Family suggested this restaurant while we were in town and it did not disappoint. Soon as I saw the blueberry pancakes, I knew that I had to have them. I also went with (crispy) bacon and a side of potatoes that were delicious! The staff were very friendly and attentive. And of course, the views of La Jolla Cove were stunning
Great location, great place. Stopped by for brunch, and they had a great food selection without being overwhelmed. Service was nice and the food came out super quickly. Our table was always being taken care of The food was delicious. We had omelets, which were delicious and their pricing is very reasonable. Their location is perfect for seeing the ocean from afar and we had a great time. If you are in the area, try them out and share your experiences. Happy brunch time! Check the pics!
Date of Visit: 12.27.2025 Cuisine Type: American/Seafood Vibe: Nautical themed with amazing view over La Jolla Cost: ~$20-$30 depending on what you get This was a nice little discovery recommended by my parents who sometimes walk around La Jolla (very unexpected surprise). This place was ultra busy but we were fortunate to come during an off peak time (wait was still 35 minutes) What We Ordered: Cappuccino - 4/5 - I prefer cold brew but this was as expected milk and chocolatey with the hint of coffee. Cody's Burgers -4/5 - All the elements of a good burger (i simply don't like most burgers since it's just too messy to manage), the fries are double fried so it remains the nice crispiness despite being round wet ingredients Lobster Roll - 5/5- Massive...you have the tail and claws and a 1/2 a loaf of toasted brioche bread...it is honestly worth the cost Steak and Frites -4/5- Cooked well! The green sauce is creamy but I guess if we are doing sauce I prefer chimichurri French Toast -3/5- Everything is fresh on this plate. Not too sweet but I guess the french toast isn't that crispy but also I personally don't really like horchata egg toast Fish n Chips -5/5- The breading is done right...light enough so it creates crisp and not become its own entity when you take a bite. Also their cole slaw doesn't use typical ranch it feels like greek yogurt or something. I actually really appreciate the nod towards making things actually healthy Atmosphere: Clean, feels relatively private even though we were pretty much next to the main door, open bar concept in the center, and there is a deck further down the restaurant with more open air dining environment Service: Quick and friendly staff Ambiance: Fun, festive with sea decor, and great view of people and the coast Overall Thoughts: Best thing I ate: Lobster Roll Something to improve: Most things are pretty peak already. I think if anything make the french toast crispier and the burger easier to eat heh. See y'all again one day.
We've been here for a late brunch a couple times on the weekend and haven't had a wait for a table. Both times we were seated at the same booth. The frose is very good, especially on a warm day. My husband typically gets the lobster roll while I get a benedict. Both entrees are very good and filling. Service has been good as well. The servers are friendly, though there is sometimes a bit of a wait to get drinks and food when they are busy. Overall, a great spot for brunch. A little pricey, but that is expected with the area. Dog friendly as well.
I was quickly greeted, as I walked in. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the vibe was very festive. I didn't order much, just a soup which was delicious and a salad. My friend ordered tacos that she enjoyed. I have to say that the seasonal Mistletoe Margarita was very tasty. The first time they made it, it was too limey. They quickly apologized and remade it so deliciously!! I have come in here in the past, but at the other old location nearby. It's still considered one of my favorite restaurants here in la jolla. I hope Cody's is here to stay because it is such an asset to this community. Trust me on this!
Came here on a Saturday and was seated right away. I don't know what happened, but we had difficulty finding the entrance even when the rug stated the restaurant's name. LOL. It's on the second level so take the escalator or stairs to get to the entrance. Anyways, we ordered Crab Cake Benedict, Javi's French Toast, Crab and Corn Chowder. The Crab Cake Benedict was okay. There wasn't much crab flavor, and I wish there was more to this dish. The Javi's French Toast was decent. The bread was soft and tasted like how a regular bread would taste. It can be a bit heavy, so we ended up taking it home. The crab and corn chowder was the most disappointing. I love corn so I can't complain too much but it was also lacking crabs. Disappointed that we barely got any and wish it wouldn't been in larger chunks. Overall, I had better elsewhere but it was honestly just okay. The interior is very nice and relaxing. The server was attentive and stopped by often for water refills or additional assistance. Parking on the streets.
Cody's is not to be missed! My husband and I had a fantastic breakfast on our last day in La Jolla and we wished we discovered it sooner. The view and the decor are beautiful and our server Trevor and everyone working that morning made us feel really welcomed and cared for. I had the veggie hash with a side of sourdough toast and my husband had the French toast. Both were excellent and the complementary coffee refills were much appreciated. Looks like an awesome spot for happy hour too. Don't sleep on this place!
Loved the food , the staff, and the Holiday decorations! Very festive and fun. The view is the icing on the cake. We were there on a Saturday for lunch . We ordered fish and chips, and eggs Benedict. The fish was not greasy, the batter was crunchy , and not salty. The French fries were delicious. My friend told me she loved her eggs Benedict. The serving was big. The only down side is the difficulty to find a parking spot. Overall- we loved our experience at Cody's!
If you want a glimpse at the coast, this is a nice spot for it. Went with a large group and was seated right away, however there is a wait time about 30min if you wanted seats outside. Our server gave us a warm welcome, very friendly and was attentive to our order. Tried their latte, not as impressed, coffee was drowned out by the oatmilk, lacked a bit of sweetness. Tried some orders of my group: Bouillabaisse and fish was overcooked, blueberry pancake was OK, crab and corn chowder hit the spot, very flavorful. Fish n Chips portion is very generous, love the bonus onion rings served on top of it. Ordered their traditional eggs Benedict and it's 10/10!

