I am a huge coffee rush fan. From living right next to the one on Dobson and ray. It has become my #1 coffee spot. Ofcourse supporting local. But this location. I went in today. I asked for caramel macchiato frost. Well first. (Took some time to get the front worker to stop talking to another lady.) asked for almond milk. He said " can't promise anything ". Which threw me off. I asked if they were out of almond milk. He responds with " no I just can't promise I'll remember ". Who says that ? Then he begins making it. Makes most of the cup almond milk which alarmed me considering I've seen this drink get made hundreds of times. The. He turns around and says " half and half " and I respond with no. The frost please. I also asked for double loaded. Did not get that. Just honestly pretty crappy experience. Very unprofessional and poorly made drink. I came a few days ago too. Service was better but drink was still just not made properly. Need some trainers from the lake location to train staff properly. Guy had long black hair and a septum. Coffee Rush is a quintessential coffee shop hangout. It has all of the elements necessary for a "go to" spot: Good drinks: My favorites are the Black and White Frost, Mint Mocha Frost, and Deadly Soda. Good Customer Service: The baristas are always cheerful, very quick, and sometimes a bit quirky Nice enough indoor seating: It isn't plush, at all. But, there always seems to be enough seating, and the groupings of tables and chairs are varied enough that there is generally space to comfortably seat groups of any size (from tables of 2 for my hubby and I to a banquette table that we could squish 8 people into if needed) Free Internet Access with the purchase of a drink: When you buy your drink, you can ask for a code to log onto the internet. It is good for 3 hours. I can't imagine complaining about 3 hours of free internet - if you've sat in the restaurant for 3 hours, its time to buy another drink anyway. Their process is painless and the connection is always decent, unlike other "free internet" places where you are subject to a limited amount of bandwidth that can be taken up by squatters who aren't buying anything and are streaming videos, music, etc for hours on end. Loyalty Card: You know the drill - you get a card, they stamp it, you get a free drink eventually. Its nice to have and is an incentive for me to return to Coffee Rush locations instead of hitting up a competitor. There are a few things that are just okay - namely, the pastry selection and the patio. The pastry selection is pretty disappointing. I got a muffin once and it was just sort of crumbly and average. The things in the case don't really ever look very good and aren't your typical coffee shop fare - think storebought cheesecake and baklava instead of muffins, breakfast breads, croissants, etc. The patio is actually quite nice - spacious, shaded, has misters, plenty of seating, lots of plug ins for laptops, etc. However, they allow smoking out there and so, being a non-smoking asthmatic, I unfortunately can't comfortably spend time out there. My wish is that they would either a) disallow smoking, which I realize isn't likely or b) have two separate patios - a smoking patio and a non-smoking patio, preferably on opposite sides of the building. For the moment, I just stay inside, which is generally just fine since its 100 degrees or more outside anyway. I can definitely recommend Coffee Rush! Haven't ever had a bad experience at a coffee shop before until this one, and I've been to many coffee shops. My friends and I are planning our trip to LA this weekend so we needed to meet up somewhere to book the hotel & etc but we all were working late so I thought hmm where's a place that's open late during the week? I thought Coffee Rush, it's open til 11pm, I've been here like twice before and it has a nice atmosphere outside. So I told the girls to meet there, some drove all the way from Glendale to meet up here. Anyways so we sit down (there's 8 of us) at this point and in the first 5 min of being there a worker comes up to us and says "There needs to be a majority of your group with drinks. Theres 8 of you so at least 4." 3 of us had already bought a drink when they got there so we were like okay...I guess we'll go buy one more drink? It just seemed so silly. So a few more girls in our group show up and now there's 12 of us total. We told the new girls to go and buy some drinks (they also had laptops with them and in order to use the wifi you have to buy a drink to get a code that can only be used on one device) We go on with our night sitting outside in a corner just minding our own business not being loud or disrespectful to the people around us, and the owner/general manager whoever comes up to us and asks us if we had "called in before hand to ask for permission to have such a large party there" We're like uh no, we didn't know that was a rule? I mean who would?? And he was just completely rude and kept saying "yes you need to email us or call us telling us how many people you have and see if it's okay before coming in here with such a big group" (remember there was 12 of us, not really that big of a party, there was plenty of other open tables and chairs etc for other guests) So then he says he will let it slide this one time, and we're like okay whatever sorry we didn't know?? If all of that terribly customer service wasn't enough... There's a back gate to come in to the patio, and one of our friends ran out to their car to get something and came back in through the gate, and a worker yelled at us and said we have to make them go around through the front entrance!! How ridiculous!! She went out there for a second. -Oh also if you want to purchase a drink on a debit or credit card & you're just buying one drink, it has to be the largest size because there's a certain dollar amount that is required to make a purchase on your card. I have never took the time to write such a long review on yelp or anything before, but my experience here really pissed me off. Especially since I recommended this place to my friends and they had to make the drive out here. You can say that next time we will be going to a Starbucks or somewhere else of the sort that has better and more reasonable customer service!! read more

