Wonderful communication, on time and professional service, friendly, competent. Good value for service.

Wow, I could not have been more impressed with the professionalism, courtesy and speed of the Commander Moving team! On 12/1/18, Frankie, Fabrizio, and Peter worked quickly to carefully wrap up my furniture -- I'd never seen my couch so well protected in blankets and plastic wrap. In 4 hours flat, they loaded, transported, and unloaded my belongings of a 1-bedroom apartment from Oakland to Alameda. I would recommend them highly, and I will call on them for my next move. 5-star plus UPDATE AUGUST 2020: I moved again, and used Commander. Again, I was very happy to do so, they are a great team. Albert, David, and Alex worked quickly to move me from Alameda to Lafayette quickly and safely. They have my whole-hearted recommendation read more

We used Commander Moving this week and could not be more happy. Amos, Mike, Dominik, and Peter were professional, efficient, careful, and incredibly fast. All of our stuff arrived safely at the new place, with no breakages or scratches. They made sure to walk through the unit both before and after the move, to make sure everything had been moved and put in the right space. When a dresser didn't fit where we thought it would, they solved the problem through suggesting a clever rearranging of our furniture. There service was so great, I will use Commander Moving for every Bay Area move I ever do. read more

Commander sent a crew of 3 for my in-city 3BR move. In SF, so lots of stairs. They were fast, efficient and no-nonsense. They were also highly accountable -- they brought some minor damage to my attention, and proactively took responsibility for getting it fixed. Great company, easy to work with, reasonable rates. My thanks to Adam, Amos and Manuel for their professionalism and hustle, and to Ruth for coordinating the repair. read more

BEWARE!!! THEIR EMPLOYEE ROBBED US, WAS ARRESTED, THEY SAID THEY WOULD REFUND US AND HAVE GHOSTED US FOR A YEAR. AVOID AT ALL COST! Last summer my husband and I hired Commander Moving to move us into our new home in Berkeley. We did a full package that included the home being packed up entirely. This was very expensive but we felt it was worth it. On the day of the move we had a house full of movers busy at work. I brought along some personal items that I wanted to move over myself that included a box of jewelry. All seemed to go smoothly and my husband helped the movers move stuff in, bought them beer and snacks and we gave them a generous tip. That evening I was looking for my wallet and could not find it. I wondered if I had dropped it in the craziness of the move. After checking my credit card account I noticed it had been used at a gas station and quickly canceled the card. At this point I did wonder if the movers had stolen my wallet but they "seemed" nice and I thought I must have dropped it outside somewhere. The following day as I was putting things away I noticed my jewelry box was tampered with. I looked through it and noticed that I was missing pieces of jewelry including my engagement ring! At this point I was confident it had been stolen by the movers. We called Commander Moving and we filed a police report. We were terrified that these people had been through every single room in our house and new all of the entrances to our home. Great way to start a new chapter in our new home! Commander started off very apologetic and let's us know that if it is one of their guys that they will refund us. The Berkeley police were excellent in tracking down the employee through the gas station transaction ( he also stole my wallet) getting his license plate details and confirming that the Commander employee was the thief. They also let me know he had a LONG criminal history of petty theft! We are enraged that this company hired this person and let them into our home. The employee was arrested, confesses to it all and I presume is fired. Commanders insurance company paid for the stolen jewelry about 6-8 months after the robbery. Commander promised they would refund us for the move and that has yet to happen. We are disappointed with the whole experience from top to bottom. The move cost us somewhere around 5k! My advice is DO NOT USE THEM. They don't even have the decency to refund us after having said they would! I have had multiple friends recently move in and out of the Bay Area and after hearing my story have avoided them like the plague. You have been warned. read more

Used Commander moving for our recent move instead of the old fashion way of renting a Uhaul and doing it ourselves. I have to say that the experience was great. Carlos, Irving, and Alex were our movers that did a great job of wrapping the fragile things and loading them onto the truck. When we got the new location they unloaded everything with no damage to the furniture and walls. The move did take a little bit longer than I expected but it was worth it because we didn't want to do it ourselves. read more

