Stopped for dinner for the first time at the Norwalk location. As usual the place is very clean and love the dedication to local members of the military, police, and fire! My wife tried the salad pizza without cheese and she was impressed. There's no shortcut on the sald toppings! We also had a pie with half cheese and half olives (as requested by my 5 yr old!). We each had an ice cold draft beer while the little one was very excited to have a apple juice-juice box. Crayons and a place mat to color kept her entertained while the adults chatted. We ordered three 12" thin crust pies: mushroom, pepperoni, and plain. One person can crush a pie alone, but it's pretty tasteful and filling. There wasn't too much sauce that we couldn't appreciate the toppings and the dough was pretty standard. The third pie kept overnight and the leftover cold pizza was awesome. We ordered pizza from here and wow what a disappointment. The thin crust had the texture of cheap frozen grocery store pizza... It was like biting into cardboard. There was zero flavor in the pizza itself --- completely bland. This was the most disappointing and underwhelming pizza I've ever tasted and would not recommend it to anyone, we will not be going back here again. I ordered the gluten free crust 1/2 salad 1/2 onions and I am still thinking about how spectacular it was. My husband had the sausage and hot oil pizza and couldn't stop raving about it. This is a nice little spot. It's also much nicer inside than the Stamford location. The manager here made a great impression. I live at the Waypointe and ordered a pizza once, through a natural mix up, I got the wrong toppings. He immediately made it right, and brought the pizza over to me at the Waypointe. They deliver inside the building here, but typically I like to go walk down. Two pizzas I recommend 1) hot oil. 2) scrambled egg pizza for brunch (add bacon and hot oil, trust me) bartender recommended the second one and he wasn't wrong! Yup. We loved it. Next time I come back I'm going to have to the hot oil. I keep hearing good things. We had pepperoni. It certainly did not drip grease. If you are looking for sloppy fatty tasting pizza, this is not the place to be. The one size is kind of nice, I mean I feed a family now so this wouldnt always be ideal, but definitely an option. My bacon and onion (bartender suggested light onion to not overpower the bacon!) and my date ordered the meatball, mushroom and cherry pepper combo pizza. For me, the bacon and onion was the winner. Delicious and salty bacon with the sweetness of the onion! The meatballs were really flavorless but the combo was good. I love this new addition to Norwalk. The extra thin pizza crust is awesome. I had hot oil and mushrooms my first time and it def had a punch. I've also had meat ball and pepperoni. It's not the kind of pizza that I like with lots of toppings. The bar in awesome and has lot of options. Here's the thing: When this restaurant says "meatballs," they don't mean what you and I and everyone else in the known universe means. They mean, literally, "balls of meat." Globules of ground beef. I'm not being hyperbolic, here. This isn't, "the meatballs were bland." This is, I asked the waitress about it, and she replied, "Yes, we don't put breadcrumbs for anything in our meatballs." I asked, "So, basically, these are literally just balls of ground beef?" She replied, "That's right!" (Not for nothing, but there's something I don't understand: WHY LIE ABOUT THIS? Ground beef is a perfectly acceptable topping for pizza. In fact, it's my second favorite toppings for pizza. I love Colony pizza. It's definitely in my top three pizza places in the area. I've been to their locations in Milford, Stamford and Fairfield, and I haven't been disappointed since. They have a very simple menu, which is basically the ingredients that you want on your pizza. Definitely try a pie with hot oil on it at least once. OK, I used to go to Colony Pizza in Stamford when I worked there years ago, and their pizza was delicious! This Norwalk location, not so much. We got two take out pizza's, and both were burned and had no real taste. They were actually tough. One of the toppings on each pie was meatball, and there were these little tiny pieces of burned ground meat scattered sparsely. There were like five tiny pieces of it on the whole pie! The peppers on one of the pies weren't even cooked. It was just under $30 for two very small pizzas. This was not a good experience! read more
