Three for now - I know they're new. I will review again. This was for take-out. 1) The sauce on my mess (Cousin's mess) wasn't nearly as good as the one in Newton. Same flavor profile, but not as rich. Maybe it needs to reduce a little more? 2) My shrimp were cooked well, AND they take the damn tails off. YAY! Carla's Pelano Mess (Extra Eggplant) didn't really have much eggplant in it, though it tasted good. She had the same comment about the sauce. 3) The garlic bread was good, though not baked off, and I didn't know it was going to come that way. I've been to the location in Chestnut Hill several times, but this was my first stop at the Natick store. I ordered a meatball/sausage sub and a chicken parm. The meatball/sausage was very good, with plenty of meat. I thought the chicken parm was a little dry. (Note I did not eat 2 subs in one sitting, the chicken was my husband's and he agreed it was a bit dry). Overall, they were pretty good and this place has GREAT prices. I haven't ordered the famous $5 cheese pizza from here, but the one in CH Is good so I am sure I will eventually give it a try. Just a note, that this pizza isn't my favorite, but it's awesome for $5. However, once you start adding any toppings it quickly adds up and rivals prices of anywhere else. I like that there is an option to order online on their website if you don't want to sit for 15 minutes waiting for take out. Nice for a lunchtime sandwich as well. I've been a regular at Comella's for quite some time. I usually get their pizza, which is absolutely delicious. This week I left my groove and ordered a steak bomb. With many steak bombs from other establishments under my belt, I can truly say this was the best steak bomb I have ever eaten. It came on a fresh artisan whole grain sub roll. Crusty on the outside, and just chewy enough on the inside. No cotton white bread this. The sandwich was chock full of very tender and moist shaved steak grilled just the way I like it, sautéed peppers, mushrooms snd provolone cheese. There are lots of steak bombs out there. I live in Texas where I can't seem to find a decent slice of just plain old cheese pizza, so I try and get my pizza fill while visiting places that know how to make one. I have been going to Comella's in Natick for the past five years and, for the most part, have has good food and good service. However, my experience there last night will prevent me from coming back there again. I ordered a cheese pizza and, when they showed it to me, it was literally "black"...as in overcooked. When I told the girl that I wasn't going to take that one, she said let me make you another one. I said okay but, to my dismay and disgust, the girl returned from the back moments later and said, "There was another pizza out in the back." When she showed it to me, it was the same exact pizza I had rejected before, all black and overcooked. What nerve to think I was a friggin' idiot that I wasn't going to recognize that it was the same pizza and, what pizza place just "happens" to have another pizza just sitting around... So, the girl offered to make me another pizza for the second time, and I said okay. However, when this one came out, it was so undercooked, it was literally white and looked like a kid made it in Play-Doh. I told the girl I wasn't going to accept this one either, and then she had the nerve to tell me that I need to specify how I want the pizza cooked. I told her I had been coming here for five years and had never told them how to cook the pizza...they just did. Overall, the sour taste this experience had on me would prevent me from returning here. While, the deals may be decent, the overall quality of the food is mediocre at best... read more

Pizza is always pretty standard, and the price for a cheese is fantastic. They always get really busy on the weekends and some week nights. My wait for one cheese pizza take out was 1 hour. OK, my kids & husband love their cheese pizza. And I cannot argue that a large cheese pizza for $5 isn't a steal. However, I wasn't impressed with the sauce on the pizza, I thought it needed more...something. Like oregano? Basil? But again, the price is so attractive that I can't knock it. About 8 slices per pizza. I also don't like when my slice droops at the end when holding it, having to use 2 hands to eat. Almost as if the middle hasn't quite been cooked enough. Thin crust, not crispy. Not alot of cheese, which my kids like. Maybe I will ask them to run it through the oven 2x. There was another family there truly loving their 'mess' meal. The boneless wings are very good. Both the buffalo and the bbq have good flavor and portion size. Tried the boned wings once and they were also good but the portion was much smaller - you get so much more chicken for the same price with the boneless. Sandwiches here are also very good. The braided roll is a favorite. Wish they kept the roast beef on the menu though. Wow I was shopping at a store close by Comella's and hoping to get something tasty like a BLT somewhere nearby. Low and behold the store clerk suggested Comella's and they actually had a BLT on the menu, wahoo! Even though they are primary an Italian place They made a great BLT, The bacon wasn't thick but their yummy artisan bread made up for it. A little mini cannoli with chocolate chips topped off my lunch perfectly. Friendly service, great prices and served quick. The location is tiny and clean. read more

