Very nice family owned Afghan restaurant in new Hyde Park, the food was good. The service was good as well not much of an ambience, but they have delicious Afghan food. I do recommend for someone looking for something different.

I was so happy with this food I was talking about it for a few days. All of the dishes I ordered were delicious and full of spices and flavor. If you have never tried Afghan food, I suggest you try it soon. Restaurant is quite roomy with two eating areas and a bar area in the middle. The young man who served us was extremely pleasant and helpful.

My friend and I were craving Kabobs so she recommend us come here since she has been wanting to try this place for a while. The place itself is very peaceful and we immediately felt like we would be too loud for this place, but it was fine. They have a variety of different Kabob options as well as combination platters and other food options. They provide butter and naan for the table before you order the food. We decided to order: -Bolanee as our appetizer: this was really good, very crispy on the outside with potatos on the inside and white sauce as the dipping sauce. -Steak Kabob: This is what I got - they ask how you would like it cooked and I got medium. The meat was very tender and not dry at all. The rice was also very nicely seasoned and since I absolutely love white sauce, their white sauce went super well with the food. -Ground Chicken Kabob: This is what my friend got and she gave me some of the chicken to try. It came with two pieces of chicken kabob, and the chicken kabob was nicely seasoned and the flavors were really good. She really liked their green sauce as she doesn't like white sauce. Overall - definitely fulfilled our craving for kabobs and would highly recommend this place!

Great service, authentic afghani food. Perfect ambiance and family vibes. My uncle loved his lamb shank and rice.

Delicous food! Not like those other "Afghan" places pretending to cook afghani food lol. I got the chapli kebab and barg kebab with rice. Also the fish kebab. Small place but friendly service and great food!

Great and food and really nice people! We ordered hummus, sambosas and bolanee. We were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures of those but they were delicious. We love all of the sauces although the green may be my favorite. For entrees, we ordered kabob barg, shrimp kabob and Tikka (lamb) kabob. All were so delicious! The brown rice was so flavorful! And the onions really complement the meat and rice dishes. We were too full to order desserts.

BYOB!! Good size portions great service parking out front. Gets full on weekends for dinner!

$32!!!! Supposed to serve 2 people

Usually we dine in this restaurant and the portions are regular sized and very tasty. This is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. I placed an order to go today. It was for 2 kabobs combo special. The total cost was $32. Now for $32, you can see below what they tried to pass off as a two kabob combo special. My husband questioned this portion size and they gave him a bs excuse about they changed their containers. I try to support local restaurants but I do not like to get ripped off. So if you're dining In, go for it. Stay away from the taking your food to go. They will rob you! FYI - if you're craving Afghan food, try Kabul kabab house on Main Street, you can get 3 combo kabob for $50 and it comes in a large aluminum tray! Definitely get your money's worth!

First trip to the Afghan grill as there are many closer to where I live however since we were in the area and were in the mood we decided to give this a try. FamIly owned and run business I met the owners kid Omar who was a super nice and friendly guy. He was the one who took our order for our dinner and drink. We got the combo grill since there were 2 of us and we substituted the lamb chops for only $7 extra instead of getting one of the chicken skewers. With the lamb chops we also got the barg. The food was delicious, they had this cayenne pepper sauce which I had never seen before which had a bit of a kick to it which was also very good. Overall the cleanliness food and service were terrific, since it was my first time here and we only tried two of the meats I will give this a 4/5. I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes.

This spot is one of my favorites in LI!! The quality of the rice and meat has always been spot on. I have not had one bad experience here, always consistent!! My favorites are usually the chicken and lamb kebabs and their salad and vegetable dishes are seasoned well and very flavorful. I wish there was an option to add on an extra meat as there is usually more rice than meat but other than that no complaints. Also always very generous with the white sauce...can't resist (which is sometimes a problem LOL) Will continue to support this business!! Very sweet family. Look forward to dining in the near future ...

Dinner For Four: skirt steak, Cornish hen, kofta from left to right
    Matthew C.

Got: Dinner for 4 (assorted lamb and a beef kabobs with cornish hen) Price: $76 Value: Decent price with large portions (more than enough for leftovers) OPEN DURING COVID (as of 5/18/2020 We usually take out from this place and get the dinner for 4. It comes with: Tray of seasoned basmati rice (enough for 6-7 people) Flat bread (great when reheated) 3 sauces (tart green sauce, spicy sauce, creamy white sauce) Choice of 4 meats (there's an assortment of lamb, beef, chicken kabobs and cornish hen). My favorite is the cornish hen, really tender and flavorful. Choice of 2 stews (egg plant lamb, okra, spinach, pumpkin). We usually get the eggplant lamb stew and okra. Spinach is also really tasty but less worth is than the okra which is more of a novelty. 2 containers of salad with dressing. Standard salad with lettuce, shredded cabbage, and carrot. Overall great place. Always a go to for my family! Definitely worth to take out so you can save the leftovers and use the sauces/bread for another meal or snack. TIP: Air frying or baking the flat bread turns them into chips :)))

Kabul Kabab offers the most delectable, flavorful, and cost-effective family meal in the area. The combo #1 or #2 is more than enough to feed a family of 4-6 and it has great value. A combo comes with salad, onions/grilled tomatoes, 2-4 skewers if your choice (depending on which one you get) and a whole STEAMER TRAY of delicious rice. Pro tip: the lamb kebab is always worth the extra $3 or so and the brown rice is the winner in our home (brown rice = more flavorful + more fiber = winwin!) Please do give this place a try if you're in the area and need to feed at least 3-4 mouths--the people there are so nice and the food is amazing--would give 30/10 stars if I could!

Tried the chicken kofta during dinner time which came with two skewers, rice, onions and roasted tomato, and house salad. House bread came with the typical sauces (a yogurt, a cilantro, and chili sauce). Meat was tender and well seasoned. Brown rice was nice too and sumac and paprika were on the table for garnish. I also ordered the qabuli rice topping which was disappointing. Usually the shredded carrots are candied, but these were normal carrots and raisins microwaved with lots of moisture but not transformed in any way. Nonetheless, food was good and portions were generous. Easily makes two meals.

Today my other half was in the mood for lamb so I ordered the lamb shank kabuli again along with the chef combo which consisted of lamb chop, lamb tikka, chicken and fish over rice. Bamia- This was like a stewed Okra and I loved this dish, the okra was cooked down but the flavor was so damn good. Mantu- This was a nice delicate dumpling, it was made well but because of the cumin I couldn't help think it reminded me of Tex Mex food. Aushuk- This was OK, it was kinda strange because there was this fermented flavor to it that kinda bothered me. Chicken Afghani Kabab- I am shocked to say this but the chicken was my favorite protein. It was perfection, it was perfectly juicy with a nice smokey outer char, this was amazing. Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao- This was a braised lamb shank and was no teeth required tender. It so incredibly delicate and so delicious. Salmon- Fat slabs of salmon cooked to perfection with a nice outer smokey char. So good. Lamb Kabab- This was fine but not as exciting as the above. The lamb was chewier than I was hoping but the flavor was nice. Beef Kofta- It was like a ground meat patty. It was ok, it was a bit chewy and a bit dry but it was alright.
