I went here for a mommy/son date with my 7 year old. While he enjoyed his ice cream, I'm not so enthusiastic about mine. I get what I always get at any Coldstone - the Founders Favorite. But first let me start out with the place itself. It wasn't dirty, but it wasn't the cleanest. The employees were impatient and not friendly, rushing all of the customers. My son was trying to decide what he wanted and felt rushed so he just chose something with chocolate. Like I said, he's 7 so he enjoyed it. My ice cream was not mixed well at all. All I of the toppings and mix-ins were on the top of the ice cream so midway through there was nothing. Just cream. Thank goodness I got it in a waffle cone so I just mixed some of that in. 5/4/24: We walked in and the place was packed. That was a good sign, I thought. As we waited in line for our turn, I noticed that EVERYONE behind the counter was touching cones and making ice cream cups and whatnot WITHOUT gloves. Not a single soul had a glove on. They also placed the tongs they were picking candies up with directly on top of the glass counter where customers were leaning instead of in the holding dish that it should've been in. I wasn't getting any ice cream at that point, but my fiancé still did because he's the greedy type. Nothing turns him off, clearly. Even the ice cream dripping down the cup onto the guy who made it's hands wasn't enough to turn his stomach. The guy didn't even wash his hands once. None of them did. They just kept touching counters, cones, making ice cream, answering handing it to customers. DISGUSTING!!!! The only reason I'm giving this place a 4/5 is bc this employee was working all on his own! They definitely should have had someone there helping him! My mom and sisters and I went for a sweet treat on the 4th of July expecting it to be a bit busy. Wasn't too bad but definitely needed more than one person there. Sinclair (I'm sorry if I spelled his name wrong!) was a GEM! He was getting things done diligently and making the waiting worth it! He made us laugh and was singing and just having a great time. It took about 300 years for us to order. we were standing there waiting for them to take our order and they took the orders of like 5 people that were behind me. We are all entitled to our own opinions, right? Well here's mine: Parking: 4 Location: 4 Decor/ambiance: 4 Customer Service: 3 Jeeeezzz Luisss... talk about packed on a Mother's Day Sunday! The line went out the door and down the isle (which is a good thing). The team of workers did a great job getting everyone in and out. The shop sits in a busy complex so parking can be a challenge during peak hours. The staff was nice but I don't think listened that well. I asked for my ice cream in a cone and i was given a cup instead... My friend with us was handed her ice cream by a gentlemen working where he literally gently tossed it across the counter where ice cream landed on her dress and the floor. Maybe the team was overwhelmed with the influx in business... I'm sure we will catch them another time and service will be better. The ice cream was great. The manager/owner (an Indian guy) is rude to his employees. A young, nice girl working there was trying to learn how to apply my rewards points. The manager was speaking rudely to her in a condescending and embarrasing manner. I will not support any business who mistreats their employees or customers. Won't be returning to this location and will encourage my friends and family not to as well. The AC unit is out on one of the hottest days this week !! It was definitely hotter in the store than outside. After I made my order and let the employee know what I wanted they started to make my ice cream . The employee then tells me oh I forgot due to the heat in heat we can not chop up the toppings on the cold stone. I totally didn't think of that. So the toppings were just placed on top. Once I was handed my ice cream it was literally dripping and melting so much due to the heat. I was disappointed . I think they should do their best to close it down until the AC unit is fixed. My family and I decided to get ice cream and choose this cold stone because cold stones have a great reputation. Upon entering the store my husband an I was shocked to see two out of the three staff not wearing a mask. That started my hesitation, but we really wanted ice cream so after a quick decision we was going to go a head an buy the ice cream... When we approached the freezer where the ice cream was located the ice cream appeared to be freezer burnt and some looked like it melted and was frozen again. One of the employees who was not wearing his mask proceed to help the customer in front of us and scooped some ice cream with no gloves... While talking loudly over the ice cream. I understand that state law says that mask is not mandatory however I feel that when you're serving food for the comfort of the customers that decide to buy you should wear a mask. Also... there is a woman, I think she's a manager who's always on the computer. She is so anal with ice cream & toppings that's she ends up SHORTING me what I paid for. Worst customer experience ever, will never go back here again. Ordered a birthday cake for my son that was supposed to be ready at 9:00 on Monday, went to pick it up on Tuesday at 1:30 and it wasn't ready. No one called to notify me they weren't going to have it ready for his birthday later that day. On top of that, they offered nothing to make it right or to provide another ready made cake so we would have something for the family celebration for my 7 year olds birthday later that day. 2020 was tough on restaurants and as the climate heats up, ice cream spots will be vital moving forward. However, Coldstone at Poyner Place may benefit from an adjustment such as using gloves when serving ice cream. Cleanliness is paramount to the customer experience. The Oreo Overload was delicious which included fudge. The love it size in a waffle cone probably needs more ice cream to live up to its size. Maybe it's just me, but the time between scooping the ice cream and adding toppings, the ice cream is melting. Maybe there can be some adjustments there. Nonetheless, with the exception of the gloves this location has a good tasting ice cream. Staff were welcoming and nice. I wish the owner the best. read more

