"Am I in the right place?" I wonder as I try to recall the yelp reviews that led me to this unassuming strip mall. Only one other table occupied when the two of us walk in... then we're greeted by an enthusiastic, knowledgeable gent (I'm so sorry, I don't remember your name! Paying in cash, I don't have the receipt to refresh my memory) who recommended the spinach cheese wontons and talks about the day's specials, one of which we split: chicken meatballs (with a surprise mozzarella middle) with penne and a vodka sauce. It smelled amazing arriving at the table and tasted wonderful! The portion was perfect to split with two a piece of each the meatballs, wontons, and bruscetta. The price was right too, with the apps being on their happy hour menu. I'm very happy to find a locally owned business to support. read more

I really dig this place. It's not a sports bar, it's not a lounge, it's kind of like a cafe that has decent eats (from what others have said) and a full bar. They have a couple of TVs but on the Saturday night my friend and I visited they were both on cooking shows, so it's super laid back and quiet enough that you can have a normal conversation without yelling. They have maybe 6 booths, a bar that seats maybe 8 and a handful of tables so it's not the biggest place in the world, but nestled in an unassuming strip mall it gets the job done for a good after dinner drink. From the outside decor and neighboring businesses you'd think this place would be a dump but it's not. Super clean and the bartender/waiter was very friendly and had good energy. Definitely recommended for the post-35 crowd looking to spend time with friends and catch up, not scream at each other and hookup. Hey that could be a marketing tag line. read more

Wow, YUM! This place was actually our back up plan and, thanks to Yelp, it was a home run! I would have NEVER stopped at this restaurant without Yelp because it's in a very nondescript strip mall. Being called "Cafe & Bar" is very misleading because this has the feel of a nicer Italian restaurant with lots of local art on the walls, nice ambiance, and it's cute and quaint. It's small so it feels very intimate. Our server was VERY friendly and attentive. Oh, and if you show them that you found them on Yelp, you get a free appetizer! The menu was a unique fusion of Italian with some of the dishes having an Asian twist, too. We had the mushroom potstickers and they were AWESOME! Their bread is also fantastic, too. Soft in the middle but just the right amount of chewiness in the crust. VERY good. We ordered the Cody's Pasta (spaghetti with meatballs and sausage). I would NEVER order pasta at a restaurant thinking why would I pay for something I could make (out of a jar) at home?! Thank GOD my friend wanted to order it and someone here on Yelp recommended it because it was AWESOME. Great flavor, perfectly cooked meatballs, and just YUMMY. If I could get that from a jar at home, I'd never leave the house again! We also tried the artichoke pasta with the pink vodka sauce. That was good, too, but really, I think I was so stuck on the other pasta I couldn't move on. The prices were about on par with Olive Garden (about $6 for the average appetizer and $12 for the average entree). They also had a lot of other unique dishes you just won't see on a chain restaurant's menu. I didn't even know where to start because I wanted to try it all! I wasn't excepting this place to be here. With the recommendation of the bartender at McDonough's Pub and was there. I decided to walk over to Cody's, which across a way and a very short way. Personal touches on there food and great and speedy service. I was surprise how fast everything got out. The server had great wine knowledge. I had gotten the soup and it was a tomato bisque, and it was the best I ever had. I over heard that all there seafood is fresh and delivered in on that morning; even though I ate on a Saturday and most deliveries on a Saturday. I got the spicy seafood spaghetti, I did not except to be so much, but I still finished it. They also had a great selection of tapas. The one thing that made me a scared were the bar stools at the bar. They did not have support in the middle, so I thought I was sinking through the stool. This was a bit off an odd duck. Located in a strip- and had decor that didn't quite fit the menu. We went for lunch and had the salmon pasta salad and the fish and chips. My salmon pasta salad was interesting... Five pieces of penne does not a pasta salad make. Though the pesto was tasty. The fish and chips were pretty decent. My issue was the service. Maybe it was because we arrived about an hour before midday closing, but she took the plate I was literally chewing over and didn't ask if we waned another round. All in all... Ok. A wonderful little place tucked in Aurora Colorado! This place is amazingly warm and welcoming! The service was impeccable and friendly. Could not have been more pleased with the service! The waitress was also able to recommend some signature dishes that we were not disappointed in at all! Things to try: lemon grass sausage pizza! Flavorful and delicious. You can really taste he seasonings and lemon grass in the sausage! Super fragrant. Also tried the ribeye fettuccine Alfredo! The ribeye was tender and flavorful and the sauce creamy and delicious. I had it for lunch the next day, and it was even better! (which I didn't think was possible...) Four of us went for 5280 week. It was a great menu. With four entree choices we could each try something different. The lamb was spectacular. Tender, cooked well, spiced nicely. The seafood lasagna had large pieces of lobster and crab. The béchamel sauce wasn't too heavy, for a béchamel. The ravioli was thin and the squash filling was smooth. The service was friendly and efficient. It was a little later in the evening and the chef came by our table. Even though this talented chef can cook me under the table we had a good time sharing ideas. This is a great neighborhood restaurant that is going to become a regular spot. UPDATED: There have been changes at one of my favorite restaurant and it is not for the better. The last two times we seen a decline. Mussels over cooked, pizza with soggy bottoms, over cooked fish, avocado that have oxidized all lead me to believe that I need to find a new neighborhood place. My husband and I are fairly new to the area and we have four kids....getting out for a date night is almost an act of Congress for us. We finally had a chance for a date last night and the hubs wanted Italian. So we headed down to the only Italian place that we knew of (and we both like), Maggianos. We got there and there was a 90 minute wait. We figured we'd head back to our neighborhood and turn to Yelp for some suggestions. Top of the list was Cody's. What's so crazy to us is that we drive by Cody's four times a weekend, dropping off and picking up our daughter who works at Lamar's Donuts in the same strip mall. We'd never even given Cody's a second glance. The place was PACKED when we arrived, but they had a small booth perfect for the two of us. Our server Lisa took care of us right away. Within minutes we had a bottle of wine and our water. We ordered the Spinach Cheese wontons, based on everyone's Yelp recommendations. They did not disappoint. Perfectly fired so that they were crispy, but not tough. My husband ordered the Lemongrass Sausage Penne and it was so good that he ate every bite of it. I had the Artichoke Penne with the vodka sauce and it was amazing. I read a few reviews about portions being small and I don't understand that. I'm a big gal with a big appetite and I couldn't eat but half of mine (of course, I was saving some room for tiramisu). Lisa boxed up my other half and brought out a HUGE beautiful piece of Tiramisu. I thought it was perfect. I thought my husband and I might come to blows over who got the last bite. The best part was when the bill came. $60!!??!!!. We had appetizer, main course, dessert and a bottle of wine for $60??? That never happens. We usually don't get to bring our kids with us to nicer places because of the cost, but the value here was so great that we're looking forward to introducing our kids to Cody's soon. Our server, Lisa, mentioned that Sue also runs the New Orient about two stores down which serves Vietnamese, We're looking forward to giving that a try soon as well. read more

