I have been here a numerous amount of times which have mostly been alright. I especially like the variety of Ube things they have to offer! However the staff is really not that friendly. I have gone here a decent amount of times and there have been so many times where they didn't have food. The location is very convenient to anyone who lives in Bayfarm. It's also very close to the water! When their food is available, the food is mediocre and which brings my review down. I wouldn't suggest bringing business here. read more

Coffee and Tea Traders - Ube Latte, Ube Horchata Latte, Ube Frappe - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Alameda, California

My Saturday weekly ritual is to come here and get a vietnamese iced coffee, maybe some breakfast, and walk around with my dog. I love it so much that I never fail to come weekly! I love it here (: the people are extremely kind and I can tell they really care about their customers happiness as well. I also really love the area! Like it's a great spot to start your weekend off right, take a stroll, maybe pick up some groceries at the Safeway. You gotta come here!! read more

I love the drink variety on their menu. I rarely see Pandan Matcha, so had to try it. The Pandan flavor is stronger than the matcha. It's really sweet if you prefer that. But, the Ube Matcha doesn't taste like Ube or matcha and loses its flavor and creates this new taste I can't describe. I'd try the Ube horchata instead of the Ube matcha . The barista was kind of rude and rushing us to order and I'm not sure if we were misunderstood or she wanted the next person immediately. I'd come back for the drinks though. Unfortunately, they were out of stock for waffles and mochi donuts though. read more

My husband and I are addicted to the Ube Latte and Pandan Latte. Anytime we're in town, we stop by. Strong and delicious coffee. They also have a variety of other fun drinks and food! Definitely a must try on your list, will not disappoint!!!! read more

This spot has been a fav for me and my friends for a couple of months now! We love the variety of drinks they have and how creative they are. My favorite is either the dalgona whipped vietnamese coffee or the rose dark oolong milk tea. They are so generous with the whipped coffee, I can add more milk when I get home and it's still good! My friends also get smores coffee smoothie and strawberry matcha latte often. They also have a variety of desserts like mochi donuts from Third Culture and savory foods like basic egg bacon breakfast sandwiches. This place is really popular for groups and there are some outdoor tables, chairs, and benches to enjoy the drinks while you're there. It's also located in a mini mall/outlet area so parking is free and there's plenty of it. Their specialty drinks are very good but I find their normal espresso coffees really light and lacking. Also they use paper straws which is great for the environment but also degrades really fast. I often ask for extra straws when I forget my own reusable straws. Maybe there are sturdier sustainable straws out there but I appreciate their choice for eco-friendliness. Also I hope they will expand on offering more savory food options or make some breakfast combos because it's the perfect one stop for coffee and breakfast! read more

Small, cozy cafè on Bay Farm. Stopped by here for an iced tea. Kind and friendly staff. Drinks were made well and were much refreshing. This place was pretty based, ignore the haters. 10/10 would recommend. read more

My sister and I came here on a Friday afternoon and by our luck it was empty when we walked in. I ordered the Nutella Latte (can only be ordered hot) with the bagel sandwich and my sister ordered the strawberry matcha latter and the Belgium waffle with Nutella and fresh fruits. First of all the drinks were great, whenever I order a specialty drink with something fun like Nutella, I don't really have high expectations and just expect it to taste like a latte. However with this one, it actually tasted like Nutella and it wasn't too strong which was nice. The strawberry matcha latte was great too! It was a nice balance of strawberry and matcha and I liked that each of the flavors were there and not overpowering. My sister thought it was a little sweet, but she thinks everything is sweet, so that's that. As for the bagel sandwich, we got a cheese bagel and it came with cheese, bacon, and egg and it was delicious and a nice balance with the sweet drinks! The waffle was so fire too! The employee's were not stingy with the Nutella and fruits and I love that. Overall, this place is now one of my favorite coffee places in my area and I will definitely be coming back. Also they gave us a free pastry with our $10+ purchase which was a nice surprise! read more

I was a disappointed with the service. My family and I stood in the business for 15 minutes as the clerk answered phones and went on about her business. She never acknowledged us. I realize she was by herself but a simple, "I'll be right with you" would've gone a long way. 15 minutes of standing around was a bit much. So we left. read more

I've never noticed this place until my sister started bringing home mochi donuts and asian flavored teas and coffees. I'm stuck at home with a needy newborn so I sent my dude to go pick up something for me to try. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte knowing he hates matcha. Then, curiosity got the better of him and he took a sip and surprisingly says, "Mmm!" I'm guessing he took a sip of all that yum yum strawberry syrup that sank to the bottom of the cup. In any case, this is the first place to ever get my boyfriend to drink matcha! read more

