We could not have been happier with our experience with Cold Craft. We had a full replacement done of our HVAC unit in our condo. Our person of contact throughout the process was Fernando who was friendly and quickly responded to any questions we had and kept us updated on the whole process. Our HVAC was the original one and decades old and definitely needed a replacement. The work was done both on our roof and in unit and all the techs were courteous and professional. After installing they unit and making sure it worked properly Fernando gave us a drywall reccomendation since CC does not do that kind of repair work. Once we had that fixed CC came back out to measure and install a new ceiling panel for the unit. We've been very pleased and the heat has been working great the last month or so. The total cost was not cheap but it was to be expected for a full replacement. I feel what we paid was comparable to other quotes we received and the customer service went a big way in making the whole process manageable. And we've already seen a big difference in our electric bill already! We plan on using CC for any of our future HVAC needs (although hopefully not too often haha) read more

My AC hasn't been working very well in the past several weeks, I rarely use it but now that the temperature is in the high 90's to 100's I've been turning it on. I contacted Cold Craft and spoke to Susan who said she, they're booked solid and would see if she could send someone out in a day or two. I shared with her I work from home; very little cool air was coming through the vents and it was 95 degrees that day. I purchased my home 15 years ago and use the same AC unit it came with. She contacted me a few hours later to let me know someone would be stopping by on his way home to check my AC. I anticipated being told I needed to replace the entire AC unit, however, after Kent checked the vents in my home and the AC unit outside, he informed me my air conditioning unit was "running like a champ" and turns out I needed to replace my air filters which cost less than $20.00. Our WisperKool unit was malfunctioning. ColdCraft came out and for $250 spent about 15min to determine we needed a new unit. The tech said it takes about 12hrs and we should be getting a quote. Three days later called and was told it takes 4-5 days for a quote(still have fine wines at room temp). One week later called again, was apologized to, and promised they would get back to me. Day later still nothing and ended up ordering unit on line. Apparently it is not that difficult to install but shall see. They could have saved me a week of waiting and just told me they wouldn't do it. Also, I get that there is a minimum charge to come out and take a diagnostic look but naturally assumed that a fix would be offered. I feel ColdCraft ripped us off and blew us off read more

Days ago my furnace became less powerful and not able to heat up my house as it used to be. So I send out quotes to multiple businesses to ask for help. Guess what, Susan was the only one that replied with informative suggestions, and after I check my furnace again, all the suggestions from Susan worked! Cold Craft ROCKS!!! Our home AC went out couple of weeks ago in this very warm weather. Two companies came out to look and said the unit was not repairable and it needed to be replaced. I am so glad I called Cold Craft - they came out looked at the unit and were able to fix it without much effort. We had a technician come out to fix our A/C unit who was incredibly rude and bullying. On multiple occasions, he told my partner and me to stop talking. He was contacted through our HOA but if ever we need A/C service, I am going to request to go elsewhere. I'm not sure how the other technicians are at Cold Craft, but the one that came to service our unit was very rude and snippy. No way to treat/talk to a customer. I had my cooling unit on my wine fridge go out. The cooling unit is the WhisperKool 2,500. My condenser was turning off and on- not running consistently. Cold Craft was an authorized dealer so I gave them a call to fix. Their hourly rate was over $250 but she told me they would most likely not have the parts and would need to come out again with another service charge plus parts. The process didn't make much sense because then I'm going to be approaching the cost of a brand new unit. There are just a few parts to the cooling units so not to have them during their first visit is not ideal. She convinced me to buy a new cooling unit and to get it installed. The unit itself cost around $1,450 new. I finally got the quote back and they wanted to charge me $3,470. 140% plus mark up which he claimed to be labor. The job couldn't be more than 20 minutes... the unit just slides right in. I called to see if that was accurate and his reply was "we are contractors.. we need to make money." I totally get that but not at that ridiculous pricing. The wine fridge brand new wasn't even that much money. I'm going to look for someone with more reasonable pricing. Update - I just ordered a brand new unit with free shipping for under 1,600. Installation instructions are extremely easy. Still don't understand managements comments below. They quoted me for more than what the cabinet unit itself cost brand new.. not just the cooling unit. read more