This review is solely based upon the taste of the ice cream and the speed of service. After a great dinner night with my mom, she decided she wanted some ice cream. Mine you this place has been her obsession for the last couple of weeks. I stayed in the car but she went in and came out with the ice cream really quick. Which is always a plus when you are waiting for ice cream. I can't say anything about the customer service because I've not been inside of the store to interact with the workers. I've heard that it's not the best but I can't speak on that. So now on to the ice cream. It was so good! So that's why I give them this review. I got the sweet cream ice cream with Oreos! It was so creamy and I loved the taste of the Oreos mixed in. Here they can mix multiple flavors and toppings which is cool. So if you want cake batter and sweet cream ice cream tomorrow they can mix together that concoction. I think that's the great thing about cold stone. It seems like you can enter a world of endless ice cream possibilities. I was told with in seconds that they don't have Ice-cream and the child working was more interested in her cleaning than in service. I've never been treated worse in my life. I've written the store owner, and left a review on Google Maps even. The employees are truly awful and act like you're inconveniencing them. They had terrible attitudes and acted like they didn't want to serve us. I guess the best part was getting a $5 gift card when I spent $10 at the store for my trouble. Trust me when I say that the employees will want to make you fight them, it's hilarious and sad. If they don't want to work hard or serve you, why do they work at all? Color me unimpressed by my visit here this evening. I walked in around 6pm and was the 9th person in line with one person working behind the counter. I almost left but had really been wanting ice cream, so I decided to wait it out. After a few minutes, another employee wandered out from the back room. She then clocked in and started helping the guy who was already working the line. The line grew longer and was now up to 15 people by my count. So, imagine my surprise when the guy who had been working the line decided that it was time to clean the counters and work spaces. Slowly. Really? About this time another employee wandered out of the back and grabbed some containers and disappeared again. Again, really? Is it time to do that stuff when the line of customers is almost out of the door? Kudos to the young lady who was working hard and trying not to be annoyed by her slack coworkers. She was very pleasant and tried to be fast and efficient, but it was obvious that she was growing irritated. I didn't end up with what I wanted because they were out of so many toppings, but I did manage to buy some ice cream and leave. Given there are many choices for ice cream around the area, I doubt I'll be back anytime soon. read more

Cold Stone is not the kind of place you go when you're on a diet. It's not the kind of place you go on a budget either. You go there for one reason, and one reason only: You have a sweet tooth you can't control. In case you've never been to a cold stone, let me explain via stream of consciousness observations. It's an ice cream shop. You don't get hot dogs or burgers here, all you get are cold, sweet products. It doesn't take itself too seriously. Sizes for cups or cones are "like it, love it, gotta have it." When you leave a tip, the crew sings a song. You can get prearranged menu versions of ice cream and candy mixtures, or you can customize your own creation. My son always likes to get cotton candy ice cream with gummy bears. In case you don't know how it works, you walk in, (usually there's a healthy line), order the ice cream you want, and how much of it you want, at which point they scoop out a healthy serving (and by healthy, I mean generous, there's nothing healthy about this place), and roll it up onto a "cold stone" (get it?). It is here they mix in your goodies. A couple of peanut butter cups, some chocolate syrup, sprinkles, cookies, whatever, and mash it all together. It's really rather glorious. It may come as some surprise that I can take or leave ice cream. I like it alright, but I don't go out of my way for it. This place makes me like ice cream a little bit more. My favorite item there is not an ice cream dish, it's a milk shake. I love me a Cookies and Cream malt shake. Love it size. For those of you watching calories, you can get fruit smoothies sweetened with splenda instead of sugar. They're pretty good and most of them probably come in around 200 calories and little to no fat! This particular location features really nice outdoor seating by a fountain. Perfect area. As a former employee, working here was a complete nightmare of a job. We received no training, no help, and no sympathy from the manager Nicki, who instead of training us would answer a question with "Well, what do you think you should do?". We cleaned the several disgusting drainage holes with a wetvac that would spray the mix of bleach, garbage water, ice cream and most often, dead bugs, into the air. Even before masks it was hard to breath and I would often need to leave to catch my breath. The manager, Nicki, is rude, unprofessional and downright abusive to her staff. She would make us pay out of pocket for mistakes or an unsatisfactory desert we made, and wouldn't allow us to wear gloves for our own protection until the pandemic got serious. I used to have stress dreams about working here again, and I wouldn't recommend even my worst enemy to work here, let alone eat the ice cream. read more

I can't believe I haven't been here yet. Even though I rarely come out this way except to hit Triangle Town, and even though I know of this place's existence, I still haven't visited until now. Why? One look at the line reminds me of why I skipped it so far. The line was 22 people deep. But there's a good reason for that. This ice cream is freakin'-fan-tabulous. Watching your choices get mixed is pretty cool. I chose the mint chip with brownie. I got the small (ie: Like it!) but she scooped up too much and gave me an 'accidental' upgrade. I couldn't finish all of it because I had alreay eaten dinner an hour ago. This medium cup was almost an entree in of itself. Considering the weather was warm and enjoyable I and my guest opted to dine outside next to the water. The ducks and the nice weather were good toppings (pun intended) on an enjoyable dessert.