I have had about ten items from Cody's menu, and let me tell you, everything was mouth watering. I love the food because it is a bold mix of comfortable and exotic foods that fill you up but don't make you feel heavy or greasy. The Sangria was the best I've ever had, and the service was so friendly and helpful. I love that there are TVs so we could watch the Rockies game, free Wi-Fi, and fun art on the walls. To top it off, there is a touch of community involvement with the purses on sale in the back, and professional roller derby photographs taken in Colorado! Sorry, I forgot the golden rule of Yelping: the camera eats first! It was so good and I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures. Everything here is so fresh and so delicious. I love coming to support these guys because they work really hard and really care about the food. You can tell what they create and what they serve really is their passion and an art and not just calories for sustenance. The cuisine is a mix of the original Cody's menu: French + Vietnamese and also the Italian menu from the old Bettola Bistro next door, which is owned by the same chef, but all got collapsed into one restaurant during COVID. When I hear the name Cody's, I used to think of like a Texas Roadhouse. The food is far from that, asian inspired dishes that are to die for. Tonight I had the spring rolls, chicken pho (honestly Cody's is my favorite in all of Denver Metro) and an item from Sue's specials. My sister and I headed to Cody's for dinner on a weekday night. This is a cozy little restaurant with a small bar area and trendy interior. I have to say I wasn't too impressed with the menu. I wish they had some entrees that weren't pasta. They do, however, have a good gluten-free section. For starters we ordered the goat cheese crostini with carmelized onions. It was very good, but we both agreed that it needed more cheese. As an entree I ordered the grilled chicken and angel hair and my sister ordered the fettucine alfredo with grilled chicken. First timer, have driven by this place a zillion times, and finally took the plunge. Quite surprised to see that it was small, not much bigger than a large living room; it seemed kinda cramped. No fault of theirs and the menu selection and food was good. We had the mussels and goat cheese crostini apps with eggplant and the lemongrass sausage penne as the main meals. No complaints. Some small concerns were that the menu did have a large selection but no fresh vegetables served with anything. I'd like to have seen a nice fish entre with a side of pasta and a fresh veggie. The service was good but there was only one guy (very good) waiting on everyone. I'm a fan of this small tucked away Italian Bistro tucked away in a small strip mall. Not sure it is worth four stars, maybe three and a half, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I think that when the owner visited our table to ask about everything and the very reasonable prices-that kicked it up a notch. read more