If you're in the mood for Italian or pizza, Comella's in Natick will satisfy you! Apps, entrees, subs/wraps, pizza/calzones, salads and desserts. It's a great place to order a takeout meal online, but they also offer a bunch of tables if you'd like to eat there. Their menu is pretty extensive, but my favorites include their Cobb Salad, the Ma's Mess (vegetarian) and the Wild Willy's Calzone (steak & cheese). So, I get that this is Massachusetts and there is really no good pizza if you are a born New Yorker like me. Sorry. So forgive me, I'm a snob. And a service snob. Let's start there. It's like their customers are the enemy. Counter girls they hire have a big attitude. Their environment must make it tough, as they're all like that...who knows? It's not nice and they make you feel like you're an idiot when you don't understand what a 'mess' is. Why would you call your food that? If it tasted good, it would be cute. But it actually *is* a flavor mess. The pizza is mediocre on a good day. I feel a sense of loss that my son likes it -poor kid-but is the only reason I go back there. He really doesn't know how good it can be. Crust is gross, sauce lacks flavor, and better pepperoni can be bought in a bag at the 7-11 down the street. Broccoli came from a frozen block. Bleh. Why bother? The other food tastes like a line cook makes it, and has no idea how to meld flavors. Wondering if he has ever tasted his own dog food. Really. And by the way, real Italian cooking uses garlic. Lots of garlic. Nowhere to be found. When I asked for garlic powder to choke my pizza down, I think there was an expedition in the kitchen to find it. They also looked offended when I asked for parmesan. Just weird. Go to Papa Gino's. Do not order half a topping on each side of your pizza because they will charge you full price and then laugh at you when you ask if you are paying full price for half the amount of toppings, which they did say was the case, through their laughter. I'll be going around the corner to Corrados or to Bills for my pizza from now on, regardless of the initial cost I still didn't save any by getting it at Comella's. It's sad cause I have been coming here for years and really liked the place, but this will be my last time for quite a while. If they can't put meatballs on a sub roll in less than a half hour there should a job fair and get new employees it's absolutely disgusting. I've been going to the Comella's chain for years- always in West Newton. When I moved to Natick I was happy to see there was a Comella's nearby since the food is so delicious and offers great takeout for family events. Unfortunately this location has been disappointing. The food takes forever- so long that I often come 15 minutes after they expect the order to be ready and am still waiting when I get there. The line takes an extremely long time as well. Often times people will come to get their order, it isn't ready, the person says they'll "check on it", come back and it still isn't ready. Why not just say it's not ready and move on to the next customer while someone else looks into the issue? The flow at the register needs to be improved. Also on one occasion I ordered a pizza and then received a call saying there wasn't any pizza available that night. Not a huge deal I guess, but I found that to be very weird... Pros: the app makes it easy to place orders without having to call the business directly. They are usually stressed/it's noisy, so ordering over the app is much more efficient. read more

Shrimp Scampi was very greasy and lacked flavor. Grilled chicken parmigiana also lacked flavor. Use of tenderloins instead of breasts in the chicken parm was also disappointing. Hopefully others have better luck! Maybe we'll try the pizza next time. read more

But ran in to pick up a takeout order of 9 large pies for a sports team dinner and in the 3 minutes it took to run in and pick up the pizza - got a parking ticket right in front. It looked like the meter attendant was trolling up and down in front of the place. And the meter attendant was really rude. Yes, I know, should have fed the meter, just didn't think of it.... I've been to the Comella's in West Newton a bunch of times and its almost as if this is a compeltely different restaurant. The quality and standards are so much lower at this location its astonishing. This coul dbe because it's brand new and typically run by teenagers and college student age kids, but its not just acceptable to have the Comella's name on here if that is the case. I have eaten here 6 or 7 times since it has opened. Twice I called on sundays to order sandwhiches and they were out of bread. I ordered a chicken calzone with mozzeralla and basil and I got basil alright. I got the whole plant. Not basil leaves shredded or diced up, actual whole basil leaves with the stems still on. I had to pick them out like long worms. The crust was just pizza crust rolled into a tube with no cheese, oil, or seasoning on the outside. The worst calzone I have ever seen in my life. The grilled chicken parm sandwhich was dry as a bone both times we got it, had about a half of a slice of cheese on it, and about a tablespoon of sauce. The only thing I have gotten here that was remotely appetizing was a cheese pizza. It was solid and cheap. Either way, I'm done giving this location a chance. What a waste. read more

Incredibly disappointed I've been a regular customer over the past year. In the past week I have twice placed an online order an hour and a half ahead of time and yet here I sit still waiting on my chicken wrap... 20 minutes after arriving to pick it up. I was fed a lie at the counter about how the individual working the phone did not know how to enter an online order into the system. This I was able to quickly negate given my confirmation email I received for my order. I have removed the app from my phone and will no longer be wasting my time with this establishment.
