Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is a franchise, so locally owned by individual owners. If you are one to support local or just want a good cup of coffee, would definitely recommend checking them out! I have celiac disease so I can't eat anything that was on the menu, but I do like that they offer something for those who might want something to eat with their drink. So we chose to go here on the way to accomplish some errands and well, it was disappointing. The Schtick is supposedly Turkish Style Coffee with Yemeni beans? Are they actually getting coffee beans out of Yemen right now? The menu didn't really feature Turkish Style Coffee as the forward offering. The employees were not rude or anything, but they, they were slow at making coffee. They also didn't know how to make coffee either. Pulling and espresso shot is easy, pouring a latte is not. and Moka & Co brewed a Cortado that was clearly just an espresso shot with some steamed milk glopped on top...which I've had that happen before at places that only have paper cups. BUT if you care about brewing coffee, you will pour a microfoam head in paper just as you would in ceramic. What's worse is that the coffee just tasted like dirt, if this is Yemeni coffee, it's bad. Seemed like there was potential here, but it was a waste of a morning when there are so many great coffee places in the core, we just need more of them in the East Valley. Came into Coffee Rush this morning between about 10:00 and 10:55 and ordered an Americano. When I…read moregot it, I made a passing comment about how much ice was in the cup. I wasn't asking for a remake or a refund. I'm just a vocal person and I say what I notice. Instead of letting it go, the woman at the counter got defensive and kept going back and forth with me. I told them it was just a simple comment and that it was all good, but they kept needing to have the last word. When I said I didn't understand why they were talking back like that, the male employee with glasses started staring me down. At that point I called a friend and told him we should meet somewhere else. As I was packing up to leave, that same employee said something on my way out that clearly wasn't a friendly goodbye. It was meant to get a reaction. I'll own that I didn't stay calm and I said some things back, but I never should have been put in that position over a comment about ice. After I left, I reached out to complain about how I was treated and never heard back. That honestly says more than the interaction itself. This was never about the ice. It was about staff getting defensive, staring a customer down, and trying to provoke him on the way out over a casual comment. I'm not looking for a refund or an apology. I just won't be back, and I'll be telling the people I know to go elsewhere.

My husband really enjoyed his caramel vanilla latte, and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her Americano. It's always a win when everyone loves their drinks! We'll definitely be back for another buzz.
