I have no idea how the ratings are so high. We ordered a Hainan Chicken here for the kid and it was rough. A quick search on google and the definition is silky cooked chicken with amazing aromatics etc..... A quick look at the picture and you can see it's just very basic cooked chicken with three sauces. Of which the soy sauce was actually spicy. We couldn't figure out why the kid was crying eating chicken with soy sauce. Also the wait for the food was very very long. My husband was having lunch here with a coworker so he picked up food for me as well so I can try . Service was really fast, they got the orders out within 10 minutes or less. The place itself is also really nice. They have renovated so it's more like a food hall rather than how it use to look. Parking is also plenty. Food: Duo crispy and boiled chicken and rice - rice was soft but just ok, didn't have that aromatic taste I was hoping for. Chicken wasn't smooth and was kinda dry. The crispy chicken was also not crispy, even after heating it up Salt and pepper fried cartilage -- this was disappointing. Portion sizes here are huge, but unfortunately the quality did not quite match. The salted egg yolk wings and Hainan chicken fried rice were excessively greasy, and the wings used for the fried chicken tasted old or improperly cooked. The most worthwhile dish we ordered was the Hainanese chicken plate, which tasted the freshest out of everything. Don't know how to say this, but only come here if you like to throw lots of money on terrible, bland food. Everything just tasted "too healthy" in a not good way. Everything just needed a little more flavor or seasoning. Don't get me started about how Hainan chicken rice should taste. I came here excited to get some good Hainan chicken rice because of the reviews hyping it up. It is one of my favorite dishes and I'm always on the search for a good place. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. The rice isn't flavored correctly and it was a bit dry. It was brown and lacked flavor. I was only able to eat the chicken and rice by dunking it in their sweet chilli sauce with each bite. This is something I never do because it hides the subtle fragrant flavors I come to appreciate about Hainan chicken rice. Good hainan chicken rice you don't NEED to add sauces but you CAN to embellish the flavors. The scallion ginger sauce is usually one of my favorites, but they made a bastardized version. They just blended all the ingredients in a blender instead of mincing the ingredients. I don't mind if it tasted right, but it was gross and bitter. We also got the fried chicken rice. Their fried chicken had more flavor than their Hainan chicken, but it was nothing to rave about. The fried buns with condensed milk were mediocre at best. It just tasted bland and soft. They were stingy with the condensed milk. The coconut jelly dessert isn't the famed coconut pudding desserts that have been popular lately. It's hard coconut jello/jelly. It wasn't what I expected, but it might have been the better tasting items out of the things we got. At least it had flavor. Prepare to spend $ on bland food. At least it was "healthy". I think we spent about $ 60 for 2 people: 2 entrees and 2 desserts at a food court. Located at the Asian street food court next to Asian family market. The 2 ladies that worked there were nice and the food was packaged nicely. Sadly, I can't find a good reason to justify coming back. TLDR: expensive bland food that doesn't taste right. read more

The fried mushroom is delicious! Crispy and flavorful. Can be a little too oily if you eat too much. The combo chicken box was also good and great value for the money. I don't know why it took me so long but I finally discovered the Asian Family Market food court and it is amazing. Cocotree was on our list of things to try for this visit and it did not disappoint. Ordered the mixed fried/traditional chicken rice and the fried tofu appetizer. Rice was not as flavorful as I have had but was not soggy whew. Dipping sauces were solid except I didn't quite like the green sauce as much. The fried tofu initially didn't seem like anything special until I tried the garlic/pepper sauce which was the star of the show. I think I enjoyed this version of hainanese chicken rice more than A ma in Redmond and portion was solid for the price. will come back to try some of the other options. The three sauces provided cover a great range, the chicken is mostly bits-and-bones free - this is something that's just a Chinese fast food thing - the way chicken is prepared (esp. cross bone cuts with a sub-optimal knife edge and weak wrists/technique), combined with the need to move quickly, translates into the occasional hard bits, bone fragments, etc. I've studied this in depth since the early 1990s. The entire thing was about $20 after tips and it comes with about a cup and a half of chicken broth flavored rice, steamed boneless skin on chicken thigh and some pickled daikon/cucumber with three different sauces. You def need the sauces to flavor your meal because I thought there weren't much seasoning or flavor to the meal. The worst tasting Hainan Chicken Rice I have ever had. The meat was dry, they give you almost no sauce, and worst of all they give you chewy undercooked brown rice. Who in their right mind would serve brown rice with Hainan chicken? It should always be chicken rice. Sure they give you 3 different sauces, but just a thumbnail of each. Talk about cheap!
