I think location is great, once in a while you might be there when they have some live music which is really nice too. Staff is just ok which is why the review is a 3. I personally believe customer service is HUGE and sometimes when I'm here I just don't feel they care. I also find it interesting how they charge for whip cream, then later never have any and tell me after the fact they don't have whip cream. This literally happen to me on 3 separate occasions. I was not too happy. You are a coffee shop, you should always have whip cream! And, know your inventory. If you don't have it, either make some or let your customers know before you ring them up and charge them extra for it. But, don't judge this place too much on my review because most people love the ambiance and find it a wonderful coffee shop. I am just very picky and have my expectations. read more

We've been coming here ever since we moved to Encinitas. Staff is always friendly and the vibe is chill. A fair share of spandex clad bikers stop in too but all are welcome. It's a chill local place with great "grinds". Get the dawn patrol but do avo and bacon. read more

Stopped in with a friend on a whim. Staff was nice. I had the matcha tea and my friend had regular coffee. My tea was good and very strong. Similar to other reviewers feelings, I really want to love this shop. I thought the coffee was solid, but I am spoiled by lofty. I know it sounds dumb, but I was expecting some cool foam art in my latte, and nothing. The place has a cool laid back vibe, it just wasn't so laid back when I went this morning. I guess I kind of wanted my experience in this coffee shop to be peaceful, and calm, and there were about 12 screaming crying kids that kind of ruined that haha. This place gets 5 stars for a few reasons. Most importantly, they CARE about coffee. My in-laws and I were on a road trip recently. They actually met the roasters sitting on the plane and insisted that we all visit their shop. They roast their own beans and will happily explain the process to anyone who is willing to listen. After speaking with them for a while about how I am trying to do some home-roasting of my own, they actually gave me a sample of their green un-roasted beans on the house. The service was great, and of course, the taste and quality of the coffee demonstrated their understanding and love for the art of coffee. Really delicious coffee, great lattes ,free wifi, and they even get their coffee beans fresh from a local roaster, Revolution Roasters, who rents space inside to roast. I've had their egg bagel sandwiches, acai bowls, and they have a delicious case of pastries from an Encinitas French bakery--the almond croissants are awesome :) Coffee coffee has a great shaded patio out front, and sometimes on the weekend mornings they have live music. Doggies are welcome on the patio too. Overall great place to spend a lazy weekend morning. read more

I've been to this place a few times, have always enjoyed the environment and good coffee. Yesterday I was having coffee when the manager came and started hassling a client. The customer was on his laptop, drinking coffee and minding his own business. The owner literally got in the customers face and told him to leave or he'd call the police. The customer was polite and courteous, yet packed up and left. The customer and everyone in the place were horrified! Not sure what the problem is but there are other options for coffee in Encinitas where management doesn't wash dirty laundry in the middle of the store. It was awful and embarrassing for everyone there except the owner/manager. Never going back. read more

Bacon seasoned and baked to perfection. Bagel and cream cheese was delicious. Eggs were scrambled in an unfamiliar manner. It seemed like a mix between egg white and regular scramble. Less yolk than normal, but still some there. The caramel latte was delicious, yet smoky tasting. read more

I stop in here once a week for the Dawn Patrol breakfast sandwich and a coffee. Dawn Patrol = english muffin, turkey, egg, tomato, cheese. Its a great sandwich made with quality ingredients. Their coffee is the same, great quality. The place is kind of big for a coffee shop. They have local artists featuring on the walls and other nifty creations about. This is such a great coastal coffee hang out! It's connected to surfy surfy surf shop but I haven't really checked out that side of the house. At the coffee shop there's a variety of seating either along the bar where they roast coffee or small tables inside or patio outside. There's a nice tree and other landscaping surrounding the patio... It kind of breaks up the fact that you're right on 101 highway. They have some amazing food as well, but today I wanted to tell you about the iced chai latte. It's great! I substituted whole milk for almond milk and I enjoyed it just the same. There's a heat wave coming, and an iced drink is really what you're going to need this weekend! Whatever you get, you're not going to go wrong. I love this place, they have great little patio so on nice days you can sit outside. Sometimes we actually go and work there for awhile, nice change of pace. The smell of fresh coffee brewing is wonderful. They have a nice selection of pastries to go with your coffee or tea. They also have a great little menu. We love the IPE Scramble for breakfast, and the IPE Chef Salad for lunch. We have enjoyed everything we have tried there. The service is always good and friendly. They also sell coffee beans there besides making a cup of coffee. They roast their own coffee and have a variety to choose from. read more