Thank you so much. Needed to book a quick move in just a few days notice. Called commander and they had me booked with ing a few days. Showed up prompt. I'm very happy with Commander Moving. It was challenging to find a local company to take on the job of moving a heavy piece of equipment, but Commander did not hesitate. Rory and Sammy got the job done. They were on time, quick and professional. Thanks for a job well done! read more

Had an amazing experience with Commander Moving! We were selling our house before purchasing a new one so needed to find a mover that could also store our items and Commander was the perfect fit. They brought in a professional team that quickly loaded up all our items, including many heavy boxes of books and records. And oh yes a piano as well. We finally found a new home and had another great team move our stored items into the new place. They even assembled our bed and the modular sofa. Great communication throughout the process. Hopefully won't be moving again anytime soon but would definitely work with them again. read more

The team at Commander Moving Inc. were able to meet our needs in a pinch just one day before our scheduled move. Andy in the office performed a great job in coordinating the move logistics and the team of Adam, LiL Eric and Issac performed an awesome job in orchestrating things on move day. They were punctual, courteous and professional in providing the moving services. All are highly recommended! Thanks again Guy! We look forward to using you for the next move! I have moved a few times with Commander Moving and they are always amazing. Commander Moving came in a pinch and helped my family and I pack up two rooms that we simply did not have the time or energy to get to. We were desperate and behind schedule with our move and luckily, Commander had availability when everyone else turned us down. Adam and Manny packed our rooms up with great care and attention to detail. They moved fast and efficiently through the rooms and marked each box to indicate what room and general description of the contents. They were kind, professional and made me feel at ease. I highly recommend Commander for your next move and hopefully you'll be lucky enough to get Adam and Manny. My only regret is that I didn't call sooner and have them do my entire house! Next move for sure! read more

I honestly couldn't be happier with my experience. The guys were professional upbeat and very efficient. I didn't need to supervise and they handled all my belongings with the upmost of care. They were pleasant and respectful. Wore masks at all times. The 3 guys that came to my rescue were Ira, Eferin and Rudolfo. Also Barry in the office was incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable. Wouldn't hesitate to call them again. Pricing is also very competitive. Anita SF resident. read more

We recently moved from an apartment in Lamorinda to a home, and used commander moving. They were amazing to help us out and were considerate for a reschedule later in the week. For the actual move, Adam, Manny, and Hirbin were fantastic. They disassembled and reassembled all the furniture and carefully packed up the TV. They transported all items safely, and were very quick about it despite needing to carry quite a bit of heavy boxes and furniture. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Commander Moving for our next move, especially Adam and his crew. read more

Very good moving company. We were dreading the day - too little time to pack, too much stress with the kids and work responsibilities. We moved from Berkeley to Moraga and were totally not ready on move day. Commander Moving came in and made it all look easy. They boxed up the rooms that we didn't get to, labeled everything and told us to go to our new house and meet them there. We were so stressed but relaxed a bit when these professionals took over and then wondered why we packed any of the house instead of getting them to do it all. Shout out to Mike and his crew for being fast, efficient and so very respectful and kind! The move was a little under the estimate which surprised me, I'm always expecting to pay more. Really good experience with this company and would recommend to anyone looking for the least stressful moving day because these guys know what they're doing. read more

I can't recommend Efran (papa), Alex and Dara more highly. They were incredibly quick, efficient and careful with our belongings during our move. They went through great pains to make sure our walls and floors were untouched, even though they had to climb narrow and winding stairs. Very communicative and kind, they made sure the job was done and done well before leaving. We didn't have to lift a finger and still had most of the day to unpack and organize. The three of them are the best team - request them by name when you book! read more

