Kinda meh. They don't seem to have any specialty drinks, which always seems odd for a coffee shop. Lack of specials makes it kinda boring because there's so much room for creativity, especially in the fall season. I got a mocha and chai, as well as a couple breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches are assembled ahead of time and warmed up on a panini press. I got an egg muffin sandwich and it wasn't bad, but possibly a bit overpriced. It seems like a well-liked place. There were half a dozen people working on their laptops when I was here. Parking is street only, on Irving Park or the side streets.

English Muffin with Egg & Italian Sausage

Stopped in to this very busy neighborhood spot on Irving Park. Staff of three were handling the morning rush with smiles. Griddled Italian sausage egg and cheese on an English muffin was hot tasty and reasonably priced. Got a dark roast drip coffee from Uganda that was great. Parking can be tough at peak times and it is a cashless operation. Nice spot I'll be back.

Sandwich reveal (ham and cheese)

Was at work and wanted to get a coffee and so I thought I walk down there is a coffee shop in the building I work. But it was closed. No coffee shop in 15 min walk around that building so what to do. I got over to Grubhub and for the first time I ordered coffee via them. And it was coffee joint - I also ordered a ham and Swiss toast on a multigrain bread. That was so delicious - the delivery with GH was way faster then I thought and the sandwich tasted great. So good that today I will start my day with a coffee and a sandwich from coffee joint.

I grabbed a quick lunch here during my lunch break. The decor is classic modern coffee shop, with a comfortable atmosphere that would be great for working. The staff were friendly and quick in making my sandwich. I do think that the food is overpriced for what you are getting ($12.50 before tax for a standard sandwich), although it was good. I am interested in trying a drink here in the future.

Amazing s'mores coffee (not sure that was the exact name)

This is a great neighborhood spot! With limited hours it's hard to get to stop in but it is so good when I can get there. I dream about these drinks!

This coffee shop is a gem in the neighborhood. I'm visiting from the PNW so I love a good and flavorful strong cup of coffee. The ambiance and amazing customer service is what has made me come back 3 times out of the 4 days I'm staying here. I also ordered food and it was delicious. I wish there was a place like this where I live because I would go there to get some work done and enjoy my day.

Toasted marshmallow latte. AMAZING

Another 5 star Chicago coffee joint. Loved this little shop. I had a toasted marshmallow latte that was Amaaaazing . Some seating available but not too much so get there early on a weekend to snag a table. Neighborhood gem. I'll be back for sure.

Cold Brew

I was in town visiting a friend and stopped here for a quick coffee. It was in October and the coffee shop was decked out in Halloween decor. It has great branding and a neat atmosphere. The staff was also nice. This is probably one of my favorite cold brews I've had. It was not bitter at all and had a great, full flavor. Definitely coming back!

Walked in to see if I liked their espresso beans for home brewing. I got an iced latte w oat milk and light honey and it was bomb! Strong enough for home espresso I think but not overwhelming. For a free drip coffee for buying a bag. Staff was sweet. Will come back!

I only stopped into this bakery because its name happened to match the last name of a friend…read morevisiting from out of town -- we figured it would make for a fun photo. But once we walked inside, the whole vibe changed. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They were genuinely friendly, patient, and happy to answer every question we had about the pastries and baked goods on display. What started as a quick photo op turned into actually buying several items... and every single one of them was worth it. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It ended up being one of those unexpected little finds that you're glad you stumbled into. I'd absolutely come back -- this place is more than just a cute name.

What a great bakery to have around in the neighborhood! You can tell this bakery has heart and soul…read morethat shows up in their baked goods. I wasn't planning a huge order and was in the mood for a sweet treat, so I stopped by Lutz to see what they had to offer. Getting to the bakery is accessible and there is a decent amount of space. There were quite a few baked goods to try, but I was determined to have a cupcake and I was pleased with the variety. I went with the raspberry lemon and the red velvet cupcakes and both were great. You can taste the difference in the cupcake batter and frosting that isn't from a big-box bakery. You also get a nice little frosting treat inside the cupcake! The prices were decent given the sizes and ordering was easy. If I'm thinking about a custom order, I'll definitely check out Lutz. Otherwise, I've found a place for a quick way to tend to my sweet tooth!

Desserts are life! And Verzenay is the lifeline…read more My love for flaky pastries and aesthetic desserts led me to find Verzenay. I always look for a patisserie whenever visiting a new city, and after scouring for hours, nothing in Chicago really caught my eye except for Verzenay. Other spots had basic desserts, but Verzenay had a wide selection of interesting dessert flavors along with coffee, teas and a brunch menu. Royale 5/5* Very similar to the Opera cake, but with hazelnut instead of coffee buttercream. This was so decadent. The feuilletine was crisp, delicate, and buttery and perfectly balanced out the creaminess of the hazelnut praline and chocolate. Pistachio Escargot 5/5* So flaky and crispy. The lamination on this pastry is unreal. So many layers. Desi Valour 4/5* Wow you can really taste the cardamom. It was an interesting mix of flavors. The carrots were so caramelized it was almost like a fruit chutney. You would never have known it was carrots. Saffron rice crisp at the bottom was really hard to cute through with a plastic knife, but Passionfruit Ricotta Cake Slice 4/5* Eaten immediately at the cafe, it was cold and so refreshing, light, and perfect summer flavors. The passion fruit was tart, and Butterbean smooth, fluffy, and not overwhelmingly sweet. When eaten later though, it somehow tasted way too sweet. There is a reason Verzenay is rated so high. Beautiful presentation, decadent flavors, and perfect indulgence on a nice sunny afternoon.

We came for lunch and enjoyed their mushroom and gruyere grilled cheese. Perfect! Lots of gooey cheese and the mushrooms were full of flavor. Not leave without any sweets, we tried both the eclair and Paris-Brest. The Paris-Brest is the way to go and well worth the price. It is quite large, full of light and fluffy hazelnut cream. Do get! Service was excellent - our food was prompt and the cashier was extremely friendly.