I wish I lived closer, but I have to make due when I'm in the area (my hairdresser and doctor are near here). I suffer a terrible lack of indie coffee places near my house, so I'm always on the lookout for indie places when I'm on the go. I've been going to Coffee Rush for ages and ages, at least the location in Chandler. I didn't know that this one was here until I passed it on the way to the doctor's, so now it's my routine when I have to go to the doctors to stop in and visit. This place has the best sugar-free coffees I've ever had, and I count all the places I've had them abroad and in other states too. There are so many flavors to chose from, and all of them are equally tasty. Those of you that have had Starbuck's "skinny" frappuccinos know that they're terrible and taste like asphalt and strange chemicals. If you go to Dutch Brothers, they lack the ability to make the sugar-free flavors blended, and it comes out a strange consistency and isn't creamy. Coffee Rush really doesn't have that problem at all--they can do pretty much anything sugar-free and it's always amazing. I particularly love the Black and White and Caramel Machiatto sugar-free flavors, if you get them blended and "loaded" (they add extra espresso, which gives it a strong coffee flavor I love). They're not cloyingly sweet and they lack the strong aftertaste that a lot of coffee shops think you just ought to put up with if you order sugar-free. Their regular flavors are just as good (although for health reasons I can't do anything but sample a friend's when they order them). They also do a fantastic chai latte, with the proper amount of spice (Starbucks' tastes like candy, which is not a proper chai, thanks). If you're a sweet-tooth, they have a wide selection of Italian sodas that I've been told are fantastic. My wife particularly loves the passion fruit flavor, which she says is amazing and better than any soda you can buy in stores. I like the actual storefront itself, too. They have a wi-fi password you have to ask for when you buy a drink, so there's always seating available as the wi-fi stealers aren't allowed to stick around (no offense if you are one, but some of us like to buy coffee all day and study and it's hard to do if you're squatting). Their patio is quite large it's a very nice place to hang out. Their wi-fi is sufficiently fast, as well. Not as good as my house, but it's not slow enough to irritate me. I usually download documents and such from here, I don't stream, so I have no idea if it's good enough for that (but really, is anything in America outside of fiber networks?) I'm giving this place five stars for two reasons, mainly. (A) Their sugar-free flavors are the best I've had and (B) the baristas are really, really friendly and perky. I wish I enjoyed my job as much as the guys who work here do. I don't know where they find their baristas, but hats off to their hiring managers for getting and retaining such friendly and competent employees. I've been here when the line's really backed up, and I've never felt ignored or that the barista was taking too much time. They're always spot-on on my orders, even when I ask for weird things. And I'm pretty sure their retention is amazing for food service, because I typically see the same people working here for months, even years. They all know the flavors and coffee really well, and they'll turn you on to some nifty combos and flavors you wouldn't think to order yourself if you ask them. Seriously, I've had less friendly service in expensive hotels and spas than I have had at Coffee Rush. I can't say I've ever had a complaint about the cleanliness, service, and quality of their coffee. My only complaint is that I wish they could demolish the Starbucks across the street from my house and build one of these instead. read more

