly, highly recommend Commander Moving. read more

They moved me from a 1+den sized house into 3rd floor studio apartment in SF! TJ and Rocky were an amazing team! They were really nice, fast and hardworking! And they came right on time and were actually about 5 minutes early. They moved me in about 6 hours (with the help of 2 very strong little women at the unload end!). I had a lot of boxes so if I only had a few with furniture I'm confident they would have been able to do it faster. I really like how they have an all-inclusive pricing (plus double drive time cost though). There's absolutely no hidden fees and I was able to estimate how much the move would cost. Like many moving companies I've worked with, they offer a small discount if you pay in cash!! A little helps a lot when moving! My only complaints: I was surprised they didn't Saran Wrap any part of my mattress - even the bottom part that would touch the ground and I didn't realize it until I watched them dragging it down the hallway from the elevator! This is the Tenderloin - who knows what germs are in the hallway!!! (Yuck. You bet I disinfected my mattress!) During my last move movers had wrapped the entire thing with plastic so I was just surprised they didn't. Also, boxes were placed on top of boxes I had marked "fragile". Luckily nothing is broken.... I think.... I actually haven't finished unpacking dishes yet... Added 09/25/13: Just wanted to note that their customer service is pretty fantastic! I got a response to my review and they offered to make up for the broken glass! That tells me they actually care about the customers and the kind of service they provide. read more

Commander Moving - Dammit. Yup... One casualty. I'm so disappointed :( - Movers Near Me - Danville, California

This review is long overdue. I have used Commander Moving several times. Due to circumstances, I had to reschedule my last move. They were very understanding and flexible. Communication was always very easy and friendly. Karel was so nice. She made the stressful moving situation less so. The moving team was also excellent. They safely moved everything without breakage or even a scratch. Everything was properly padded and wrapped. It is so rare to find a business that pays attention to every detail to make it work so smoothly. I highly recommend them! read more

We loved Commander Moving (CM); they are excellent! My husband and I interviewed 3 moving companies and CM stood out for pricing and customer service. They packed up our family home in Berkeley, kept our furniture, rugs, and boxes in the CM warehouse for 8 months, and yesterday unloaded everything at our new home in Rossmoor. They are fast, friendly, and extra careful. Yesterday Efrein was the driver with Rigo and Alex helping. All were terrific and the final price was the low estimate. They work non-stop and are flexible in placing furniture and moving boxes. Go CM!! read more

I've moved several times over the last few years - both by myself and using companies to do the lifting - and this was by far my best experience. Starting from the estimate, Julian was efficient and very nice during his tour and provided a transparent estimate. Then, with the packing, Sammy and Emilio did a tremendous job packing quickly and asking clarifying questions when needed. They packed well within the estimated time. And on move-in day, Sammy, Emilio, Ricky, and Dom did a fantastic job moving quickly and carefully. They are incredibly efficient - no clue how they can carry so many boxes at once. Again, they finished the move well within the estimated time - even ahead of time. In total, the move was ~10% below the estimate (even after adding materials). I'm very pleased with Commander and would recommend them to all of my friends. Thanks! read more

I had a high-priority office reset/move that I needed to turn around in 24 hours. I was lucky enough to get Ruth on the phone from Commander Moving and she go me set up first thing the following morning. I think she sent me the "A" team because Carlos and Adam were quick, quiet, clean, and very accommodating of the process I had that needed to get done. They were in and out in bout 3 hours, saving the day for me and the company! We will definitely call them again if we have any future needs! read more

This story begins with researching several movers to help disassemble, wrap and move furniture to storage for a future overseas move by shipping container. This is my first time hiring movers, so I tried my best to compare apples to apples, be cost-efficient, yet select the most capable and professional movers possible. This was also to be a working interview for the movers since I will need to have all the contents of our 2 bedroom house loaded onto the shipping container in a few weeks. And ideally within 3 hours according to the shipping container contract. Barry, project coordinator, was extremely accommodating about working with me to come up with an estimate sight unseen. I had very limited time during the work week to communicate, so email was the only way to go and Barry always responded swiftly. The whole moving process became more overwhelming by the week. Not only did contents need to be boxed up, but also itemized and inventoried for the overseas shipping move. As moving day approached, and my anxiety escalated, Barry remained calm and understanding even though I almost short notice canceled in order to save on some costs. The day of the move, Barry asked if I'd mind switching moving time windows from morning to afternoon. He seemed genuinely concerned about how this might impact our plans for the day. In the end, we needed the extra time to be ready for the movers. And despite my spat of flakiness a few days before, Barry was genuinely grateful for my willingness to be flexible in order to help them out. The movers Rory and Gerry were outstanding! Clearly, they had a lot of moving experience based on how efficiently they moved through room by room and wrapped up the furniture. I was very impressed at how they communicated with each other, worked independently and then as a team at appropriate times without slowing down the process. At my request, they always double checked with me that I had labeled and inventoried each item before taking it out to the moving van. And their strength! Unbelievable! These two are beasts! After my first experience with Commander Moving, I have no doubt that they are the ones I can count on to load my shipping container in a safe, logical manner and in record time. Thank you Commander Moving. I look forward to working with you again soon! read more

