A very cool, cozy, woodsy spot with friendly staff. My honey latte was fantastic! I cannot wait to go back and try their pastries.

I was hurriedly trying to take a meeting on the go after a kid drop off and saw their sign in front of the tiny alley. I'm so glad I did. This was the cutest tiny community hub full of character and love - with coffee too! The matcha latte was delicious. I had great service and a cool little nook to work in for a hot second.

I visited Collective Espresso (CE) at 8am on a Wednesday morning as I traveled through Cincinnati. I picked CE to stop at because it was well spoken of, I tried their coffee at another shop that serves their coffee and enjoyed it, and it's located outside of downtown and not too far off the expressway. If your traveling on 75 and want to stop for a great cup of coffee then CE is a good place to stop at. Google maps will show CE between two shops and if you're not paying close attention then you may drive right by it and think a Google maps sent you to the wrong location or the address is not updated. That's what I thought until I noticed an alleyway between two stores and above my head was a rustic sign that says CE. Just keep walking all the way to the back and you'll find CE. The shop has two wooden tables inside for seating. A bathroom is available accessible with a key provided by the barista. There is a courtyard outside that I imagine is beautiful when the leaves are on the tree and and coveted stop for reading and enjoying coffee outside in the warmer months. The bar set up is a three-group Synesso espresso machine, a pair of Mazzer Major espresso grinders, and a Mahlkönig EKK43. Their is also a Fetco coffee brewer. The menu that day was typical of third wave coffee shops. See my pics for a menu. The barista was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a drip brew and really enjoyed it. The quality was typical of other well known specialty coffee roasters in the US, like Onyx, Stumptown, or Madcap.

I'm also here for Cincinnati coffee shops! Stopped here on the way up to Columbus. It's almost easy to miss since it's not off the street. It's actually off an alley. Anyway, it's COVID so only one customer at a time can go in. No big deal. The space in there is small anyway. It's cute though! A huge window at the front for lots of natural light. A huge tree is at the front and picnic tables outside. I got a honey latte with oat milk. Whoa! That honey was amazing!! My sister got a cortado. Pretty good as well! I hope to be back!

Friendly baristas!

Any place serving North South Bakery pastries is a winner in my book. Couple that with yummy drinks, cute patio, and friendly staff - it's an excellent spot to grab a bev with a friend!

Delicious coffee and very pretty architecture and decor. I'm so obsessed with the skylights they have in the shop!

Small coffee shop (hidden) off Vandalia

Short of having an actual drive thru, Collective Espresso Northside seems like the perfect coffee shop to grab a fast drink before work. Yes, it's a bit daunting to find the first time (you either enter a nondescript entrance off of Hamilton or through the back gate off of Vandalia / Cluxton Alley) but the small, hidden feel of CE feels great. Inside, there are 4 bar seats and 2 tables with about 4 seats each. It's small, but that's the point. They have a signature Espresso Lemonade, which didn't end up being my kind of drink (not sure the tastes really go together) - but the ambiance was great for some early morning, secluded studying.

Good coffee and more importantly good people. Driving through Cinci and was brought here by a friend. The entrance is down an alley so I probably wouldn't have found it lol, but adds to the hideaway vibe. The shop itself is pretty small, maybe seats 6 or so but feels cramped quick. There is a space outside too, and while there was a consistent stream of people on a Friday afternoon, most didn't stay so it was fine. The smaller design lends itself to a more intimate arrangement between barista and customer. Our barista, Johannes is one of the chillest dudes. I haven't talked to a barista that much at a shop before and I'll say the relationship aspect takes the coffee shop experience to another level. I learned a bit more about espresso and the current beans they had on rotation. Cortado was smooth and chocolatey, but like I said- people make the difference.

Really nice inside, but hard to find. Their main entrance is not on Hamilton Ave (the street address) but there's an alley from Hamilton

Two Seven Two - Bakery items

Two Seven Two

Incredible! After a rainy but successful trip to the season's last Hyde Park farmer market, we…read moredecided to check out one of the bakeries on my "want to try" list: Two Seven Two, in Clifton. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing. The shop is quite small and bustling on a Sunday morning. The baked goods are displayed mouthwateringly behind glass, nicely labeled. I do not think it would be possible to leave with just one item -- so many delicious-looking sweet and savory options, and so well crafted. We choose a pecan sticky bun (the last one in the case - ha! Sorry, people behind us, you didn't get to experience that caramelly flavor with the salt flake zings!), a s'mores morning bun (the delicate chocolate filling didn't over power and the whipped creamy topping were perfect) an apricot shortbread cookie (literally melts in your mouth!), and a kimchi danish (not me - my daughter picked that one and loved it). They were all superb, worth having a conversation about! We also had drinks - iced vanilla latte and a seasonal apple cider with cold foam -- also very tasty. There were a couple of tables inside, a couple outside. It's a popular place so consider yourself lucky if you snag a spot. We took ours to go, walking past a line of folks waiting their turn to drool at the glass. We ordered inside, got our pastries boxed up, then went outside to wait for our drinks to be delivered by the barista through a handy sidewalk-facing window. Street parking available and a lot nearby but I'm not sure if it's a public lot. We parked on the street right out front.

As such, we stopped by on a Thursday morning to pick up a few pastries for our zoo visit. We went with the basics, croissant and pain au chocolate. Both items were fresh, buttery, and flakey. We inhaled them. There were a few other notable items that I would love to return and try: peach jam and fig leaf pastry cream bun and burnt honey Swiss with peach jam shortbread.

Hidden Gem!!! Literally…read more So, your GPS/Waze will get you there but your eyes and brain will be lost. This is because it is literally inside the HighGrain Brentwood BrewPub. Once you've found HighGrain, park in the parking lot and go inside. You walk in and La Terza is immediately on your left. When you walk in, you can go up to the counter and check out the menu. Just hit the little doorbell on the counter if nobody is there when you arrive. They'll show up quickly. You'll also likely notice the coffee's that they currently have "on tap", if you will. They put the bags out front so you know what you're ordering. You can choose from one of their straight up cups of coffee to espresso or latte's, iced or hot. During this visit I selected a small black coffee and an iced vanilla latte. The black coffee was a Costa Rica bean that was bold and robust with flavor. I really enjoyed this. The vanilla latte was not sweet at all. So, if you're looking for something a little sweeter, I'd ask for it to be sweetened or possibly go with the caramel latte, as that was a little sweeter. They do roast their beans on-site. I was going to take a walk over there but the door was closed once I got my coffee order. I did buy a bag of their whole Peru sourced beans that I'm very much looking forward to grinding up and French pressing to perfection. Combined with HighGrain, there is a lot of space to sit and enjoy your coffee. They have a small bakery cabinet to check out and order from as well. I can only assume that the coffee shop and brewery work together, so you may be able to order food from HighGrain and have your coffee too. Would I go back? 100%. I'm looking forward to trying the beans that I purchased. If they're as good as the coffee that I had in-store, La Terza will be on my list of local places to get my beans from.