I love their Chai frost with whipped cream... Having said that, it's a cozy coffeehouse with dim lighting, and a warm atmosphere. Hey if you really want to get cozier then bring a pillow and a blanket. :) The service is quick which is good, and fun to watch. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Cheap and delicious coffee. The staff is amazing. There is no more to say. I'd rather pay 3 bucks for a phenomenal 16 oz cup of coffee and have a nice conversation with the staff, than pay 12 bucks for a mediocre cup of coffee and get shoved out of the way at Starbucks. I really want to find an awesome coffee house to call my own, but I don't think this is it. The tables and chairs are spartan and uncomfortable. The room is dark (although the patio looks quite nice). The Internet was spotty, and it took a long time to load something as simple as Gmail. They are very strict about no outside drinks, and would not allow my friend to have a Jamba Juice cup in the facility. But yay, the drinks are cheap, and I was able to get an Ameriano for less than $2. Can't beat that. So, this is a place I will quickly stop by if I need a drink, but I can't say I would ever spend much time there. read more

Loaded Tiramisu Mocha Frost...need I say more? First time visiting this coffee establishment. Starting with service - the gentleman behind the counter is one of the best multi-taskers I have ever seen! He was alone behind the counter, making multiple drinks at the same time, took the time to issue a warm greeting to everyone that walked through the doors, knew almost everyone by name and made it a point to ask them about their day. The prices were pretty equivalent to every other coffee stop i've been to, but the friendly atmosphere here will keep me coming back. read more

A coffee house gem! Several years ago, I met one of my good friends and he introduced me to CR. This was a typical place he would hang out and mingle with his friends, because literally everyone on this side of the Valley hung out here. Since time has passed I have continued to frequent (not as often as I used to, sadly) at coffee rush, sometimes staying there with friends and other times just stopping in for a quick cup'o'joe. The outside patio is probably my favorite place to hang out, especially when it's not the dead of summer in this oven of a state that we call home. The staff is friendly and are always joking around. I've never had a bad experience at this CR location. And it will probably continue to be a place that I visit. I love when coffee shops are independently owned and are still as busy, if not busier, than the corporate big wigs like Starbucks. And you definitely get that vibe at CR. read more

The drinks are really great here: the chai and mocha are my favorite, but they have quality coffee too. There's a big outdoor area that's usually occupied by smokers and sun bathers, and an equally large inside area for people that prefer to be surrounded by walls. They used to have free wifi, but now you have to get a code for the wifi when you get a drink beceause people were stealing the internet. Its still a great study spot, that's open late for people getting your late night study on. read more

Times like this genuinely make me wish there was a zero stars option. I just now had the absolute worst experience I've ever had any coffee or food service establishment and it was at this Coffee Rush. Specifically a horrific, petulant person who calls herself a manager. I went in with my girlfriend on Sunday, October 10th around 1:40 PM (15 minutes ago at time of writing). Working the counter were two employees I've never seen there before. One male with long hair, and one girl with dark hair and somewhat darker skin. I'm sad to say I did not get her name, but she was the only female working this shift when I went in. She called herself the manager on duty. My girlfriend ordered her drink, and instead of asking us what else we wanted there was a pause. The male employee then finally asked what else we wanted, and I told him I wanted my flavor of drink with an extra flavor, blended, loaded (2 extra espresso shots). He very quickly told the female employee/manager who was making the drinks "tiramisu frost!" Without any extra details. I even spoke up and said "loaded!" But was not heard, evidently. When we received our drinks, mine looked and tasted like nothing but sweetened milk. No espresso, no flavoring. So I went back in, expecting to have a straightforward and kind interaction and a remake of my drink. Instead, when I got to the counter and explained that I wanted a remake and began to explain why, the female employee cut me off in the middle of speaking and said "okay let's not go for his throat". I hadn't said anything aggressively, I genuinely was trying to take the time to explain what went wrong with my visit. This irritated me, so I asked that she not get an attitude and tried to say "I wasn't coming for anybody" but she absolutely would not let me speak. At all. After a few minutes of this I became exasperated, asked for the number to a manager, got met with "I AM the manager on duty!" and I took a business card and said I just wanted my drink. She took even more offense and said "and we're MAKING IT." I got the second drink, and she clearly was so focused on being mad at me that she, again, put next to zero flavor in my coffee. Only espresso. She then began apologizing to customers behind me as if I was the bad guy. This is the worst experience I've ever had in a place that serves coffee, food, really anything. This "manager" is a terrible excuse for what she calls herself, and a horrible representation of the Coffee Rush brand. If this is how they allow their managers to behave, I will never be patronizing them again at any location. And I will still be calling the actual manager. (She tried deterring me by saying I wouldn't be able to get through to anybody.) Just a god-awful experience all around. read more

