We had a kids' party for our son's bar mitzvah last night, and Colbeh arranged for amazing food, a full entertainment package, photography with a videographer, and decorations. The party was absolutely fabulous and our son had the time of his life. The food was arranged beautifully, was fresh, and delicious. We have fantastic portraits and action shots from the entire evening. The DJ and MC made sure that all of the kids were engaged on the dance floor. It was obvious that all the kids had a great time. We were so happy with the outcome. Colbeh is the place to go if you want a great party. They made the planning simple, but tended to every detail, and delivered a sophisticated result. I highly recommend Colbeh for any party or event. Pejman is a pleasure to work with. He genuinely wants his patrons to be happy. read more

Tasty, very generous portions of Persian cuisine. The meats were spiced nicely, and the burekas tasted fresh and not like the frozen packages. The entrees are a tad pricy, but it did include pita, pickled vegetables, and fruit for dessert. Not sure if this is typical for all meals. 2 stars removed for the service. It was nothing special, and they were too quick to remove plates even though the restaurant was not crowded. Also, when asking for food to be packaged, the waiter did not include all of the remaining food in the to-go bag. I don't know why you would throw away part of the rice and vegetables? I'd go back but would consider take-out as an alternative. read more

Whether going just for a meal or celebrating in their party room Colbeh is first rate all the way. The food is always plentiful and amazing. The service is exceptional with the staff polite and efficient. I love how the party room is set up with sofas for shmoozing and tables to sit down and eat. The wonderful atmosphere is a result of the warmth that emanates from the proprietor Pejman. He is extremely generous and always throws in extras. I have heard, you first visit a restaurant for the food you go back for the service. Colbeh has the best service of any local restaurants I've been to. Their food is always good. The meat dishes are great but the Chilean sea bass is amazing. It's a bit pricey but you really do get what you pay for. It's a good place for family outing and I usually have my business lunches there. read more

I really like middle eastern food so last week i decided to give them a chance. I took 2 friends and we decided to check their menu 1] Their white rice get 9 out of 10 2] Yellow rice 8/10 3] Chicken is ok but wasn't so fresh 4] Ground beef was done properly In general the service and the atmosphere was fine but I've been in better The price wasn't as i heard but it wasn't so expensive read more

If you like bland Persian food modified to fit American taste, poor service (they bring you the bill when you did not ask for it yet and bring you the main dishes when you did not even finish the appetizers for example) and noisy uncomfortable atmosphere this place is for you. The menu never changed since they have been in business and it is obvious that they don't have a real chef with a decent understanding of Persian food. Their dishes lack creativity and are uninspiring; my Persian friends make similar dishes at home that taste hundred times better. I have to say that preparing Persian food especially the rice is lengthy and tedious...their kebab are just decent. The only dish that stands out is the rice with orange peels. They are lucky they have a huge Persian community in GN and women (along with their family) who patronize this restaurant just because they don't want to bother cooking. I had delicious bademjoun (eggplant, tomato, and veal stew) with orange rice, and a tender, flavorful kebab barg (Steak kebab) with cherry rice, full of barberries, and served with a whole grilled plum tomato, tarragon, and mint garnish. A complimentary appetizer of hummus, pickled vegetables (torshi), and fried kibbeh with a delectable Russian dressing sauce, and crispy grilled flatbread was delicious and most welcome. I recently had my daughter's bridal shower in the back private party room. I worked with Pejman, and he was very attentive and really went above and beyond to make the party wonderful. There was an abundance of food, really - so many choices of cold dishes and hot dishes. My guests were shocked to find out that there was yet another course of kabobs and rice being served to the table!!!! The staff was attentive, came around with coffee and tea throughout the party. I could not have asked for better staff. The party went without a hitch, my friends went home stuffed, and the bride-to-be was happy. The food was delicious, and as I said very abundant. Desserts were great too! To top it off, the private party room was spacious and pretty. When I decided to have my party here it was because I needed a restaurant that was kosher and had a party room. My immediate family is vegetarian, so a meat centered restaurant did not seem like the likely place. But, it was! If you book a party with them you will not be disappointed, everything was great! Arrogant and obnoxious - stay away! This restaurant was recommended to me by a close friend that is Persian so i was excited to give them a chance when i needed a pretty large order delivered. Here was my experience: When I called I was told that the minimum for delivery was $100. and I agreed to that knowing that my order would exceed that amount. Next I was told that there would be a $10. delivery charge, which I questioned but agreed to. I was put on long "holds" 4 times when trying to place the order. When the 'gentleman" eventually came back to the phone he then said " We aren't doing delivery today". Despite the above dialogue and having a house full of hungry guests, I placed an order by phone which i agreed to pick up. The food was no better than average, not special at all for the prices, and the experience was so poor that i do not recommend this establishment and will never order from them again. read more