We just had a massive move from the East Bay down to the Santa Cruz Area and can't say enough good things about this moving company. We moved from one very full 2400 sq. ft. Home to another and had to use two large trucks + 4 movers (Carlos, Gustavo, Eric, Andre J). Everyone was extremely polite and honest. Our move took literally 12 hours and they were a delight to work with the entire time. All of our items arrived to our new home pristine. They were transparent with all cost. Would absolutely use them again if ever needed! read more

Commander Moving was a god send! My move in date changed at the last minute and had to scramble to find new movers. This crew did not disappoint! They packed my stuff with lots of care yet we're very efficient. Moving with this team was a breeze would recommend them to anybody. Only hiccup was that the team showed up an hour late due to a miscommunication on the mover's end. They made it right on the spot by waving the gas fee. Definitely book them for your next job! read more

Ira and Isaac were awesome. Friendly, efficient, and total pros. Definitely recommend them both, as well as using Commander in general.

Our Commander team was Adam, Rigo, Alfredo, Manny, and Papa, and they did a great job. They treated our belongings with care and did a beautiful job packing and labeling, and on top of that, they were a pleasure to work with. So was Jerry, on the phone, who helped take a lot of the stress out of moving. Everyone paid attention to detail, answered all our questions, and gave us tips. I loved that they offered us the option of reusing boxes to avoid waste and save money! The estimates of time and cost were excellent, and they did exactly what they said they'd do. During the packing and moving, the crew were fast and efficient but always paid attention and made sure things were the way we wanted. They were also super helpful in packing and moving things that we were leaving behind for others - moving upstairs furniture downstairs, moving everything away from the walls so the place we were moving from could be painted, packing up delicate things. They even dealt cheerfully with the unexpected. This was the third time we've worked with professional movers and I'd happily recommend them. read more

This review is long overdue. I used Commander last year to move a 1 bedroom apartment from Emeryville to Oakland, about three miles away. The movers were friendly and (most of) my items were moved carefully with no damage, however there were three issues with my move: 1. They sent over three guys instead of the two I contracted for, saying that the time frame in which we needed to move was too short. This would have been fine if we had contracted this PRIOR instead of springing this extra guy and the charge on us. But whatever, I will pay the man for his services. 2. I was overcharged at the end by an hour, which is quite a lot considering we had three guys instead of two. When I alerted them, they promptly sent me a check in the amount I overpaid, but I wonder if it was intentional. Perhaps they should require the movers to use calculators in front of the clients to ensure a correct total. 3. OUR BIKE WAS STOLEN. They left our very expensive bike unattended, in violation of the move out policy they had to sign for my old building, and someone snatched it up. It took over a week of daily negotiations, but eventually they compensated us for the bike. Overall, we got our stuff moved without damage and we got a refund for both the over payment and the bike that was stolen, so all has been settled. I would have preferred to have not dealt with any of that, and will use a different service the next time I move. read more

