Great local comic book store/gaming store. I'm not really into buying comic books, but they have a large selection. They also sell board games, wargames, and card games. They also have large tables to play magic, Warhammer or whatever. They have a lot of terrain that you can borrow as well. Their prices are the best you can find locally and they have all the necessities. They do ha e nights scheduled for different games, but I haven't been to one yet. All in all comic kingdom is the best/only local gaming store. read more

One of the few standing comic shops around gives comic enthusiasts and other struggling comic shops a bad name. While they have a growing selection of great comics, you better forget about getting anything new here as they rarely get enough stock and, any stock they do have, is held for their priority regular customers. This doesn't feel like a shop as much as it does an exclusive club for friends and family of the workers and anyone else is out of luck. Beyond that, the service is less than exceptional and anytime I go in and ask for a specific comic the man/woman behind the counter always makes it seem like it's a giant hassle to be bothered with my puny question. This is a great shop for all things miniatures, comic books, POP vinyl, board games, and DnD stuff. My buddy Corbin goes here all the time for Star Wars Armada tournaments. I usually come here to check out the latest board games and pop figs. read more

I've been going to this store for 5 years. This is currently the only comic book store to pick up current comic books in the sparks/reno area. It has had many cosmetic changes, layouts and employees. The staff they currently have is awesome in most cases. There is a younger staff member who normally works nights that i do not like at all. He always seems irritated from pulling him away from his buddies while he plays card games just to ring you up at the cash register. If you have a "pull list" from the store and want to update it. Do not request to make changes with him because he will not do it. But other than that, everyone else in the store is very friendly and helpful. The owner Cody is a great guy and I always love having a small chat with him. This is a place where the staff knows your name (aside from the previous mentioned employee), they even bring me my books from my "pull list" personally while i browse the shop. They have some nice size gaming tables that are free to use. They also have many events so if you are into ANY table top gaming check with the staff to see when people play your game or just show up with your game more than likely someone will want to play, especially on the weekends.. Absolutely love this place! Come every Tuesday night to play Dungeons and Dragons with a bunch of other awesome people! They have great prices and a plethora of selection when it comes to comics, game books, and other nerd and geek culture items! NOTE: Manager is new and awesome ;) I'm from Oakland, CA. I was on a roadtrip and searched Yelp for this shop. Reviews were iffy, but I'm so glad I went in. I don't know if I'll ever be there again as I live far far away, but new owner Cody is fun and knowledgeable, treating us like valued customers :D I went in and was looking for kickass wedding gifts, as I don't believe in giving people towels when you can give them X-Men and Deadpool!! Anyway, they had lots of sections: cool new stuff, cool stuff, cheap as hell 25 cent stuff, $1 stuff, combo packs with collections, and a great large set of back issues (drool!). I totally didn't realize it at first, but the shopkeeper let us stay late to stock up. I'm a makeup fx artist and found the F/X and F/X2 posters....hahaha! Makeup and special fx man Bryan Brown saves the day!! I got them cheap for $6 each. They have an amusing collection of awesome and odd posters all 50% off the marked price. Prices on the posters are cheap to pricey, but take a look cause it gives you flashbacks seeing the old school stuff. I also bought some bigass set of Magic Cards...now this is a big deal to me as I do not know what they are and they are expensive in a whole box!... Well the bride and groom screamed when they saw all the glorious comic shop gold they received, so that paid off nicely. If I'm ever in Reno again, I shall return!! Excelsior! read more

The younger gentleman that works there is very knowledgeable about comics and in general geekness. If they don't have something in stock they can always get it for you if you ask. While they are the only comic place in town that has survived, I'm very happy to support them. They do charge for bag and boards, but if helps keep them in town it's worth the $0.10. read more

