I give this place a solid 4 stars. The brisket is top notch, the ribs were very good. The smoked sausage is nothing special. That is a spot that can be improved. I hit some BBQ places solely because of their amazing smoked sausage. Cole slaw is good. I couldn't try the collard greens or green beans because of the onions. My husband and I are foodies and love trying new places. Found this restaurant right off of 95 and gave it a try. The food was okay-- I got ribs which were dry and he got a burger. When we came in their machines were down so they had to take orders and payments by hand- which was fine with us, only they put us on the spot and asked us how much we want to tip. We waited a solid 25 minutes for our food, only to find out they forgot about our order. Needless to say, the food and service were okay but not good enough for us to visit again. We tried a variety of their meats: Smoked sausage, Brisket, Pulled pork, BBQ chicken and Ribs. My fave was the brisket and my husband's was the pulled pork. He used the hot bbq sauce, while I enjoyed the sweet bbq. I'm not a sauce/ gravy person, but their sweet sauce was on point! The smoked sausage was good- tastes like a smoked kielbasa link. For sides, we tried the corn bread, garlic bread, potato salad, corn on the cob, french fries, baked beans, collard greens and mac n cheese. Top faves were the potato salad and baked beans- the beans include pulled pork! As for bread- you get 2 slices of garlic bread (in case you wanna make a sandwich), but if not definitely go for the cornbread. Negatives: the chicken was our least favorite- very dry, even the skin wasn't tasty. Welcomed by several friendly faces.. we had never been, the ladies were welcoming. They explained their procedures on how to order. I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket, sausage with French fries and bbq beans. My husband had the 3 meat combo. Pork, brisket, sausage and fries, potato salad. We also ordered a side of fried pickles. Everything was large portions. Neither of us finished our meals. Drinks were self serve, we love this idea. My husband is a very fast drinker. The meats were tender with a very good smoke flavor. The bbq beans were great, they had a strong molasses flavor. We really didn't have any complaints. Service was great! We were greeted after walking in and served quickly. Menu pricing was appropriate for the area, venue, and food items. The reason I can only give 3/5 stars is because the most important aspect of a good restaurant, food quality and taste, was lacking. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Max-n-Cheese. The Mac wasn't bad, but it didn't taste any different than basic Mac you'd have at home. The most disappointing was the quality of pulled pork on my sandwich and an order of nachos my mother ordered. The pulled pork was mostly fat and skin with very little taste. I smothered it in the original bbq sauce to give it some life. Felt like real food heading home to NC. Saw the Billboards for Daytona Pig Stand and got off the exit. Went right to To Go window and rang bell. Greeted by a friendly barmaid, ordered 2 Pulled pork sandwiches, fries, onion rings and teas. Also added sweet and hot sauces on the side. It came out quickly and enjoyed my wife and I. This place is AMAZING!! My wife and I stopped here while driving home from Georgia to Orlando. I am always looking for good BBQ and love trying new places. The person behind the counter (Jeremy) was fabulous. Very patient with me while my wife and I surveyed the menu. I told him that I was very fussy about my cole slaw and baked beans. He said "how bout a sample" WOW, really? Sure. I wasn't overly crazy about the cole slaw. I do prefer a creamier type but the baked beans were on point. He also let me try the potato salad which was also very good. To go we ordered: * Full Rack of ribs with baked beans & potato salad $15.99 * BBQ salad with chopped pork $8.99 We decided to take a break from driving and order a plate of 10 smokey wings to eat there $8.99 The wings were truly to die for. The sweet sauce is not overly sweet like some establishments and on the wings...OMG! Big, meaty wings at that. When they delivered my ribs, I just HAD to try one. Had St. Louis Ribs and Beef Ribs on 9/1/21 (to go). St. Louis ribs horrible - silver skin still on - tough and very little meat. Beef ribs burned and tough. Horrible. Corn on cob was the worst. Was surprised by how tasty the food was. Had my dog with me and the server brought a dog bowl of water out as soon as I sat down. Eating outside I was surprised at how many times the server came to check up on me AND the dog. Very friendly with a true love of animals. Big portions, good food, and man's best friend. First time ever eating at Col's BBQ. Stopped for lunch on my way to St Augustine. Good selection of all the standards and good selection of sides. I chose the pulled pork dinner with two sides, potato salad and fried okra. The pulled pork was tender, juicy and included some burnt ends. Ample portion also. The potato salad was ok, I'm used to a potato salad with some dill and onions. This potato salad just didn't have enough but I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. Which leaves the fried okra. This was by far the best fried okra I've had at a BBQ joint in years. Tasted fresh not frozen. The garlic toasted bread was a pleasant change from the Texas toast that most places serve. The choice of BBQ sauce was good, with the standards, hot, sweet, mustard, and original. I can't tell much about the individual taste as it is my habit to mix them all on the pork. Decent barbecue right off of 95. It's in an area that's pretty touristy and well lit, so that's a plus for stopping in the evening. I had chopped pork, fries, slaw and garlic bread with a side of fried okra and a sweet tea. The chopped pork was pretty standard..good but nothing super special, I would probably try the pulled pork next time. The sides were all good. My dining partner ordered the Fat Boy and absolutely raved about it. They had a good variety of desserts and they all looked delicious, though I didn't try any this time. We ate as a family restaurant had great staff our kids got kids meals of tenders, cheeseburger and bbq sandwich they all enjoyed it except with Mac and