I contacted this company through Yelp three weeks ago, giving them an overview of our heating situation, and asking for their availability to come out for an inspection and quote. Although the general manager, Susan, replied right away, it was clear to me that she misread the vast majority of my message. She closed her reply by telling me they were quite busy and that she wasn't sure they could meet my timeline (I hadn't actually provided one). I answered the same day, clarifying what she had misread, mentioning that we didn't have a set timeline because I wasn't sure how long the work would take, and again asking for their availability to come out to inspect our furnace and give us a quote. I never heard from her again. It's pretty obvious that they initially answer Yelp quote requests so quickly in order to keep their response rate high and response time low on the site, but aren't actually interested in getting new customers. -EDIT in response to owner's comment below- My rating is not a result of any frustration with another company's delays or with Susan's honesty about being booked up and doubting Cold Craft's ability to meet a timeline. It's a result of being completely ignored after giving some background on our situation and simply requesting their availability to come inspect our heater. ASAP means "as soon as possible." Whether the soonest possible date available was three, four, or five weeks out, I wanted to have that information in order to have the opportunity to make a decision about whether to proceed. Instead, Susan made an assumption about my timeline and never provided me with what I requested. We haven't got a quote and I'm going to write this review with 1 star...... I called a week ago scheduled an in-home estimate for a new furnace and AC. Today I called back to ask which brand of system do they normally quote with and if I can just get a over the phone quote or e-mail since I already know which system I want. (I already have 3 other quotes and made up our mind which system to go with and just happened they quote with the same brand of system) That way it save me time to take few hours off from work to do this. The guy over the phone replied: "If you already got other quotes from other companies you should just go with them. I am very busy at this time I cannot help you. If all comes down to saving money and cost for you, you should just go with other companies!" How rude was that? To me I would think I am making your job easier so you don't have to spend too much time to explain to me the difference in system and it made me feel like you don't even want to try to win my business. What kind of customer services is this? I understand this is summer season when everyone wants a new AC system so to save everyone time wouldn't be faster and easier for both side if I letting you know which system I want and all other details you might need. I honestly don't know what we would do without ColdCraft. They saved our hides in 2017! For some reason, our heater and A/C were running simultaneously - we couldn't figure out the issue, but called in our go-to-HVAC gurus at ColdCraft and they quickly diagnosed the problem. We paid just over $200 to ColdCraft and then by doing so, found out we had the ability to go after our home-alarm company for the overpayments we had been charged by PG&E due to their error in setting up our thermostat. I learned first hand that ColdCraft is a company that truly cares about their clients. They even wrote an letter on their letterhead, explaining exactly what happened so we could request a reimbursement. They were also instrumental to our architect when planning out a remodel in 2016. They handle commercial and much larger projects and I'm glad as a homeowner to know that they can share their expertise even with the "small jobs" I have for them at our house. I have been a ColdCraft customer since 2015 and would not go anywhere else. They are fair and also help us proactively manage our house, with instructions and tips on how to maintain and SAVE MONEY. Thank you ColdCraft, especially Susan Nichol, who followed up with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. ColdCraft is one of the few "Diamond Certified" HVAC companies and are trustworthy. I have read recent stories about non-accredited vendors and scams/robbery attempts. If you are looking for cheap, and don't care who enters your house, go ahead and go with the lowest bid - ColdCraft is probably not for you. Very professional and so on it. We hired Cold Craft as a referral from a referral. We were told they were awesome at wine cellars. Unfortunately, we have had some tough times with Phil Finers for the last year that we needed a new person to install a new wine cellar unit. I started with Kent just emailing and sending pictures and telling him what we needed. It was a big job. Take down the ceiling mount old system and put in a new one that would either fit in that space or go under the house. He sent Barry out. Barry figured out the solution and after the holidays and new electrical put in by us, Barry came back out with his crew and got the job done in 1 1/4 days. (not even a half, just a couple of hours more the next day). They were timely and professional. Susan, the CEO, even called me to follow up on the install. When our furnace died on us in October, 2002, we called Cold Craft, Inc. about installing a new furnace. We dealt with Kent who showed us a variety of furnace options to choose from. He told us the advantages and disadvantages to each furnace, but he did not try to sell us a larger furnace than we needed. We ultimately bought a Bryant furnace and it does exactly what he said it would do; it keeps our house cozy warm with no blasts of hot air. When we decided to add air conditioning in August, 2016, we again called Cold Craft, Inc. This time we dealt with Brian who also gave us a variety of options to choose from. Again, he did not try to sell us more than we needed. We are very happy with our Bryant air conditioner. We have since had Cold Craft, Inc. technicians come out to perform routine maintenance on both the furnace and the air conditioner. We are very pleased with everyone at Cold Craft, Inc. They all took the time to answer our many, many questions, which is important to us. They came on time and worked quickly when they were here. Purchased a new heater last December after our old one broke. Got a an excellent and very efficient unit installed for a great price. They know their business well and explained not only the different options available, but the complete process of replacement, as well. They were on time and completed the process the same day with no mess left behind. Based on our PGE bills over the last 6 months we have easily cut our gas usage by over 10% and the unit is much quieter than our old one. Very happy with them and our new unit. read more

