Yes, it's tiny, and I don't know how hard it usually is to get a table; we were here around 7 on a Thursday and there was plenty of seating. The free chips and salsa are really good. The salsa has a nice kick to it without being too spicy. The tofu tacos are okay, but it's just plain tofu, so it's not very flavorful. It would be better if it had some kind of marinade or seasoning. The rice and refried beans were good, though the rice was a little bit dry. I knew what I needed: 1) One made to order Blackened Mushroom Taco topped with Coco Reno's Avocado corn relish, American and Jack cheese, fresh tomato salsa and a little lime dressing on a warm soft flour tortilla. 2) One made to order grilled tofu taco with the same toppings but in a crunchy corn tortilla 3) Chips and fresh tomato salsa Not bad for $5.00. Que rico! Delicoius mushroom tacos (thank you Yelpers) and grilled mahi mahi tacos. And v. good fresh chips and really tasty salsa--I didn't even crave guac, the salsa was flavorful with just enough zip. Teeny tiny so I imagine you have to get the timing just right. My friend and I did and we were totally thrilled to find a new Mexican place. Good service, food made quickly and to order. I liked this place alright. My husband loves burritos so we tried this place out since they have a few vegan options. It's really cool that they offer tofu or mushrooms as a sub for meat. I can appreciate that. The place was pretty small but I liked it once we got seated. My food was good. I ordered the veggie burrito and it was tasty except for the tomatillo sauce. It wasn't like green enchilada sauce which was what I was expecting. It was super chunky and peppery. Next time I'll probably try the tofu tacos but overall I was stoked. OH! And your food is done in less than 5 minutes during the lunch rush! read more

Decent Mexican food for a decent price. We did not receive a warm getting when being seated but we're given free chips and salsa. The salsa was so tasty and spicy! I ordered 2 shrimp tacos and one chicken enchilada combination plate. The shrimp tacos were nothing special; soft tortillas, lettuce, shredded cheese and grilled shrimp and cost $6.50. The chicken enchiladas tested excellent. The chicken was soft and melt in your mouth and the cheese and sauce perfectly compliments it. The Spanish rice was delicious! I could eat a whole plate of it. Our waitress belt liked us in the eye and seemed bothered by our simple order. The customer service needs some work. read more

Great place for Mexican Food. I usually get take out here. The food is traditional Mexican fare tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tostadas etc. The food is pretty good for traditional Mexican dishes. Take out service is usually very quick. The staff is very friendly. Pricing is about the same as other traditional Mexican Restaurants. There are three tables with 4 chairs and seating by the counter. This restaurant also serves the adjacent Reno room. The only reason I give it 5 stars is that the seating area is small and not particularly comfortable for eating there. read more

Cocoreno's continues to be the source of the best home made Mexican food in Long Beach, at the most reasonable prices. If you like cheese enchiladas, theirs are big, loaded with cheese, and the sauce is delectable. Their tacos are loaded with meat, and their chile rellenos are tender and tasty. Burritos? The best and the biggest! Homemade soup? Yes! These cooks are simply awesome, and the portions are the most generous I've ever seen. If anyone reads my reviews, they can tell that I have mentioned many times how I am a frequent visitor of taquerias and Chinese Food joints. Raised on both I tend to be very picky on the food I eat from those groups. I was in Long Beach last week for work and was stuck you foot transportation and not a lot of time to wander for lunch. I came across Coco Renos and walked in. The dining area was very small but also gave off the feeling of being in someones personal kitchen. The waitress was a little hottie pop that sat me down and made me take notice right away!. I looked at the menu and it was relatively small with a few of the usual suspects to order. I also noticed that the price was cheap. I ordered two crunchy tacos with beans and rice. The hot lil waitress brought my chips and salsa and also my drink. Chips were fresh and salsa was tasty, this alone put this place head and shoulders above many failed places I have ate at. Next came my meal. WOW! Lots of food and looked good....ok hold on I told myself, dont get too excited. Many of times I have fell in love with the food at first site only to be sick at first bite. Not the case here. The tacos were good and beans and rice were awesome. Its easy to walk into a taqueria and get served funky beans or dry rice, but both were right on the money. Might lose a star because the place is so small. Reminded me of one of those taco stand in baja california, so that makes it hard to come with a party of more then 6. Other then that, my only disappointment is that it is down South and not close to my home in the Bay. read more

$3.50 for a single carne asada taco? I'm thinking: this better be the best freakin' taco ever. I've had gourmet tacos for less than that. The Carne Asada Taco is definitely big, well marinated, and heaped with stuff. You get a bag of chips about the size of a $0.99 Frito-Lay and the salsa is fresh and slightly spicy. It's kind of a white man's taco: piled with cheese, lettuce, guac. I think they're catering to the guys who stumble out of Reno Room at 2am. So maybe they saw the white man and assumed I wanted the White Man Special. Que? Dame el taco lleno de grasa con cilantro y cebolla, huevon! The carne asada meat is juicy and well marinated, plus they cook it fresh on the grill while you wait. A single taco is about the same size as 2-3 at the hole-in-the-wall taco joint down the street, so it basically equals out on portion. For size and full flavored meat I would give it 4 stars. This place has a great, small, taco-joint appeal, but it's menu is impressive - especially with several vegetarian options. I've been here twice. The first time I ate at the restaurant, the second I took my food to go. The food is delicious. This is probably my favorite place to get tacos in the area (I ordered carne asada tacos both times). I'd recommend it to anyone. Prices are decent, too. The only part I don't like is the way my to go tacos came. I live about 3 blocks down and by the time I drove home, the tortilla was ripped when I picked up the taco. A friend recommended Coco Reno's as one of the best taco stands in Long Beach, but for some reason I never noticed it was practically next door to my favorite cafe, the Library. Needless to say, I decided to check it out for lunch today! Coco Reno's advertises itself as a taco stand, and that is no joke--there are only a few places to sit. (Carry out adds a .25 cent charge to your order.) Nevertheless, I found a decent place to sit on a Sunday afternoon. Chips and salsa were brought out almost immediately, and the clearly handmade salsa was just the right mix between spicy and piquant. (Loved the pieces of green onion in there.) I ordered two carne asada tacos for the main dish, and while the tortilla was rather fragile and broke apart in my hands, that's because they were both stuffed with generous portions of meat, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The carne asada was subtly marinated so that it allowed the flavors of the other toppings to each take a turn. For my appetite, too, the generous portions were enough to satisfy my lunch cravings. Highly recommended if you want to spend less than $10 and get good quality tacos. read more

I came here with my boyfriend late on a Saturday night- open till 1 AM on Saturday! I got a Beef wet burrito and he got an enchilada. The burrito was absolutely delicious! The beef was so flavorful; some of the best Mexican I've had in Long Beach! He really enjoyed his enchilada but we both agreed that the beef burrito was the best. The place is really small, so you might have to wait on a week night but there was no wait for us since we came past 12 AM.