BEST BRUNCH PLACE! The french toast is to die for. Get it with the berries! My partner and I really loved the crabcakes. These were probably the best crabcakes I ever had and definitely worth sharing with your friends. My partner got a burger and thought it was really good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff members are extremely nice. I would definitely come back here for brunch in the future! read more

OMGGGGG!! YES! YES YES! This place is a must!! I'm so happy we tried this Place. We sat outside and the views were everything. I loved the vibes in this place. Our server was even great. To start I ordered an espresso martini, which was top tier. For my entree I got the lobster roll and when I tell you it was HUGEEEE and packed with lobster meat. Honestly with all the hype this place gets I really expected more. We waited for about 15-20 min for a table which isn't anything. Once we were seated, we ordered the cold brew, the fish tacos, the corn/crab chowder, and the lobster roll. Starting with the service from our waiter: it wasn't that he was outright rude, but he came across as uninterested in us and overall seemed annoyed? Another thing, I'm Mexican, and maybe I should have known better than to order fish tacos at a place called Cody's, but I figured we're by the beach? Those had to be the worst fish tacos I've ever had. Rubios has better tacos. The batter was so greasy and heavy tasting, and it fell right off the fish. Not enough cream either. And sooo expensive! Then the sheer fact they paired it with beans? Never in my life have I had fish tacos with a side of beans. My husband had the lobster roll and he said it fell apart while eating it so he basically had to use a fork to eat it off his plate. Again for the price of everything, not worth it. It was very aesthetically pleasing but other than that, I can definitely see it's not for the locals. read more

We got the French toast, steak frites, eggs Benedict, and lobster roll. Portions were huge. Just incredible, highly recommend the French toast! The steak frites were topped with an amazing butter sauce and Lobster roll was nicely dressed. I would definitly come back here next time I'm visiting La Jolla. The outdoor rooftop seating had a good view of the ocean and the service was very attentive. Overall 10/10 experience. read more

From the moment you are greeted by a friendly smile by the host, the experience at Cody's is nothing shy of amazing. Paolo and Tyler - premier service and so very charming and personable. The food (especially the lobster roll) and the drinks, combined with the view overlooking the LaJolla cove (from a distance) brings me back to dine as often as possible. Kudo's to the entire staff at Cody's and many thanks for a great experience. We can't forget the chef's who are greatly responsible for Cody's success! read more