Extremely dishonest, unprofessional, and bad service. Avoid at any cost! Unless you want to pay $$$ for someone to harass your family (yes you read it right) and not do their job!! My wife walked their technician (Patrick) to the apartment, while I was parking. He didn't see me. While walking, he told my wife "wow you look so young and beautiful" and wanted to show her his Facebook pictures on his phone!! She was shocked and was like what a weirdo!! Moreover, he looked at the AC then said he needs a specific piece to fix it. So he said "I will go look quickly in my car maybe I have one". He spent 30+ minutes and showed up 10 mins later AFTER I called the office saying your guy had disappeared! He then came back saying he couldn't find it - basically did not fix the issue. Then, he billed me 2 full hours ($316) including the time he spent "looking" for the piece. Btw - I don't care because the landlord pays anyways not me. So, I said let me call the office and tell them what happened maybe they will waive this time. He said "ok I will be right back", then left again and never showed up again! He just left! I said maybe he was right and he was genuinely looking for that thing. Then my wife told me what happened once he left. I was furious! So, I called the office and talked with this manager (Susan) who was even more rude, unprofessional, and blunt than him. She said "yeah the time he did spend it doing something for you so you have to pay for it". I said fine I am not paying anyways. Then I told her about this harassment and told her this very unprofessional and I know you as a company won't accept that and it is just one of your technicians. To my shock, she bluntly said "no, what he was said/did was fine and you and your wife are just exaggerating. He was being nice". I was like WTH this is extremely unprofessional and no one does that to a complete stranger ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE YOUR CLIENT!! Several months ago my HVAC was not cooling. The technician spent 10 minutes to diagnose the problem, and said he couldn't find a leak. He said he would use a dye pack, but he didn't have it with him; so he had to drive a couple cities away to buy one. Then he recharged the unit with a lot of freon. The total bill came to almost $800, including 2 hours ( almost $300) of "service", which consisted of him driving to buy a dye pack. This is so unprofessional, that I had to pay for him to go get a part that a repairman should come with. It's not even a custom part; it's a dye pack! If he had actually solved the problem, I wouldn't be writing this review. But the HVAC was broken again after a month or so, in fact worse than before I called them. Susan, thank you for your replay. I appreciate it very much! You are deffinitly not being told the whole story from the workers that have now been out to our house for the FOURTH time today. The On call guy that came out had to completely replace part of the pipes the first guys had put in because they did it wrong and every time the air conditioner ran, water would poor out of the pipes. Then a third person had to come out because the first and second guys failed to clear out some type of pipe that water drains out of, it was clogged so water continued to poor out, not just leak. Our carpet was a LITTLE damp, yes, but as for all the screw ups we were walking through a puddle, literally. At first you guys were so nice saying it would all be taken care of ( carpet would be dried by big fans, baseboard would be replaced, filter would be put in, and cement slab would be picked up) the cement slab was finally picked up on the 3rd trip out here, and the filter was replaced today, the fourth trip. They DID replace the vent, or grill as you were calling it. It's a nice big white one now that looks a whole lot better, other then it NOT fitting which is why the baseboard had to come off! I had an amazing, positive experience with Cold Craft. I called Cold Craft yesterday, during Labor Day weekend, on one of the hottest days EVER recorded in the Bay Area. They actually weren't able to make it on the same day because they were madly busy, but they were amazing. One of their techs, Ariel, took the time to patiently walk me through diagnosing my AC unit over the phone, including having me sending him photos of the circuit board, and giving me several things to try, before he was able to conclude that the blower motor was fried . My problem wasn't ultimately fixed because it required a replacement part, but that was the nicest, most friendly interaction I've ever had with an appliance technician, especially considering that it was done for FREE! First, they were the first refrigeration company to get out and fix a dead cooling unit for a wine cellar full of high value wine, in the middle of the summer. Cold Craft originally came to clean and to perform a safety inspection on our furnace. While inspecting the furnace, their technician found one side of the heating rod is badly burned, which can produce carbon monoxide. Learning from the technician that my wife is 9 month pregnant and is due any day, Susan from Cold Craft contacted my wife and me to give us the detailed information for the new basic furnace installation. She also helped to expedite the installation before the baby come, so that our baby can have the warmth from the new furnace, and be safe from the possibility of harmful carbon monoxide.