We have used Commander for several moves and I recommend them highly!! The estimate was fair and clearly set forth. And they stuck to it! The scheduling was professional with great communication from the office and the team on their way. Did I mention the team arrived on time and ready to go? Yup. This was a quick on-site move. Commander's team - Adam, Manny and Roman - were awesome. Polite, hard-working, smart, careful and efficient. They asked questions and made helpful suggestions. They were super nice - even when I made them switch things around in the room several times. A big thank you to Commander, Adam, Manny and Roman! read more

Commander moving did an AMAZING job helping me move out of my sf apartment, to the east bay. They were recommended to me and their service was well worth it. They carefully took our boxes without complaint and tossed our broken junk furniture. They did a great job protecting some of our larger things (mirrors, paintings, etc). The movers - Efrain, Alberto, and Rigo - were very nice, professional, and accommodating to our requests. Would definitely hire in the future! read more

Commander Moving - Movers Near Me - Danville, California

My first move in 20 years, so naturally I turn to Yelp. There are several well recommended movers, so I started with Commander. They were quick to respond, set up a visit to give me an estimate, and within a week I had an estimate that came close to what I imagined it would be. However, just before confirming, the COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place hit us. Like many, I went off the grid for 3 months. When I began to stir from my slumbers, Commander was one of the first contacts I made. They didn't miss a beat. My move was scheduled, my estimate affirmed, and we were set. I have several very large and valuable pieces of art. I. Needn't have worried. The crew who showed up to move me, Peter, Alex and Rory were great. They treated my stuff with respect and carefully wrapped fixes and those pieces of art and furniture that I hadn't been able to get to. They loaded the truck skillfully and quickly. The crew captain, Rory, kept the gang focused even as he kept me reassured. This is only chapter 1 of my moving adventure. I'll do a chapter 2 when I find my forever home and get my stuff delivered. In the meanwhile, I thank the crew at Commander for their help, all of them, even Gina in the office and the Commander himself. read more

A big thank you to Commander Moving. The men were very professional and hard working. They made our move in and out of our condo very easy. Things were taken down and wrapped carefully and quickly. The men that did the heavy lifting were great. I can totally recommend your excellent company. Thank you so much. Linda and Merrill Schwartz read more

Moving is always a drag, but Commander makes the process as painless as possible. Ruth was a great resource for information when I scheduled the date and was in contact a few times leading up to our move. Adam, Manny and Ian arrived right on time and had a great attitude - most importantly, they were fast! And very efficient. They often checked in about moving certain items to make sure they were okay to proceed, which I really appreciated. They even moved large items around in the new apartment when we changed our mind during our move! In total, our move from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom took less than 5 hours (including travel within the peninsula) and cost around $800 (off season rate). Fantastic value and saved my back! Would highly recommend Commander for any move and would use them again next time. read more

We had an excellent experience with Commander Moving today. The mover we had contracted got sick and canceled less than 24 hours before our scheduled move. Ruth was able to provide a quote quickly and Adam, Manuel and Luis came first thing in the morning. They were helpful, efficient and made the process very easy. Thank you! read more

They were generally professional people and did a good job. It was a quick and painless move. However we thought they could have been more careful with one piece of furniture which ended up getting scratches on it. They did not spend the time to wrap the items properly. The other qualm we had is they sent over three guys instead of the two which we contracted. Because of the extra guy we ended paying up more than we were originally quoted. read more

Awesome team of movers. Commander Moving was easy to work with, accommodating, and reliable. We worked with Barry to coordination the move and he made it very easy. Rory, Victor and Dominik helped us move out of our apartment in SF and in to our new home in Oakland. These guys were fast, friendly, and were very transparent about the day-of moving process. They taped everything up, added padding where needed and everything arrived intact. Great price, would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends and family. read more