I was heading to the airport on a busy weekday morning when I stumbled upon this cute coffee and tea place. I appreciate how easy their website was to navigate making it easier to see all their yummy drinks and food choices before getting there. It also allowed me to place a order ahead of time which which right on time. The Vietnamese coffee with strawberry foam was an intriguing mixture. The sweetness of the strawberry would hit your tastebuds followed by the taste of the coffee. Their ham and cheese sandwich was okay but will probably try a different food item on my next trip. read more

I've been here a couple times so I can get some work done in the morning. Overall, this place is a good coffee shop and conveniently located in Bay Island so you don't have to go through all the traffic to get to the main island of Alameda. The shop is also located in a small lot with a safeway, CVS, subway, pizza place, and anytime fitness. The pro is that you can kill some grocery shopping with a cup of coffee in your hand! And THERE'S SO MUCH PARKING! If you go in the morning, there's many retired people that have their meetup and morning coffee together so it could get a little loud, but I think it's adorable. I'm only giving it three stars simply because I'm not a huge coffee drinker, so that leaves me with a very small amount of hot drinks to choose from - hot chocolate and a chai tea latte. They do have other basic teas (ie they give you hot water and the tea bag), however, I really could just stay home for that. They do have a limited amount of pastries and they run out fairly quickly of the good ones. Their milk options include: soy, almond, coconut, whole, no fat, and 2% (and it might've just been the day I was there but they get their milk from safeway right next door lol. I typically will get the vanilla chai tea latte and a morning bun. I specifically like their original morning bun more than the cinnamon kind (and ask for it warmed!). I do think their pretty pricey with their drinks and pastries, and they have a credit card minimum of $5 or you'll have to pay extra. read more

They have milk tea, hooray! When I'm lazy and don't want to go to the main island, I'm glad I found a place that does milk tea on Bay Farm Island. I restrained myself from including boba though... there was just one other review that suggested the boba may not be very good. I haven't been desperate for boba specifically yet, just the milk tea. So far I've tried the Rose Dark Oolong milk tea. Not sure if they meant roasted oolong... I don't think I taste any rose. A little pricey at $5.25 but I'm paying for convenience, plus a topping is included. read more

so good! the drinks will definitely wake you UP. Im glad i don't have to drive far to get good coffee now.

Best local coffee shop on Bay Farm! Great pastries from bay area places like Third Culture mochi donuts. They have unique flavors of classic coffee drinks with an Asian spin as well as the original versions. Make sure to take a pic in front of their photo op wall before you leave! read more

Great, creative coffee all the time and customer service! Such a gem in Alameda. Thank for you for all you do!

I have such mixed feelings about this place .. first time I ordered the UBE Affogatto, yes, presentation was nice, though it tasted Like chocolate milk, hard to believe it was any caffeine in there.. my husband ordered the strawberry dragonfruit refresher & he was so disappointed it tasted like just water, no flavor. We wanted his drink to be in the reusable carton, they charged us the full amount of the drink which was roughly a little over $5 + the carton $6! They told us the drink is only one size so we will lose 8 ounces of drink just to put it in the carton. For $12 I would expect some brains to have just told me they can put the rest on the side but no, they insisted they used less ice. I doubt taking away some ice will replenish 8 ounces of drink. We also came with our minds set on bagel breakfast sandwiches & got bacon breakfast sandwiches which comes on muffins & not bagels, she misheard us. The 2nd time I came I got the UBE Vietnamese coffee & it was pretty good, don't really have complaints for that one. Taste & Presentation was good. I would love this place more if I didn't have to debate whether my drink will be good based off looks or not, as you can see I had a hit & a miss. 3rd times a charm?? I'll be back to see. read more

Accepts Apple Pay and credit/debit cards but minimum purchase is $5. I understand there are fees, but this just seems like scheme to get the customer to add an extra item. The coffee is already expensive, why not offer the convenience of electronic payment for *everything*. read more

There are always so many people here. The tables are usually crowded with locals. I have also had a few meetings here with clients. Its not the best place to meet customers because its noisy and the lighting is bad but it works. There is a really cool mural that looks like a painting from one of my favorite artists, Maxfield Parrish. The other thing that I noticed was how impeccably clean everything is. The owner is constantly cleaning and organizing. I was impressed. The coffee was very good and they are always full of the accoutrement's to go with your coffee. In a pinch I will always come here for coffee. read more

March 7, 2022 around 2pm. Gal at counter gave attitude when we tried to order a white chocolate frappe without Ube. Instantly she rolled her eyes said NO white chocolate, Ube is not come with it and you don't need to mention it. Don't even give customer a chance to order something else from the menu...Pardon this is our first visit and not familiar with your menu items. And we like to help local business... Seems like they don't need our local help... I specific the time to hope store owner able to tell who's on duty. Maybe have her eyes checked by an optometrist! Your employee possible hope you don't get business or maybe she's the owner? Definitely not intend to visit again. Anyway, we went to Starbucks across from it and don't mind to spend $40+ for our family on specialty coffee and pastry. Good luck and hope you get treated properly with customer services. read more

There's BOBA HERE?? I tried it and although it wasn't special BUT it is different in the bay farm area. It's pretty tasty but next time no boba. The lady at the cashier was so nice and friendly. Wonderful customer service and coffee. Finally found a good place to just relax and get good coffee at. I will be coming back many times!

