We came in around 12:30. It was pretty chill. A few guests outside enjoying the September weather and a couple guests inside. We checked out the food cases and found what we wanted. In my last review I had the keto quiche. It was a little overwhelming for me. The Mediterranean quiche was suggested so of course I had to try it. And it looked good in the food case. We were instantly greeted by a bunch a happy faces. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant for my husband. My Mediterranean quiche was ordered. I snagged a small iced cinnamon honey dirty chai with almond milk and a huckleberry lemonade for the husband. I believe everything we got is going to be so good! The ham and cheese croissant looked mighty tasty! It was nicely heated. You can tell it was nice and hot cause the ham and cheese was starting to slide out of the croissant. Husband smashed the whole thing and I wasn't even offered a bite. My quiche had beautiful pieces of zucchini and cheese on top. I really enjoyed the sun dried tomatoes in it. The filling was fluffy and soft. It was a great suggestion from the manager! I might have them heat it up just a hair longer next time, it could have been warmer. The huckleberry lemonade was killer!! It was tart, sweet and bubbly. I was only allowed one sip and I made sure it was big! My first round of chai did not look like normal and it didn't taste good. It was so dark and bitter. I did ask the barista if there was chai in my drink cause it didn't taste like chai. After we got it figured out, a new drink was made. My first one was not what I had ordered, I don't know what it was. My second round was almost perfect. The honey cinnamon chai was so good! It was sweet and spicy. I love the added cinnamon in there. It tastes like it should be cold and holiday season outside. I did pay for a shot of espresso to make it dirty which I never got. It was almost a cup of perfection. I really enjoyed our little coffee date here today. The food was good. Our drinks were tasty. The staff was nice. And it's conveniently down the road from us. I'm happy we stopped in today for our Sunday goodies. I look forward to another round of food and drinks from this joint.

They have a huge table that can seat multiple people which I thought was really cool. I ordered the chocolate croissant and the mocha. The croissant was chocolatey and warm. I got the dark mocha which was also very tasty! Wifey got the raspberry croissant and raspberry soy matcha. Overall, I enjoyed the pastries and the coffee. The shop was also very cozy. I was told that they don't serve apple fritters. So, now I'm confused to whether they do or don't sell fritters. She did tell me that they have apple bear claws and an apple bread available. I asked if a bear claw could be set aside for me. With it being Saturday morning, I wanted to guarantee a bear claw after I got off work. I wanted to take one home to my husband since I promised him one. I headed in around 9:30. It was chill so I probably could have just snagged one but I wanted it to be a guarantee. The gal behind the counter grabbed my bear claw. Paid for it and made me way out. On my way to the car, I couldn't help but be baffled to how light the box was. I got into my car and opened the box up. Bro, to call this pastry in this to go box a bear claw has to be a joke. A bear claw to me is big, palm size. Multiple people handling a big claw size. I was so disappointed at how tiny this bear claw was. Honestly, to have it be called bear claw is criminal work. And to have it be pushing 5 bucks is criminal work too. Don't get me wrong, the bear claw was decent. It was frosted. The pastry portion of it was soft and buttery. There was apple but very subtle. The size of it is comparable to street taco but fluffier. To compare a bear claw to a street taco is just insane to me.

Inside is very spacious but I thought the seats were not that spread out. Workers were nice at the time of my visit. Very casual place, good place for doing homework or even working remotely. They have wifi for their customers. I got their oat pistachio matcha latte and their spicy breakfast burrito. Both were good and something that I wouldn't mind having every now and then. I did work for their Edward's location in 2000. One of the funnest jobs I had as a teenager coming out into the world. Core memories were made from my co workers, guests and the responsibilities I was given at such a young age. But with time, other coffee joints have opened and your curiosity takes over. You hit up those other coffee shops or stay within your area for convenience. You forget the root of what started your love for coffee. I drive by this Moxie Java a few times a week and it always brings back memories. So, today I made the decision to go in! I have yet to have coffee at this location but with that logo on their store front, you know you're going to get a great cup of coffee. This venue is big. I love the outside patio with the awning. Inside is cozy with the fireplace going. Plenty of seating for coffee and conversations. Comfy chairs by the fireplace. I adore all the local pictures of Downtown Boise. You can spend a good amount of time here enjoying your drink. A sweet gal behind the counter greeted me. I appreciate that they have a convenient syrup list available so you don't have to ask the barista what kind of options you have. One thing about Movie Java that I love is the ample amount of options of syrups. Their sugar free options is one of the best in town. I really wanted a Milky Way but I'm watching my sugar intake. I got an iced sugar free chocolate and caramel breve. I know it won't be the same but a decent alternative. I'm just happy that they even have sugar free chocolate as an option. A flavor 95% of these other coffee joints don't have. My breve was tasty. I did have to add a packet of sweetner to it. It was almost there in sweetness, it just needed an extra push. The espresso wasn't overly strong. The half and half was creamy. It was all balanced and so good! I sipped on it for a bit in front of the fireplace. It was nice to start my Friday off on such a good note. Moxie Java will always have a soft spot in my heart. It's part of my youth. I have so many fond memories from past coffee shops. ACCESSIBILITY: Level in from sidewalk into shop, ample floor space, loo has accessible signage (although I've never tried it), path of travel to deck space is accessible. No accessible street parking in the area so that is a challenge. There is one ADA compliant spot in the lot behind the building that is the mechanic garage's but is usable. We ordered two lattes and two americanos and had very different experiences. The latte drinkers loved their coffee whilst my husband and I (the americano drinkers) felt that the coffee was average. I tasted some faint cherry notes at the end but it was not very complex at all. If it were based on my husband and I's experience alone I would rate it three stars but giving it a four star because our latte drinkers kept raving about it!

I adore the creativity they put into the shelf. The back wall is a stunning painting of a coffee plant. Whoever painted that wall did a fantastic job! My coffee looked dark and rich before I added my half and half. I knew that drink was going to be strong and flavorful! The espresso wasn't watered down at all. I added my half and half and a packet of sweetener. Taking one sip of my drink jolted me. You can taste the bitterness of the coffee. But it also had the right amount of sugar free vanilla in it as well. With the cream and sweetener, it was absolutely a great cup of coffee! I never caught the barista's name but she was super sweet. We talked about my transplant and my recovery from it. She was engaged and genuine. I appreciate that she was real and honestly involved in our conversation. It wasn't generic small talk.