I decided to check this place out today for a change of scenery from the Starbucks I usually frequent. Hoping for a nice change, I received a slap in the face. The staff was fake-y nice, and rude-ish at the same time. There were 2 guys behind the register/bar both talking to me at the same time which was a little unnerving as I was there to relax and all it did was stress me out. I was trying to ask questions and was being constantly interrupted and cut off. I did manage to at one point tell them I had not been there before. The guy at the register gave me crap for wanting to use my debit card because I purchased under $5 and did not have cash on me. He explained that the coffee shop gets charged 70 cents for each transaction so they have a $3.99 limit for using a debit card. Although this "one time only" he would run my card. I don't see why he needed to explain that to me. It is not my business what the credit card company charges them per swipe. Why don't they just have a sign, $3.99 and under - Cash Only Please. That would be more effective and also more professional. It would allow the customer to ASK why instead of having a forced guilt trip. Both people behind the counter were very rude. The only thing good was the coffee. I got an Americano with half and half (they don't carry heavy cream), with a shot of hazelnut. Not too bad. The seating area I was in smelled like old pee. It was awful. Seriously it almost was burning my eyes. I ended up moving and the smell followed me..... I actually had to spray myself with perfume while sitting there just to distract myself from the stench before I just decided to leave. I looked around and everyone around me was very clean cut so I know it was not them. I almost left because of the smell alone. it could have been a coincidence, but I was still not happy about it. Also, the smell of Pine Sol was a little heavy. Back to Starbucks I go...... Absolutely appalled by the way a group of my friends were treated here. Only about half the group ordered drinks so they were essentially asked to leave. They were only there because my wife and I recommended it, since it has been our go-to spot for meeting with friends since we discovered it. Now I am utterly embarrassed that I set them up to be disrespected like that. The Only gripe I have is the WiFi sucks here. They give you a 3 hour ticket but don't expect much. So this place is a treat if I am in east valley. Lots of seating and you have a shot at a electrical plug! It is clean and temp felt good. I hate places that make you shiver from the AC. There is a nice patio too. The drinks are perfect. I asked how many shots of espresso in a 32 ounce iced drinks he said by default 4!!! I feel that is more than fair and he mentioned he can do whatever I want. The guy there was alone. But he multi tasked and got the drinks out fast. I worked in a shop years ago and I know often speed means skipping or missing steps. He nailed it. I really like Coffee Rush. They have a really clean interior and lots of syrups (Torani brand) to choose from when getting drinks! The menu is quite lengthy, so check it over if it's your first time there. Take your time -- there's lots to choose from. The baristas are seriously kind and helpful too, which is really nice if you're having trouble deciding on what to order. Coffee Rush is usually well-staffed with awesome people, and they're talented at remembering the regulars and their drinks. I've only been a few times and they remember my almond milk coconut chai. They do have coconut milk too I believe for nut-free folks. They have a good selection of teas too. This is 4 stars instead of 5, because the wifi expires after 3 hours. They give you a code on a second receipt to log into the wifi network. Sometimes I just don't want to get up in the middle of work to get a new code. And sometimes I'm in the middle of a Skype call and it'll kick off without warning because I've lost track of time. If you're only grabbing coffee or just going for a little bit, (or don't mind a new code every 3 hours), I say go there now! They're open late which is awesome for night owls too! read more

