After quite a few quotes from other companies, I decided to go with Benjamin and B & D Drywall. I would first like to say that in a sea of crappy companies, this one definitely stands out! He was on time with his appt to give us a quote, was more than willing to add new parts to the project, without complaint, and is very professional. Not only did he tear out the old drywall in our basement, but he picked up and installed the new insulation and skimmed the laundry room walls- Best Job I have ever seen. They were always on time or early and worked very hard to please us. His company only accepts cash or check, but his bid comes in significantly lower that all of the other companies and he gets the job done. He even accommodated us by waiting 3 weeks after tearing the old drywall out before coming back, so we could have new recessed lighting in, which he cut in and added access doors where there weren't any before, and did not ask for funds up front. I'm handy myself and so repaired the leak and replaced the drywall. However, quality drywall finish and texture is an art, especially when it needs to be matched to existing work (in our case, below, amidst, and at the recess). So, I reached out to Benjamin. He gave me a very reasonable quote based on a pair of photographs, and was able to execute the work within 48 hours. He was conscientious about cleanliness, and completed the job in under four hours. I am very pleased that I hired B&D Drywall. I vaulted my ceiling in an old house, so it was a tricky job trying to cleanly transition between existing plaster and new drywall. I contacted Ben to fix a hole in my drywall. He responded quickly and fixed the hole the next day. After he was done, I asked him to give me an estimate on resurfacing the walls and ceilings in my entry, kitchen, dining room and living room. They had that fake troweled on texture from the 90s, and it was way past time for it to go. He gave me a very reasonable quote. Today, the work was completed, and I came home to beautiful new walls and I couldn't be happier. They took time to cover all the floors, tape all the trim and cabinets off to protect them. Ben, and his team are AWESOME! That is my bottom line evaluation from my initial contact with him through the completion of his work. The work I wanted him to do was to repair a water damaged ceiling that extended to many places over about 50% of the total ceiling area of our condo. He responded to my initial phone call in less than 12 hours. He set up a date and time to do an estimate, and he was there as promised. He said he would have an estimate for me in two days, and he did. We set up a date to start the work and he said it would be two to three days of work...and it ended up being two. He covered everything with plastic and made walls of plastic to contain the debris from the rip out of old drywall, popcorn ceiling texture, and the installation and texturing of the new. In the end, it was not only a comprehensive and professionally done job, but the clean up was exceptional as he vacuumed the areas where they had worked.