cheese as sides the cheeseburger wasn't as good. As adult entrees we ordered the Grizzly Combo as shown in photo it's HUGE we were extremely hungry and it was pretty delicious could of probably went smaller and possibly without the burger on there it wasn't as tasty as their signature BBQ. We've always been huge fans of BBQ while we're in the south so we had to stop on our way back to Ohio! And this place was no disappointment at all, absolutely delicious and homemade everything. The burnt end sandwich was the best pulled pork my Dad has ever had and he is a huge critic! And we tried a bunch of sides. The potato salad, mac and cheese, fried okra, coleslaw, and banana pudding were all exceptional! The only thing we didn't like were the collard greens. What a find if you like barbecue. We had baby back ribs lunch special. I had corn nuggets and garlic bread. The nuggets were delicious. This restaurant had a very big selection of meats, sides and even desserts. The ribs were so tender, they came right off the bone. - no fork or knife needed. I ordered the BBQ pork sand which, which had fair chunks of meat. No flavor in the meat itself but you have the choice of 4 different sauces. I choose the sweet BBQ and that perked the sandwich right up. My only complaint is the beans had only microscopic stands of meat in it, other places give nice crispy ends of meat in there which is better. Also abit too spicy for my taste, but the sandwich definitely was worth it. Would come again to try different sides and meats. read more

It's a proto-chain, created in response to Shane's Rib Shack. It shows that it was simply a business venture. Didn't see a lot of heart there. The staff is nice, the place screams "designed by a team to be as franchise-able as possible". The sign by the street emits smoke as its gimmick. They get a lot of business simply by being right next to one of the biggest Harley dealerships anywhere. How's the food? It's okay. The signature collard greens suck - they were severely undercooked, to the point that I described them as "stiff". The coleslaw is okay - not too sweet, nice big strips of cabbage, not too gloopy. The babyback ribs were reasonable, although a bit low on the meat quantity. Sauces were adequate, the pulled pig was uneven in texture but tasty, and the half chicken was mostly an excuse for sauce. Wouldn't go out of our way for it, but I've never found Daytona to be a haven for good eats, anyway. read more

Take this review of The Pig Stand and all BBQ joints with a grain of salt. Because when it comes to BBQ, taste is incredibly subjective. By that I mean, what I like - you may not like. What you love - I may think is terrible. So far, I think I make better BBQ in my backyard on my Weber Smokey Mtn Cooker, than most BBQ joints serve. So take the following cautiously. The Pig Stand gets 4 stars for the brisket. Which, upon my visit, was very, very good. Great bark. Tender as can be. Good smoke ring and good brisket taste. Although I always prefer more smoke flavor. The Mac n Cheese is also excellent. My four stars ends there. The ribs (they serve both Baby Back & St. Louis spares.) we're fall off the bone tender. To me, that's over-cooked. But a lotta people love ribs this way. Taste wise, the ribs were kind of bland. Not nearly enough smoke flavor. They have four signatures BBQ sauces on the tables (including a nice Carolina Mustard) but BBQ sauce should enhance the flavor of the meat, not dominate it. The cole slaw is ok. Probably not "home-made." Cornbread - okay. Again, probably from a purveyor. Would I go again? Absolutely! The brisket is that good. And brisket is the hardest of the BBQ meats to master. Plus --- my beautiful niece Erin works there. So tip big. While you're there, checkout their incredible semi-smoker. This is a over the road, 16 wheeler converted to a smoker. Huge! Impressive! I have purchased takeout from Colt's pig stand @ 1340 w. Saxon Blvd in Orange City, FL, numerous times since they opened. Their food was always good until last night, on June 1st, 2022. I purchased two meat plates for over $36, and when I got them home, they did not look right. The pork looked off, and the Beef brisket was waterlogged and primarily gristle. The sides (Brunswick stew and green beans were mainly water. Even the bread served with the meal was blackened on one side to the point of inedible charcoal. About an hour or so after eating this, we both started feeling severe gastral distress. We both suffered all night and into the morning and I still feel sick as I am writing this, like I have a case of food poisoning. On June 2nd, I called and spoke to the manager and explained the situation. He took my information and told me that he would keep it and call me back if they received other food poisoning complaints about their food that night. I was not looking for free stuff, nor was I offered any. I did not even get an apology or thanks for bringing this to our attention. After the phone call, I checked the health department's website. I saw that this place has had several violations in the past for not keeping food at safe temperatures and other safety issues. This might explain why a restaurant that has been opened for less than two years old was suddenly closed last week for several days for a supposed renovation. Maybe next time, they will be closed down for good. As for myself, I will never eat here again. However, if anyone reading this post does choose to eat here, I wish you the best of luck. I am not a BBQ fan at all (love the flavor, hate the high fat content), but my family stopped here on a road trip through Florida. For not liking BBQ, this place was great! I ordered a burger and sampled the majority of the menu via my other family members' dishes. Lots of good flavor and very friendly service. I did order the burger medium rare and it came out medium well to well done, but the flavor was awesome and since it is ground beef, I didn't mind the difference at all. My only real complaint about the food is that their sauce is REALLY drippy - both the BBQ sauce and the beans (much thinner than ketchup, more like soup). I prefer my BBQ sauce nice and thick, but they had four flavors (regular, hot, sweet, and mustard) and all were delicious. I can live with a sloppy burger if it tastes amazing.