Not sure where to start. Walked in ordered a Venti Sugar Free Vanilla Breve Latte. Mistake. Smart azz barista says they don't have that. Oh ... I'm sorry that is your competitor. So i say 20 oz. I also pointed out that in Seattle (where we have tons of custom roasters) use tall, grande and venti .. The barista replied I am American. I might point out Venti means 20 which may be why it is so common. I notice in Az coffee shops do not use the common terms used by most roasters in Seattle. So i am not sure if he thought i was mexican or what. I was way to shocked to say anything. But reading the other posts (including one about a racist joke) i think the rating is justified based on service at the counter. As for the drink. I don't like Starbucks .. it is burnt, but i would say that the coffee i got was the worst i have ever had. Oh for those who say free wifi. Sorry if you have to buy a drink it is not free. I drove by this coffee place for weeks, and I finally decided to go there one night to finish up some work on my lap top accompanied by a cup of coffee. I have mixed feelings about this place. Yes, it's not a huge chain like Starbucks, and the staff are super friendly... but I felt kind of out of place. I walked in in jeans and a t-shirt, my hair just in a pony tail, and as I looked around at the other patrons and the staff, I felt immediately as if I should have done my hair and put on a trendy shirt. This is a great place for younger folks and the college crowd, as that is the majority of the customers demographic. It seems like they would have been more welcoming, but I guess the atmosphere is different here. (For example, places like this in Minneapolis, where I'm from, are welcoming of everyone). The coffee, however, is fantastic, and I would take it over Starbucks any day. I was disappointed to find that the internet requires a passcode (that you can acquire from the barista) and has a two hour limit. Bummer! At the time I visited this cafe, I didn't have internet at home, and had to to the vast majority of my work at coffee shops with internet access. I would stay in coffee shops upwards of 6 hours sometimes. Going to get a new access code is tedious and unwelcoming. The patio is super awesome, and a cool place to hang out with a group of friends. It has a nice vibe and the lighting is nice, but it almost seemed a little too narrow minded for me. read more

My husband and I moved to AZ from Seattle so we are pretty much always on the hunt for a good cup of coffee. Coffee Rush is the best spot we've found in the east valley. My husband's go to is the americano, and mine is the caramel macchiato...their chai is also amazing when I don't want the full caffeine rush. The fresh baklava is delicious! I love this place! I just started using the WiFi, to finish some work without the kids bugging me. If I come here, I'm buying a drink anyways, but I've never had a problem getting another WiFi ticket if I run out of time. They have outlets like every 6-7 feet, so you can almost always find a seat close enough to plug in your computer. The owners know you buy name and if there's a long line, by the time you reach the counter, your drink is waiting for you. Yeah... they remember what everyone orders. What is there NOT to say about this place? If you're not getting coffee here, you should be! Our family has been coming here for 3 years and we won't stop anytime soon. The prices are far more reasonable than generic chains and they even do a buy 10, get 1 free punch card (two punches per drink on Mondays). The staff is friendly and remembers you as well as your order. It's primarily run by one family but even the outside employees are just as courteous as the owners. The inside could use some decorating help but if you're here you'll want to use the patio anyway. This is one of three locations too so they're definitely popular and trying to branch out. If you stop by I recommend the caramel rush frost made with ghiradelli caramel flavoring. Beats a frap from Starbucks any day! read more

I had a small iced mocha, which although it only comes with one shot, he willingly threw in the other shot for free. My boyfriend got a small iced coffee (which already comes with three shots - a great deal)! He was offered the 4th shot for free, which when my boyfriend turned it down, the barista offered to put in my drink! So in essence, we got two small 3-shot coffees for just over $5! What a steal. I met a friend here on a lazy Monday morning. I'd driven by for years and just hadn't stopped in so we'd thought we'd try it. I had an iced vanilla latte, she had a mocha frost.Very, very good coffee, smooth and rich. The barista's were very nice and made us feel welcomed, even suggested different drinks since we were 1st timers. They also gave us their Punch Card so after so many purchases you get a free drink. Inside is much larger than it looks from the outside with many places to sit but the outdoor patio with fountains was a hit with us. We will definitely return. Thanks Coffee Rush!