Let me first start by saying the ambiance was so aesthetically pleasing. As you walk in, you're welcomed to an open terrace waiting area. They have an indoor seating as well as balcony seating. We got there as soon as they opened so got a front row seat on balcony facing the Beach views. Our server Gabe was amazing and service was excellent! Recommended us some great foods & drinks! Started with an expresso martini & mango margarita. Probably one of the best places I've gotten good & strong drinks. As for food, we started with crab cakes and lobster corn soup. HANDS DOWN THE BEST CRAB CAKES EVER! It was literally perfected. As for the lobster corn soup, it had more of a corn flavor however it was still delicious. Entrees I got the chicken & biscuit. Was not a fan of the biscuit as it had a cheddar base, however the chicken and gravy were delicious! My husband got the crispy chicken sandwich and says it was phenomenal. Chicken was cooked perfectly, not too much batter and juicy. & to finish our sweet tooth craving, we got a half order of French toast & OH MY GOOOOODNES, IT WAS AMAZING! The bread was so soft & lightly battered & the cream was very light, yet flavorful. Overall, definitely a new favorite spot anytime we're back in La Jolla! read more

The view, the service, and the food was amazing. I split the chilaquiles and eggs Benedict with my friend which were amazing. However the pork was a huge slice but I prefer it to be smaller which is just a preference. I also had a cappuccino which was good. I do have to say that this place is very expensive. It makes sense since it is a rooftop place with a view. However, overall great place to get breakfast with friends and it was a lovely dining experience and a great area to go! read more

The atmosphere is very nice here especially on a sunny day with a breeze. The servers were kind and delivered our food about 15 minutes after ordering. The food in my opinion didn't match up to the price. I ordered the surf and turf benedict and the steak was ok, but the lobster was very dry. Even with the hollandaise sauce it was still pretty dry. It was a nice experience, but I wouldn't go back for the benedict. read more

Cody's was open early for breakfast on a Thursday, unlike Brockton Villa. It is upstairs off Prospect. They offer inside and outside seating. I had the French toast and really enjoyed it. The Marscapone butter was a key element. The guys enjoyed the Bloody Marys. Service was excellent! I only gave it 4 stars because of the higher prices. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast at Cody's. read more
Went to try out Cody's and had a good time. Went on a slower day so not too many people were around, but staff was very kind to let us sit by the ledge. It was a quiet morning, overall beautiful interior and fun option for a weekend brunch. My boyfriend and I got pretty simple plates, the blueberry pancakes and the All American Breakfast, and both came out great. I was not as happy with the hot chocolate, as it kept separating but not a big deal. Overall super cute spot and would love to try other dishes next time. read more

We had such a great experience at Cody's! The vibe is super relaxed and welcoming, with a perfect beachy feel that matches La Jolla. The staff was really friendly and attentive. We had ordered a French toast to share and he ended up comping us because he had forgotten to put the order in initially. The food was delicious -- everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We especially loved the crab cakes benedict and lobster roll, and the portions were generous. French toast is a must try! Potatoes were better than grits, but you can get half/half if you're curious. Definitely one of those spots where you can just kick back, enjoy amazing food, and soak in the San Diego atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

What a gem! I came across this place on yelp and boy did it live up to expectations! It was a slightly rainy day when I went so there wasn't much of a wait thankfully! But even if there is, La Jolla cove is right down the street. The view of La Jolla cove while having brunch is absolutely breathtaking! The inside was very cute too. Ugh I love this atmosphere of this restaurant still and this time I was seated right by the glass wall and the view was beautiful. I was not super impressed by the food this time around. I think maybe I've had my fair share of brunch restaurants and I just don't think the food here is the best. Not saying it's Not yummy but just not spectacular. I ordered the fish and chips and the crab cake benedict this time around. The fish was battered too thick in my opinion, I like a thin crisp coating on my fish. My crab cake benedict was room temp when it got to me which I think took away from its full potential but the crab cake was flavorful. read more

I stopped by Cody's today and tried their lobster roll with French fries and coleslaw. For $35.50 and with the claim of being one of the top five lobster rolls in California, I was honestly expecting more. The presentation was nice, and the bun looked great visually, but it was just too big and overpowered the lobster. The lobster itself was just okay; unfortunately, a few of the claw pieces were overcooked and tough, which took away from the experience. The coleslaw was fine, but had a taste that made me think it was made with yogurt instead of traditional mayo, not really my preference. Fries were good, but nothing that could save the overall dish. Not a bad meal, but not worth the hype or the price in my opinion. read more
Philip was an amazing server, it was raining so we had to sit at the bar but he made our experience very enjoyable and asked us right away what we would like to drink, I had never tried a Bloody Mary and although my friend was a fan I decided to change it to an espresso martini and it was AMAZING, espresso martinis are very hit or miss and this one was chefs kiss. This place was so great for brunch! My friends and I made a reservation mid December so the decorations were so adorable! We all ordered different dishes, the blueberry pancakes were tasty, and the chilaquiles dish was so flavorful! The drinks were ordered were nicely put together. We also could see La Jolla covered from part of the restaurant which was a great view. The servers were great at checking in on us during our meal. They were also fast to seat us and we thought it was a beautiful place to have brunch! read more