This was a pleasant little find for us in an odd neighborhood strip. A small group of us were looking for a new place to eat on a Tuesday night and we saw this was nearby and had some nice Yelp reviews. Gave it a try. We pulled up to a pretty deserted parking lot and saw the underwhleming sign for Cody's. As we walked up... the place was empty all but for ONE LONELY table! The other bar and restaurant and bar in the center was much busier. We went in anyways. The place was quite unassuming from the outside... yet inside although small, it packed a nice cozy neighborhood feel. The walls were covered with unique artwork (perhaps the owners is a collector), it felt like a little art gallery with little descriptions of the art. The chairs were a lot more upscale than the typical hole-in-the-wall bar. As for the menu... not overly packed, price was definitely a little higher than we expected considering the location and the fact that it's a "bar." But looking at the descriptions... it looked like the food was special. So our choices pretty much are: tapas, salad, pizza or pastas. We went with recommendations: crabcake tacos, mushroom potstickers, mussel provencal, lemongrass sausage penne and Cody Burger. The tapas (tacos, potsticker and mussels) were very good... but not amazing, I'm really picky because I make these things at home to my very liking. The penne was very interesting... it had a very strong Asian influence... strong taste of umami, even the sausage seemed Eastern because of the lemongrass. It was a nice dish. My husband loved it... I liked it, but felt it might have been a touch too salty. The burger was also very good, burger meat itself tastes perfectly fresh, came with Arugula... felt like a fancy restaurant burger. It comes with fries or veggie chips... SKIP THE FRIES! Veggie chips are AMAZING. They are similar to Terra Chips from the store, but made fresh and sliced much thinner... sprinkled with light sugar for a little sweetness. The chips are... Peru potatoes, Taro root, Lotus root (CRAZY) and other things. My true rating is more like a 3.5 stars, but the reason I gave it a 4 star is... service was great... our server was Sean, genuinely nice guy and very accommodating, and the food was of what you would probably find at a sophisticated downtown restaurant... but much less pretentious. Although there were some things that were not perfect, I left this place feeling pretty happy. Felt bad they didn't have much business, but the location pretty much sucks and it was Tuesday night. Also, it seemed like that might be experiencing new ownership or management... either way, wrote this review because I would love to see them grow more. Will definitely return to try some other things on their menu. Finally got to go here. Went on 1/2 price bottled wine night. That is a really good deal. The place was very busy and every table had a bottle of wine on it. Because they were very busy, all of our food took a very long time. They did give us a free dessert as an apology that all of our food took so long. So, there was that. Atmosphere. It's a cozy, updated venue and was comfortable. I would call their food American Italian Fusion. We had the Crab Cake Wrapped Sugar Cane. This was fun, and scrumptious, but not enough to share for 4 people. They did bring us a lot of warm, crusty bread and dip, so that worked fine for whetting our appetites. For entrees, my date an I shared the Lemongrass Sausage Penne. This was so good that we almost licked the bowl. Our friends had the Chicken Parmesan and said it was very good. For dessert we got the Tiramisu and the Bread Pudding. Both of these were classically made and delicious. Everything disappeared before I could take photos. That's a good thing. Cody's is a real treat. Located near Iliff and Parker, Cody's can be easy to miss on such a busy intersection. The second you walk in, you'll understand what I mean when I say that this place does not belong in a strip mall. The atmosphere is cool and relaxing and the entire place settles really well with the eyes. The owner, who also owns and operates New Orient a few doors down, offers a wide selection of foods from tacos to potstickers, pizza to bahn mi. The beers on tap are delightful as well. Included are two Dry Dock beers if I recall correctly. Overall a fantastic place to grab a quick lunch or slow down and enjoy a nice dinner with a date. read more

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and Sue made me a variety of meals while going through chemo. Her thoughtfulness and generosity are beyond belief. My boyfriend took me here and he said "it's a hidden gem." He was absolutely right, we only live 2 miles away and driven by it several times but never thought to sneak a peek.
