I wanted to do a unique and modern fireplace wall, as well as an under-the-stairs storage pantry…read morefor roughly a year- I reached out to numerous contractors, but Victor had the confidence and schedule to help me with these projects. After a lot of time with Haley, the designer, we were ready to move forward. Haley is amazing- she listened to my likes and dislikes and unlike many other designers in the area- she nailed it. That's about the end of this project moving smoothly. Construction started as scheduled, but with little communication about details and expectations- immediately beginning with frustration on both sides. That was a theme for the rest of this project- that was supposed to be a two-week endeavor, but several months later the project was still carrying on. The project continued with lackluster communication- I never knew who was coming and when they would be at my home, something important for a female homeowner Victor was not only passive aggressive, but he was unprofessional and downright rude at times, even blaming my project for being the reason he needed to cancel a vacation with his family. When he didn't have an answer on the project process or didn't like my questions on the timeline, he passed me off to members of his team who he hadn't yet looped in either. Victor would continue to tell me issues were "out of their control," however, he hadn't even begun scoping sub-contractors for parts of the project until it had already begun- a factor well in his control. Communication was a constant challenge, not only when work would be completed or delayed- but even as the scope shifted or designs changed- including elements I didn't agree with or didn't want in my project. Compromise after compromise was made and now I'm not even happy with a project I've invested significant financial investments in, not to mention disheveled my home environment and life for over a month. I would not recommend working with Arise again- their leader has no foresight into this project, but as well as poor planning and communication skills. The team and the contractors he hired, however, were lovely people- and had they had some leadership into the scope/timeline/anticipated outcome of the project, I'm sure it would have been smoother. Do yourself and your sanity a favor and choose another contractor for your home renovation project.

In summary, AC offers very high quality work for a fair price. After discovering that the previous…read moreowners of my home removed a load-bearing wall, a structural engineer informed me that I would need some serious repairs to fix the issue. I've renovated several prior homes myself, and I don't hire out jobs unless I absolutely need to, but this task was beyond my capabilities. During the quoting process, Alejandro at AC was one of the most thorough and took the time to discuss the project and patiently answer all my questions. His quote came out very fair for the scope of work. Throughout the project, Alejandro and his crew were friendly, respectful, clean, trustworthy, and efficient. When my engineer came out to sign off on the structural repairs, he said it was some of the best work he had ever seen. The final product was very impressive as well. I'm very picky about details when it comes to finish quality, and I often find myself touching up the work of others after they leave. That wasn't the case here - Alejandro's finish quality is top-notch, and won't require any additional touch-ups. I've already mentioned Alejandro to a couple friends who are considering renovations, and I'm sure I'll be hiring him again in the future.

Alex did a remodel for our kitchen, which was basically a tear down, including knocking down some…read morewalls and moving lots of things around. All in all, Alex did a great job for us. He had given us a time frame of about 9 weeks (which was faster than anyone else) and I think it was closer to 10 or 10 1/2, but still fantastic. Let me first start with the price. His quote was by the far the least expensive and it wasn't because he does his own work (rather than just being a GC). And we probably only went over by about 10%, in part of because of some changes we made and in part because of some extra HVAC (which happens when you move walls). Second, his communication was really good. He was always quick to respond to text and would provide me with pretty detailed updates on progress and time frames. He was juggling a lot of different people for different parts of the project and sometimes the dates would move, but he was proactive for most of the changes. Next, the quality of the work was really good. We didn't have to ask him to re-do things and don't really have any complaints about the workmanship (his or his subcontractors). He doesn't have multiple crews (he does a lot of the work himself), so that was partially why things took a bit longer (he was wrapping one job at the start and then had to start a new job at the end of ours), but I can live with an extra week or so, given how long previous contractors took with projects. We're planning to use him for our back yard next Spring and I wouldn't hesitate to use him for any remodel you are looking to have done on time and for a fair price.

He communicated with us throughout the process, kept us informed every step of the way, never cut corners, and took great pride in the quality of his work. The finished result exceeded our expectations and transformed our outdoor space into a beautiful extension of our home that we look forward to enjoying for many years to come. We especially appreciated how seamlessly Adrian coordinated with our interior flooring contractor to ensure the installation of the new sliding door and hardwood flooring came together perfectly. He came prepared with lots of information and documentation at our initial meeting. He was very quick to respond and he had an idea for the layout that no one else had thought of. Once things got rolling our project manager was Chuck and I can't speak highly enough of him. He and his team were very professional and everything was completed to our expectations and in some cases beyond. Chuck did a great job of always checking to make sure things were done the right way and if he thought it wasn't good enough he made sure it got done to his standards. He is without a doubt the best contractor I've ever worked with. As far as budget and timeline goes the only things that went over budget were things that we decided to change or upgrade. The timeline also went as expected. Before they even started they gave us an estimate but also told to expect some delays. We expected it to be done by the end of the summer and it was. I would most definitely recommend Empirical Construction for any project and if we need any work done in the future I'll be giving them a call.

Shortly after, I received a response from the business advising me that they did not currently have the capacity for our project. Understanding the circumstance, but also willing to wait for the right team, I responded and asked the business to let me know if that changed in the future, as we have several projects in our home and are hoping to bring the same team aboard for all of them. I then received the attached response offering a completely different explanation than before. Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.