Ever have one of those moments where you walk into a place and get the overwhelming sensation that you just belong? Thats what this place does to me! I went in with a friend and was a bit nervous because most places that are specialty stores have the stigma that the employees will be rude or pompous but thats the furthest from this place! I walked into a store filled to the brim with not only a kind and knowledgeable staff but also some of the coolest/nerdiest finds around! Comics,collectibles and art everywhere! Im a huge Batman nerd so i was pleased to find my favorite Batman comic book,The Long Halloween in hardback plus action figures (theyre not dolls) from the Batman Arkham Asylum game ! The people behind the counter largely ignored me when I went in to look at MTG cards with my wife. They sat at the register and chatted with what seemed to be one of their friends and then seemed to get offended when we asked for something specific. On top of that there was a girl who was very loudly and proudly talking about the ways she would "abort" a pregnancy if she every got pregnant which went on for 15 minute or so with no intervention from the manager. I love DJ's. You can't get hung up on the "attitudes" any places like record store and comic book shops. The people that run these places are fans of the products they sell but not everybody loves the same comics. If you come in looking for Pokemon cards, or magic the gathering or something, and who's behind the counter isn't a fan of those things, he's not going to know a whole lot about them. I love DJ's. Comics and pinball machines - what more could you possibly ask for? The clerk will be happy to give you change for the pinball machines.

They have an absolute ton of stuff in here and a very wide range of comics, however I was surprised and disappointed to find no Simpsons issues, or anything from Bongo Comics at all. They make up for it by having a lot of board games and CCGs for sale. There were a few retro arcade machines down the back and the staff were helpful. I ended up buying a Peanuts Comic and another I can't remember. read more

Review is based mainly on Magic the Gathering community there. I have been to card shops all over the country and miss this one the most. Tuesday night drafts were my favorite, great crowd of regulars who are the most welcoming out of any shop I have been to. It is very frequent that someone new, or someone who does not know anyone there, sit at the table for only a few minutes before getting into a game with a friendly stranger. Also, can NOT beat the fact that in between rounds you can play pinball in the back, or check out some comics or board games, or watch other games. Owners are great and they care. They did not have any Pokémon cards. The person at the counter wasn't very helpful. When we asked if he knew where a place was that sold them, he just gave a quick "no". I only give one star because of the snobby attitude my sons and I received. We chose this place over the others because of the high reviews. I was disappointed. I would suggest treating everyone with courtesy. It would have been helpful if they had given us some help finding a place that sold pokemon cards. We are from out of town and dont know where anything is. We ended up finding what we wanted at Walmart. Next year when my kids are into Magic cards or Yu Gi Oh cards I will remember not to come back to your store. read more

Whenever my boyfriend and I are in town, We stopped by here to check out some comics he might have not found back home. They place is quiet, A LITTLE too quiet. A lot of places see you wander around a couple of times will ask you if you need help finding something. This store will let you be and when your ready to pay. They just ask "Is that all for you"? The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a comic book store. They never stock enough issues of new popular books. They put you on a list for when they get more in stock but never call. The place reeks of sweat. Obviously the staff is never happy to deal with customers. Anytime I have been there they will talk to their friends while you stand there in front of the register blatantly ignoring you. If you say "excuse me" even in a polite manner you get a loud sigh and a disgusted "YEAH?" in response. God forbid want to spend your money and keep them employed. Bottom line if you haven't been going there for years they do not care. Of course since they are the only shop in town they feel they can get away with it. The service is so poor I will actually be going to Carson for needs in the future (worth the drive). Or at least until another shop opens up and runs them out of business. read more

This is a nice little comic store, which has pretty much every kind of comic you could want. I'm a Marvel guy (X-men, Avengers) and they had what I need (always do really). The owner seems like a nice guy, and seems to really care about the business. The only down side was that they have a minimum purchase for credit cards so I had to grab an extra book that I didn't really want. I get that the fees add up, but as someone who doesn't carry cash, that bugs me. Dinged 'em a star for that, but otherwise, its good to go. read more