This little coffee place is very hidden! I posted a photo of the entrance because as you can see, "Revolution Roasters" and their address was nowhere to be found. It's next to a surf shop called "Surfy, Surfy", and a few doors south of "papagayo" restaurant. It's a good sized place with shady outside tables, a very pleasant spot to have some coffee and chat. Of course, the coffee is great! I had an americano, wasn't bitter and it was pleasantly strong. I didn't have time to purchase some coffee beans, but I will go back to try their Oaxacan and the Guatemalan, which are usually my favorite beans. The staff was nice and our coffees came out immediately, maybe because we missed the rush hour. I hope they're successful! Their being so hidden and not easy to find might be something they should consider fixing. read more

This coffeehouse roasts their own beans and takes time preparing each order. This is how coffee should be prepared. All three of us had something different. One of us had an Americano which was very well prepared. Another had a latte which had the right balance of milk to coffee allowing the espresso shot to push through the milk. This can be rare in a latte. The third person ordered an iced green tea. This was made properly in that the tea was brewed at the correct temperature, allowed to cool a bit, and then iced. She had to wait a bit while this was prepared therefore it was very tasty. It is important to note that my husband and I are admitted "coffee snobs." He roasts his own coffee beans, so we have fresh coffee everyday. We also brew coffee using most methods: pour over, clever dripper, siphon, cold brew, and using an espresso machine. Because we do all of this at home, we are often underwhelmed when we go out for coffee. This was not the case at Coffee Coffee. If you are in need of a good cup of coffee, stop here. You won't be disappointed. read more

I used to go to this coffee shop quite often and then in 2016 there was a short BROWN hair in my BLT sandwich. I complained to management and they came back at me and said there is no one at the shop that has brown hair. Well, it had to be someone that works there because it wasn't my own hair that was inside the sandwich, which they wrapped for my take out order. Jump forward to today, December 2017. I thought I should try this coffee shop one more time and order coffee instead of food. There was one person in front of me who ordered 2 latte's and I ordered a cold brew to go. There was 1 person making the drinks, 1 cashier, 1 food runner, and 3 people behind the counter just standing around watching the other people work. I had waited 20 minutes for my cold brew (mind you, all they have to do is get a cup, put ice in it, and fill it up with cold brew in the fridge). I stood there, watching each person as they wiped down the counter, refilled the cold brew pitchers, refill the cups, and bring food out to other customers. Tell me, why did it take so long for my coffee to be poured in a cup when you have employees doing NOTHING?? 20 minutes go by and my glass of cold brew was not even full!! I looked at my coffee with so much dissatisfaction and the barista knew he didn't give me a full glass of cold brew. I had to go back and ask the other barista to fill up my cup of cold brew to the top. If you ask me, coffee coffee needs new management, more efficient staff and better customer service. Be considerate/respectful and attentive to your customers, that's your job being in the customer service industry. read more

Cafe Ipe is a little cafe located in the surf-oriented city of Encinitas. They serve espresso, cappuccino, mocha, coffee, iced coffee, etc. They have coffee beans imported from all different places of the world and I'd say that all of the employees are very knowledgable and very passionate about their coffees and how to make them. Along with their selection of coffees they also serve very beautiful plates of food which can include omelets, sandwiches, pastries, and more! The place itself is beautifully decorated with local artists hanging on the walls, cafe style chairs and a huge bar. I assume a lot of people go there for the outside seating area where you'll find plenty of chairs and sometimes live music all surrounding a tree called an Ipe. read more

I loooove this place! The coffee and atmosphere are great. I usually get an iced coffee or a coconut chai tea latte, both are absolutely amazing. The space is great as it has a quiet indoor setting, perfect for studying or getting a little work done, or a more lively outdoor patio which is perfect for coffee dates. What a cup of coffee!! While on a "staycation" with my husband, we were ready for a great cup of coffee (or 2)- we decided to try this place out and we are so glad we did! We both had a basic cup of house brew coffee- holy goat was the brew of the day, and it was great! Rich tasting, almost creamy in texture. They offer sugar cubes, which I really enjoyed! I'm a cream and sugar kinda gal, but not too much of either- I love the taste of coffee, and you really get it there! Refills are a buck, and I feel, worth it.