I reached out to Commander Moving through yelp. They were very responsive and even came out to my home to give me an estimate. I really appreciate them coming out to my home to give me an estimate because it makes me feel important enough as a customer. Charlie was the estimator who came out to my home along with Solomon. They took a good look and gave me all the details and how most efficient it would be to move everything out and into my new place. The face to face is important because I am entrusting this company with all my personal belongings and they are very trustworthy. When it came to moving day, everything ran very smoothly and efficiently. Big shout out to the strong guys (Amos, Mike, Martin, Ross and Gerry). Thanks for all your efforts! We really appreciate it! If you are looking for a moving company, definitely check these guys out. They will not disappoint and you will be happy you did. read more

My wife and I are moving from Oakland to Honolulu and needed to have a shipping container filled with all of our stuff. Sammy, Antonio, and Martin did a great job playing Tetris with our furniture and boxes and managed to get our entire apartment into the 20 foot container with some room to spare - and they did it _fast_. I am super satisfied with the results! My mother in law will also be using commander Moving in the coming weeks and she is even more assured that it will go well. read more

I used this company twice. Once to move my partner into her house and a few months later to move in with her. They are kind, efficient, safe, affordable and get the job done FAST! I moved about 60 miles north from where I was living and commander moving was very professional the whole way through. I confirmed three movers to show up on a Monday morning, and four showed up instead which bumped the price up per hour. I was initially a bit put off, but then I realized that the time they saved means that I wasn't paying that much more. These guys are strong, fit, quick, and well mannered! I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to take a moment to rave about Commander Moving!! It started with a call to schedule the move with Ruth in the office. It was immediately obvious that she was calm under pressure, that she genuinely understood the stress of moving and would be there for us no matter what we needed. When they came over to pack and move us, all of that proved to be true! Carlos, Leo, Ever and Rigo arrived promptly and FLAWLESSLY powered their way through a difficult move DURING A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR!! They kept their energy high and their attitudes positive for 11 GRUELING HOURS! Then we threw more complications at them: 1. We need this 6.5' armoire to go into a hallway with a 6.6' ceiling height! "No problem!", they said. 2. We have a quartz countertop in the garage that needs to go to the first floor! "No problem!", they said. These guys were absolutely incredible! I hope I don't have to move again for a long time, but when I do, you can bet that Commander Moving will be my first call. They should be your first call too. read more

I'm so happy I chose Commander Moving for my move from Oakland to SF. From getting an estimate to the actual move, everything was so smooth. Ruth, who handled the scheduling, was so reassuring and kind. The moving guys, Irvin, Rigo, and Efrain, were amazingly fast and efficient. Moving stuff from a 2nd floor Victorian walk-up into a condo that has no loading dock AND a long circuitous route to get to my 12th floor apartment is a pain but these guys didn't even sweat. Great move led by Ira just now. Friendly, effective, fast, made the whole move low stress. We even added in an extra stop to drop off a heavy stationary bike at a friend's place. That one was pretty tricky- a winding, twisting, steep, old narrow staircase, with just inches of clearance on all sides (including the ceiling). They handled it no problem. Parking on our street was kind of a pain, but they handled that no problem. They'll do any type of move, from just picking up a bunch of pre-packed boxes, to wrapping up all your furniture, to the full white-glove treatment of packing everything up, moving it, and then putting every cup in it's place in the cupboard in the new apartment. Reasonable and up-front rates, flexible timing. And again, friendly and helpful people, especially our move-leader Ira, who was helped by Sammy & Petr. read more

First, Karel the owner came before the move to assess the items being moved (3 bedroom, 2 bathroom) and give me an estimate. He arrived on time and was very friendly and thorough. The estimate was very fair with a not to exceed amount, which worked very well within my budget. The day of the move, the movers arrived on time, and the weather was awful with rain and wind. They were very professional and did an amazing job. The weather did not hamper their ability to do their job with extreme efficiency. They kept their focus on the move, but were also very friendly with a sense of humor. Despite the weather, they were able to get all items moved in a timely manner, and I did not pay the not to exceed amount. I have moved many times over the past 12+ years, and this company by far exceeded my expectations compared to other movers I have used. I will definitely use them on my next move, but hoping there is not a next time. I will however refer them to anyone needing a competent, thorough, and honest moving company.
