This place is wonderful. I wanted to find a place that did alterations only, as I am VERY wary of dry cleaners/alterations joints, as I don't think they are skilled tailors, but Coco does alterations ONLY, which is exactly what I was looking for. I was extremely pleased with her work. I came in to have some slacks hemmed, and I wanted them perfect. She mentioned that they didn't look bad as they were, and I said no, they needed to be EXACT with the shoes I brought in. No problem. She saw that I wanted them just as I wanted them, and said of course. No rebuttals, just pinned them as I said, and when I picked them up they were flawless. And the price was extremely reasonable. I had my bridal dress altered at Coco's because of all these great reviews, but she actually messed up my dress quite a bit. Luckily, it was at the bottom (the end) of my dress so it was hard for anyone to notice, but it was obvious in the wedding photos that showed the full body shots. It was disappointing and I'm just surprised at these stellar reviews... I didn't complain or point it out to her since it was too late to fix anyway, my wedding was in a week. I love Coco. I had a $6k wedding dress that needed some alterations - she did an amazing job. I was nervous to go to anyone, really, but wanted to stay somewhat local and saw her yelp reviews. I ordered a bridesmaid dress through JCrew and the consultant advised me to get a dress that was TOO big, as in I raised my arms and the dress would fall off. I'm not a big busted girl, but I've never had a problem with tube dresses like this before. I was not too happy with the fitting. How could I possibly replicate Wedding Crashers "shout" scene with a potential wardrobe malfunction?! Anyhow I brought my dress to Coco's and she was able to do any and all alterations I asked for! She said would have it done in a week, but when I showed up she had forgotten to do the dress. She asked me to come back two days later and the dress was perfect. This place was recommended to me by a friend in the fashion industry and I am SO glad I went to Coco for my wedding dress alterations. Her prices were much less than another seamstress I found and more convenient than having them done at the bridal salon where I bought my dress. Coco knows what she's doing. She took in the beaded bodice of my dress, added an elastic to the bodice so I was literally strapped in and bustled the dress. She did a beautiful bustle and color coded the strings underneath so that my bridesmaids could easily bustle the dress during the cocktail hour. It was such a minor detail that made a huge difference on my wedding day. She really did a great job and had the dress ready in plenty of time. I will definitely be going to her more often. Coco is AWESOME! I came here based on other yelp reviews hoping to salvage my very nice Banana Republic skirt that NY Tailors ruined (and I still had to pay for). Coco took one look at it when I tried it on and knew exactly what to do. When I went to pick it up and try on, it looked perfect! I wanted to hug her but that would have been weird since I've only been there once. Coco's is simply the best! I've been coming here for over a year to have her sew on cub scout patches, hem pants, create a hula skirt, and add a button + slit to a polo shirt. Today, I took in a pair of jeans that had a hole in the front left pocket. The hole was pretty big so I wasn't sure if it needed to be patched or replaced. I figured I'd drop them off and come back in a week. She checked it out and suggested we just sew it shut. She showed me what it would look like and it seemed good to me. She took it in the back and sewed it on the spot! Now, the pocket works great. Plus, get this, she didn't even charge me for it! Her services are normally not free, but she has consistently come through with excellent workmanship at a very reasonable price. I have nothing but good things to say about Coco. This may be excessive that this is my 3rd review for Coco but she is that good! I brought in my wedding dress to have it taken up and bustled. While I was there trying on the dress, my sister and I noticied that the back didn't look right. They had ordered me a smaller size than what I tried on because I was getting a corset, but it didn't fit quite right (made me look like I had some major back fat going on). Coco immediately knew what to do. She told my sister to loosen the corset and unbutton part of my undergarment. Then she added a small amount of panelling inside to give the corest more room to breath. Brilliant! And all this for $160 (bustling, hemming and corset modification). I had budgeted $200 for the dress thinking I was low-balling based on what friends had told me and still she came in under my low ball estimate. Again, Coco comes through! read more