So I used these guys a few months ago. I'm lazy. I forgot my Yelp password. I have never written a review. But these guys were so great I keep thinking about them. So in order to avoid insanity through guilt of not saying anything I got a new password and decided to suck it up and say something! Like, I almost want to move again (almost). I called these guys after reading great yelp reviews. The man who picked up (I think it was the owner) was totally on the ball and scheduled me in last minute. I was in bed when my movers showed up five minutes early because I was expecting them to be two hours late. When I opened the door 15 minutes later ("Hang on! Be right there!") with my hair everywhere and squinty sleep eyes, failing to pretend I'd been awake for hours, they weren't annoyed at all. Three guys come in, all very handsome (awesome perk!), and look around. Apparently they weren't told that A) I hadn't touched a thing and nothing was packed, B) that I had a teeny tiny elevator and narrow hallways, or C) that my huge couch and 200+ lb metal bookcase would most likely have to be lifted through the three story balcony of my new place. However, instead of getting confused or mad they looked at each other and I don't know if they had umpire/pitcher-like sign language or what but they immediately split off like lions on the hunt and individually took over a different area. They completely tackled it, carefully packing about 40 boxes. They wrapped everything and made sure to approach me if they saw anything with a scratch to let me know it was already there. They were incredibly funny, polite, and the dynamic between them deserves its own reality show. Better than a sitcom. They worked for over seven hours straight without a single break while I obnoxiously gossiped on the phone and found ways to stand on their bubble wrap. They didn't stop until they had packed everything. When the last box was loaded they asked if it was ok if on the way to my new place they could grab a quick bite to eat. Like, seriously? Are you guys used to being abused? Of course! So I went to CVS to get myself some beer (watching them wore me out!). By the time I got to my new place they were already there waiting. Even if they ate in the car I don't know how they made it so fast. One guy had to leave but they called in a replacement beforehand. For over an hour 4 people worked and they assured me I wouldn't get charged for the extra labor (they practically asked me if it was ok if an extra guy came to work for free for an hour). They brought all forty boxes up three flights of narrow stairs (elevator too small to fit more than one person and like, an umbrella, at the same time). Then came the couch and bookshelf. They didn't know they would have to lift them so did not bring supplies. At this point the sun had gone down. Instead of complaining they problem solved. They padded everything and climbed on the roof of the truck doing "barrel o' monkey" type maneuvers and lifted these huge awkward heavy objects through the balcony, never once disturbing the neighbors. They moved every box into the appropriate room and, though they had been doing heavy labor for ohhhh.... 14 hours nonstop while I laughed and took videos, they helped me decide which piece of furniture looked best where. Like, they stood at different angles and discussed it. At the end of it all they gave me a discount because I'm a starving student and thought it would take half the time it did (so did they) plus didn't charge me for all the boxes. They even offered to unpack my stuff though it was nearly midnight (I said no as I'm not a sadist)! These guys are reliable, respectful, professional, efficient and great company! I will recommend them to anybody. Oh- and they cleaned up any mess. So both my apartments were cleaner after they left than they were before they showed. PS I think their names were Barry, Johnny, Jessie, and Doug. read more

Email quote from the manager Julian admitting guilt of damage, "The crew that moved you Rory , Amos and Jesse have been chastised and warned that this is not acceptable and does not live up to commander moving's standards. I would truly appreciate the opportunity to come out and repair as much as is possible or at least to pick up the most precious pieces and bring them back for repair. " And in another email, "Hi Tessa, Thank you for the pictures. Quite often dents can be repaired with wood filler and other techniques. Let us know if and when you would like us to come out and attempt repairs or alternatively we can send you another $100 compensation bringing total compensation for damages, despite the insurance option chosen, to almost $400. Once again I am extremely sorry for any damages that occurred during your move." (See the screenshots of these in the pics section.) Julian never followed through on the extra $100 or repairs that I requested they pay for instead of me having to take a day off work to have them come fix the damage. When I asked for this Julian then blamed me, my son, and my cat for the damage and said that it's my fault I didn't want more insurance. I must be a busy mom who just didn't notice the damage prior - serious dick move. I'd like the repairs done and this be made right. I'm waiting for this to happen still. They damaged multiple items during the move and refused to cover the repair. Would not recommend.