I had an unbelievable family event at Colbeh last month! I was blown away by the diversity and abundance of Colbeh's well prepared, well presented, and absolutely delicious food! Most of my American guests were delighted to taste Persian food for the fist time. They raved about it that night and they are still talking about it. That alone makes me feel great about my decision. As the host, I was so pleasantly surprised at how well orchestrated everything went. The room was well appointed and clean, the staff worked seamlessly together like a well oiled machine, and again, the food was spectacularly delicious! Truthfully, Colbeh is so experienced at event management and catering that on the night of my party I was able to be a guest! I had the chance to eat and enjoy myself, mingle, and have fun. I didn't have to worry about a thing. It was a gift. My event was a hit and I am so very grateful to Colbeh for all that they did to cater to me and my guests. I would do again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend Colbeh as a party venue to anyone looking to celebrate a special and important event especially if they want a sensational outcome! read more

Such an outstanding kosher restaurant. This is the place to go if you're seeking excellent food and an upscale atmosphere. If you have never tried Persian food, you are in for a treat at this elegant and well-run eatery. Go for the koobideh, chicken joujeh, barg, tahdig, khoresh, and the various rices. My wife and I recently hosted a post-wedding cocktail party on a Sunday afternoon for ninety (90) guests. The preliminary discussions were always friendly and courteous and, most importantly, re-assuring that they would make a great party. Last minute changes were never a problem, and we even made a serving change during the party. The food was presented elegantly, both buffet style and table-served, and was of gourmet quality freshness and taste. The party was terrific and many friends commented as such. Went to Colbeh in Great Neck on 2/11/13 and was given flat bread. Asked for the dips for the flat bread and was charged $23 for the dips. Asked for 2 cups of hot water and was charged $3 for the hot water. Waiter explained that dip sauce was Kosher and extra expensive. Would not go again as I felt ripped off being charged $23 for the dip sauce. read more

This is one of the rare times i've actually written a review, but i was so happy with my experience i felt it necessary. I called looking for a private room in order to surprise my then girlfriend now fiancee with a special night to show how much she means to me. Pejman took my call and i informed him this was the first time that i had ever attempted to set something like this up, to which he replied no need to worry he'd take care of everything. Of course i still called and emailed dozens of times with questions and concerns till the actual night. He responded to each and every concern making it clear everything was going to be fine. He was not wrong. The place was set up beautifully, the food was delicious, and the price was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about the service, and how how happy my fiancee was. Colbeh is a solid 4 star rating-no doubt about it. I was a guest at an anniversary party, and it appeared that my gracious host ordered everything off the menu. Also note that Colbeh is a GLATT KOSHER restaurant, meaning strictest KOSHER. You can rest assured that ingredients are cleaned, especially vegetables, than other restaurants. Being a guest I have no clue as to prices, but what I can tell you is that whatever I sampled-and I sampled a lot-but not everything on our table, was that every item has been expertly prepared, marinated and seasoned to perfection. The kitchen staff at Colbeh know what they're doing. The food is exotic, colorful and very tasty. Some items were new experiences for me. For example rice dishes with cherries and another with orange peels and zest-wonderful! Some very small complaints that really don't effect my rating was that the pita was a little dry for me. This could be a Persian thing for all I know, and lastly, the dining areas were rather dark and may need a refreshening. But other than that I would definitely go to Colbeh again. read more