Coming here is always so nice and their breakfast is always yummy. I usually get French toast or and Omelette and both breakfast items are well made :) Though it is on the pricey side it totally makes sense since the view is so pretty from the outside and inside seating. Service is normal. read more

The best part about living in Sunny San Diego is the abundance of outdoor patio seating. Downtown La Jolla has a multitude of restaurants to fill any and all palates. Cody's in La Jolla has a great view perched on the second floor. Parking can be hit or miss with the bustling businesses and restaurants in the area. Lucky on this weekday a rare quietness filled the air and we had the patio all to ourself. No brunch is complete without some drinks the Cody's Bloody Mary and passion fruit martini hit every flavor note. The fresh fried calamari was perfectly breaded and so fresh. I loved the elongated fries shape in comparison to the typical rings at $19.50. The lunch fish and chips with a mountain of onion rings continues the perfectly battered fresh pacific cod at $27.50. Last, I am a sucker and must always try the eggs Benedict no matter where I am at. Last time I had the crab cake benny so this time I chose the traditional Benedict. This was much better than the crab back. The smoked pork loin was not one bit dry and seasoned to perfection. It absolutely was the star of the dish for $26.50. The server was super attentive and explained the menu and drinks so that we can make the best decision. You really can't deny the views of La Jolla, drinks and a great brunch which keeps us coming back even with the price spike yearly which we are hoping doesn't continue. read more

I'm visiting San Diego, and this place was recommended but I thought it was pretty overhyped. The best part is definitely the view and aesthetics, but I found the food to be disappointing. The menu prices are exorbitant and there was a decent wait, so I thought at least the portions would be large but they weren't! Out of the 3 dishes I tried, the french toast was probably my favorite, with the chicken/biscuit stack being the most disappointing. Our waiter was nice but got our order wrong and then charged us for the mistake as well. read more

Chilaquiles - (4/5) It wasn't perfect but it was decently good! Fish & Chips - (3/5) lacked flavor, fish wasn't as crispy as I expected Steak Frites - (5/5) flavorful, filling, yummy The service here was decent, and the staff was genuinely friendly throughout my visit. However, there was a slight hiccup as they initially forgot one of my dishes. On the upside, they added the missing item without much delay. In terms of the menu, I would say the prices were a bit on the higher side but there is a beautiful view within the outside seating. While I expected a certain level of quality to justify the cost, the food fell somewhere in the middle. It wasn't exceptional, but it certainly wasn't disappointing either. Came here on a Sunday around noon with a group of 6. Our wait time was about 45 minutes but we didn't mind and decided to take a quick stroll to the beach to pass time. Views are amazing. Servers were excellent. I ordered the veggie hash which was pretty bland to be honest. Once I added ketchup it was fine. I wish I would have tried the French toast! It looked so good. read more

Cody's is getting a 5 in my book because the food was great, service was quick and attentive, and the ambiance was vibey! We went on a Saturday morning around 10am and were seated out on the deck. I love the pink and green color scheme here, it's very beachy cute and a great vibe. I got the crab cake Benedict and it was.... wonderful. I LOVED it. My husband got the French toast and I tried a bite, also fabulous. Our food was out quick and it was fresh. Would love to go back next time we're in La Jolla! read more

They will be at 1025 Prospect St., Suite 210. I'm not sure when, though. Their Facebook site says "see you in the Spring" but no specific date. I walked by the new location today, and it's not ready yet.
Gluten free options?
They have eggs and fruit and breakfast meats. Their menu should go over more options for you.
Can they handle a group of 20?
Yeah, they have a huge patio that has a beautiful overlook of the Cove and a inside too. I would call them first before you go down there just be safe