Unfortunately, the honeymoon is over. Too many broken and damaged items, mostly irreplaceable. One broken item was found tossed in bushes! Packers took food/beverages w/o asking when packing kitchen, lied and confrontational when asked about them. We would have said yes if you had asked! Even if insurance covers items, it DOES NOT cover your time and energy trying to get heirloom and priceless vintage pieces repaired or replaced. Seriously, based on the 5 star Yelp reviews alone I have no idea why you would go with anyone else. Lynette was super-responsive and clear with expectations and minimums. I had a fairly small move into a 2 bedroom apartment from El Sob to Oakland, and these guys were done in 2 hours flat. Rocky and Kris hauled some serious a$$! Really good guys, fun to talk to (they somehow made moving FUN!?!), and professional. I recommended them to a friend and they booked them the next week. This company is serious about no hidden fees - they are totally up-front about everything. Highly recommend. Don't forget to tip these guys - they more than earn it. I have waited over two years to write this review, because after my landlord negligently set off the fire sprinklers in my apartment, I had suspected that he just hired some randos off the street to move my things, and didn't actually hire Commander Moving like he told me. But the contract is in my case file. Ok. If someone asked me to pack up someone else's belongings and put them in storage while they were wet, I would say no. And I'm not even trying to run a business upon which rests my reputation for handling people's things with care, or at least a tiny bit of common sense. I don't know what they teach in professional movers school, but these guys apparently didn't know that plastic wrap doesn't belong on wet furniture. A lot of my stuff is solid wood, including an armoire over a century old--covered in mold. Totally unnecessary. Every box I opened had had something wet put in it, and was growing mold. Every last one. I don't know if they really didn't know better or just didn't care. But that's not all: A cast iron pan on top of my iPad that they didn't even bother to close the cover on. A 3'x2'x2' box filled with nothing but books. Silk fabric on top of a flower pot filled with soil. Hats with designer labels crushed at the bottom of a box. I guess nobody told them that packing paper is most effective when you crumple it around delicate items; not so much if you just fold a quarter-inch-thick stack around them. But the upside of that part is that to this day I still haven't had to buy packing paper for my own shipping business. Oh and the cherry on top--in my bathroom, which didn't get wet, and didn't need to have anything moved out of it at all, I had a couple unlabeled jars filled with homemade bath products: some sugar wax (like for hair removal) and a salt scrub. Those were missing. I bet they got an unpleasant surprise when they tried to inhale the vapors. Haha. read more

We recently moved from San Francisco to Dublin and landed on Commander moving to facilitate the move. Things went well and we ended up paying much less than we were quoted for which was nice. One minor issue we had was that our TV cable was somehow lost in the move and when we called to see if they had it, we never revived a call back. The cable is cheap to be replaced but it would have been nice for them to return the call. The movers were also a little rough with our items, but thankfully nothing was damaged. My biggest issue and reason for the 3 stars was that one of the movers, Peter, used our restroom in our new apartment. Usually, this is no big deal, however he peed all over the seat and floor and left without cleaning it up or even flushing the toilet. Who does that? It was really upsetting having to clean up someone else's pee and was especially upsetting since that happened in our brand new place. All in all, the move was quick and cheap but we just wish the service was a little better. read more

First time using Commander and was very impressed. Making a reservation was easy. Mike, Libor and Sammy came out to my house to load a PODS unit. They showed up on time, did a quick walk-thru to show them what I'm taking and what items are fragile and a few large things I needed help packing. With in minutes they were already loading the PODS unit and wrapping all my furniture in blankets and plastic. They were very careful with all the large furniture,(which barley fit through the doors, the fragile items and the house it self). The girl on the phone said my house should be 3-4 hours to load. They were done, cleaned and back on the road within 2.5 hours! (and it was 88* at 9:00am). Holy shit these guys were good. I wish Commander Moving was in New York too, I would defiantly hire them again. Price was exactly what the quoted on the phone when I made my reservation. Hourly rate x # of hours (3 hour min) = total. no hidden fees or items/services they forgot to include in the quote. They packed a fully furnished 2 bedroom house into 2/3 of a PODS unit like an expert game of Tetris. Skills. I just wish PODS would offer the medium size unit for cross-country moves, and not just the large or small one. (really PODS? talk about hidden fees and up-charging you.) Defiantly recommending this company and team of movers to everyone. read more

I've used Commander Moving twice now, and can't speak highly enough about them. Most recently, their excellent crew (led by Amos, but including Lee, Peter, Manny, Primo, and Rigo) orchestrated a complicated move that ultimately required a window removal to get the biggest pieces out of the house. Hats off also to office staff (Raquel) and owner (Karel) who were very hands-on in light of that complication. Plus, they're cost-effective. Use them -- you won't regret it. read more