Worst comic store ever. After numerous Comic Kingdom failures to procure comics that I had ordered, I came to the conclusion that almost anywhere else would be a better place to actually buy your comics from. Comics are easy to miss out on limited edition variants and hyped books that can go out of print. It's even easier when the store you order them from repeatedly fails to procure the comics in the series you want, and have actually ordered through them. You will find yourself going online to pay extra shipping costs for things you already ordered. That's just for regular comics. For ones that go big, this store regularly 'loses' your order. So even if you do your research and find the best comics that are coming out, Comic Kingdom will mysteriously eat your order. The employees and owners are all weird and awkward. They won't even discuss comics with you. They probably don't read much. Why do they own and work at a store like this? Reno deserves better. read more

Best comic store EVER! I have recently moved to California a few months ago and the thing I miss the most about Reno is the comic book store. All the comic stores in Cali offer the same products but the layout of Comic Kingdom is just way better to understand and Cody is really good about making honest recommendations and helping you find something you will like. It is also a good spot for anybody who wants to learn to play card games, board games or just get introduced into comics. It's like the CHEERS of the comic stores....Miss this place fosho. read more

Pretty good shop with a good selection of current comics and some cool limited edition art. A ton of classic floppies for a Reno shop, every comic store flops here so hopefully support will continue and these guys can expand. No trade paperbacks at all which was a bit of a downer but very helpful in redirecting to what I needed. A solid shop but needs to develop. read more

Great selection, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!! I wanted to like this store, but I've been there twice now and it sucks! The selection is great and varied. The staff, whoever they are, it seems that, if you are a frequent customer or really into RPG's, they'll help you. If not, then they either sit on their lazy asses or ignore you. I went there yesterday and selected a few comics to purchase. When I walked up to the counter to pay, there were three people waiting to pay. The counter staff person was off chatting up what I guess was a frequent customer. Instead of getting up and helping out , the other staff member with his lazy ass planted in a chair obsessing over his RPG yelled at the counter guy to help the other customers. I guess this store must have some wealthy and loyal customers because they don't care about getting new ones. I'll go over to Carson City and check their stores out. If that doesn't pan out, then I'll go over the hill to Sacramento before I ever step foot in this lame ass store again!!! read more

My sister is a comic book junkie and wanted to check out the local comic stores in town. Since this is the only store that was reviewed on yelp, we decided to check it out. We couldn't be more pleased (or should I say, she couldn't be more pleased...I'll explain). She was able to obtain about a dozen comics that she has been wanting. She asked if they would give her a discount since she was buying so many and they did!!! They even had a my little pony action figure for $7 that my 4 year old daughter fell in love with. And oh my gosh, there was a childs book in there called, "Grandpa won't wake up!" I didn't know whether to laugh or think it was very morbid. I guess writing a book about death may help explain it to kids? LOL! Anyways, it's a pretty cool and organized comic book store. The prices are reasonable. Now, to explain my earlier comment...they sell "Magic the Gathering" trading cards. I used to collect these cards when I was a kid. I had about 500 cards in the Alpha and Beta versions. Upon looking at the cards in the showroom, I realized I had a lot of the higher priced cards. I looked online and realized I had a few cards selling online for over $1k a piece. Well, I went home, tore apart the storage room and learned my husband thought they were junk and threw them away. So, by going to this store, I learned my dear husband threw away a lot of money! read more

If not for the wide assortment of comics and hobby goods this store would receive much needed ire from this reviewer. They appear to be somewhat understaffed and the employees that do work there appear to have very little interest in providing even the merest iota of effort in their care of the customer. At best you. May be quickly catered to your respective needs within the store before the cashier will resume their oh so pressing activity of looking at their phone or speaking amongst their co workers and at worst you may either be ignored or outright scoffed at. It is a very unwelcoming atmosphere to say the least. Once again I must state that this store has quite a large stock of vintage magic cards, comics, figures and miniatures. But, if one so needed to acquire gaming accessories I would point you towards my much beloved "Games Galore" at the meadowod mall. As for the comics and the figures, you could always do worse but certainly make your trip brisk, if you decide to make it at all. read more