My kid loves their boba. I want to support this place especially now that a drive-thru Starbucks is across the street. Unfortunately, "popping in" to grab a "quick" cup of plain regular coffee and maybe a bagel can cost me 15 minutes, even when only one customer is in front of me. That happened again today and I don't get it. If I was ordering something elaborate that required cooking, ok, but I'm not. Dunno. read more

It's really amazing. Their matcha latte is so good with high quality matcha powder. Besides, their pastries a are so good and fresh.

Cute café in a beautiful location! They don't accept card, so make sure you have cash on you! I ordered their wheat bagel with cream cheese and was feeling like getting a smoothie! So I had their mango tea smoothie which was deeeelicious. It was pretty empty when my friend and I came in, so that was a little surprising. There was only one person taking orders and making them - probably the owner? He was super sweet. Overall: Pricing is pretty average for a coffee shop. There aren't many food options; just bagels and pastries that looked like they were sitting out for a bit. I highly recommend the smoothies! read more

It's been two years since I moved to Bayfarm and never knew. Took a break from work at home and checked out the shop. I got their Vietnamese Coffee Ube Latte drink. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese Coffee already and a fan of Ube. Loved it! Will be coming back. Love the Mochi snacks. read more

Love this local Alameda cafe for a casual breakfast or (much more often) fun grab and go caffeine and snack. :)

i've been trying to support this local business more instead of going to starbucks. their drinks are all tasty: we've tried the strawberry matcha latte, plain matcha latte, and the horchata frappe. their valentine's day chocolate strawberries are also delicious! i just wish their mochi donuts/bagels stock was larger so that they wouldn't run out so quickly by the time i get there, which is usually in the afternoons. read more

I was hoping for something wonderful under the new ownership. Experienced something less than even acceptable. Looks like the new owners just opened the doors up without even dusting, reorganizing, or considering what people really want in a small coffee shop. This could be such a nice asset to Bay Farm but instead it is a coffee stand with sub-par pastries brought in from a poor quality producer, few drink options, some half n half and a few stir sticks in a paper cup. The shop is dirty and dusty, has no options for recycling and compost at the front of the store where customers may use this, no food options such as perhaps yogurt or even boiled eggs, and is just tired and run down. The only plus under the new owner is they take credit cards now. Very strange that they would reopen in this condition. read more

PROS: The owner, Mike, is SO nice and friendly, always greets you with a smile. I appreciate the loyalty of the locals. Tables outside for enjoying the nice weather. Only place on Bay Farm to get a cup of coffee or tea. CONS: I love to support and promote locally owned and operated small businesses and I wish Mike would do the same. For example, how about providing baked good from a local bakery like Feel Good, rather than Costco. How about supporting Bay Area coffee roasters like Four Barrel, Ritual or Blue Bottle? Even offering Numi tea or Republic of Tea would be an awesome addition. Also, offering almond milk would be a nice addition for those who do not do dairy or soy. Thank you. read more

(I would have given *3.5* stars). DISCLAIMER: *The interior environment in here is definitely "old timey," at least when compared to hip or artsy coffee shops. If you are OK w/ that then this rating/review applies.* YAY: ------ + The drinks here are all around good. + So the service here is nice. + The interior is OK (pleasant though not exciting in any way). + Outdoor seating is always another added plus. *********** NAY: ------ - The primary criticism I have is that they CLOSE extremely very early (5:30pm). - In a pretty snooty area (which isn't their fault).... - Also as stated before, if you don't mind the conservative, calibrated-towards-older-folks vibe, this place is cool. (Though I personally am not crazy about that sort of decor). .................. *OVERALL I like this place, though it's not of the top places I'd first pick to go to. So, 3.5's accurate. :) read more

Wandered in here lookin for a quick caffeine fix. I wish I had read reviews before ordering because then I would have opted for the mocha everyone seems to love, but Instead I got plain ol' good coffee. Coffee was good, it's bad if a place can't just get coffee right. The man there who I think was the owner was very friendly and pleasant. A couple retired folks just hanging around there reading the paper n such. Sitting there sipping on my coffee I remembered how much I miss and love Alameda. It's such a nice quiet neighborhood and it felt so nice just soaking up the atmosphere. It's a good place to just unwind unlike hectic loud chain coffee shops. Hands down. Coffee and Tea Traders has the best MOCHA ever! Love this mom and pop coffee shop in Alameda! It is not commercialized like other coffee places. The service is wonderful. The staff and the owner warmly greet you at 8 in the morning! The high ceiling with skylight and the murals add uniqueness to the coffee shop.