I found Coco on Yelp several years ago. She is great. Doesn't beat around the bush, but is still sweet and personable. She's easy to work with - if the alteration isn't to my liking, we talk about it and she adjusts it until I like it :) I especially like having her fix up the vintage pieces I bring in, usually taking it down to size 2/4 from size 8 or 10 ... Service-wise, I cut her a little slack because she is pretty much a one-woman operation. I tend to leave my stuff there for a couple weeks, but if I need it earlier, I will call to confirm that it's ready. I usually also call just to make sure she's there, because once in a blue moon she closes early or takes the day off on short notice. Finally ... I have never used another alterations place before, so I don't have a basis for cost comparison, but when I tell my friends about her rates, they always say "Wow, that's cheap!" Just today, when I picked up my stuff, some lady came in while I was in the changing room, and while getting ready to pay for her stuff, she said to Coco, "hey, remember the first time I came to you?" ... I forgot what else she said, but it was Coco who said, "Yes, that was in 1992" or some other year around then ... and it just put a smile on my face. This is what small business is about. Got pants for work. Got pants made for models. Needed pants hemmed to suit my stubby little legs. Came to Coco's with said pants. She is fast, and she is efficient. My pants were hemmed within a few days, and they were hemmed nicely. It's a basic hem, nothing fancy, reasonably-priced at $10. I can't speak to the more complicated alterations, but I am no longer tripping over my pant legs. read more

I love Coco! I needed to have a dress tailored for a family wedding I was going to. The dress was a size too big and it was lined. I checked out the yelp reviews and thought I'd try Coco's. She had me try on the dress, made the adjustments with pins in front of a mirror so I could see what was going to happen. I showed up two days later and tried the dress on. It still needed to be taken in( in the waist). Coco had already taken in all she could on the sides so she ended up taking it in on the front and back seams. I only waited another day and it fit perfectly. She adjusted the lining so it didn't even look like it was altered! The price was great. I now have a tailor I can trust with all my clothes. Overall wonderful experience with CoCo. FYI: Coco takes cash or check only! I went in to get a bridesmaids dress altered at the last minute, and she was immediately helpful and accommodating! She did not hesitate to say she'd do the alterations, and unlike other places, did not make me feel bad for giving her the project so suddenly. I tried on the dress with my heels, and not only did she hem up the bottom, but also suggested added stitches around the bust to decrease the unpleasant bulkiness of the fabric. I went back 2 days later, and although the dress needed to be hemmed up a bit more, the top was absolutely perfect and I picked up the dress the next day. This cost $65, which I felt was quite expensive, but I also do not have much experience with getting alterations, so I wasn't sure. I would go again though for peace of mind that the job will get done right and cleanly! (4/5 because wonderful overall, but possibly price in comparison?). read more

I rarely give a business 5 stars, but I have to for Coco. I always ask for hemming on dresses (from sheath dresses to long gala gowns) and even tailoring to taper-in a dress for a vintage vibe. Coco does impeccable work. She will give her straight/hard opinion and will execute beautifully. I've never had to come back for a re-do. I've had to do a couple rush jobs in the past, but always with good reasons. Give ample time. Either way, it will always come out great. read more

Got a few items done over the next few days. Everything was done very well. On time, good fit, reasonable price, great personal service. Everything was perfect and couldn't ask for anything more. Had a pair of golf rain pants hemmed for $15. If you're not familiar with golf rain pants, they come with velcro, zippers and buttons. I brought Coco a fully lined, bridal jumpsuit that needed a serious hem and to be taken in on the sides. Having paid quite a bit for it, I was hesitant to spend a lot more on alterations, and took it in for an quote. After expertly pinning all the trouble spots for a custom fit, she quoted me an affordable $50. I easily took her up on it. When I went to pick it up, it wasn't quite finished, but she had me try it on again, and we decided to make a few more adjustments. It was ready a couple days later. I was so pleased with the ensemble, and grateful that she worked with me until it was just right.
