When your claim to fame is having the best fish tacos, and you don't disappoint! We visited Coconut's Fish Cafe on our third night in Kihei and enjoyed everything we tried: - Fish Tacos - Some of the best fish tacos we've tried! The fish was so flavorful, and the mango salsa added the perfect tang to the taste - Coconut Shrimp Appetizer - Perfect crunch shrimp that came with a zesty Thai chili pineapple sauce - Fish and Chips - Lightly breaded and well seasoned I wish the restaurant was a bit cooler (they had AC on but the windows were open?), but the food itself made it worth the visit and one of our top spots during the trip.

Okay, I could eat here daily. The line was long, but it gave us plenty of time to study their billboard-sized menu. We ordered the two fish tacos and an order of coconut shrimp. The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

Clean interior, friendly staff. Food was hot and came out fast. Good selection, something for everyone.

We went around 730pm on a Sunday, and there was quite the line out the door! You order at the counter, get a number, then find a table and wait for your food. Popular place! But the vibe is beachy and laid back with surf board tables and smiling helpful staff. It was about 25-30 minutes from when we joined the line until we got our food. My husband loves the fish tacos! As a vegetarian, he convinced me to try the tofu veggie tacos when they explained all the toppings were the same as the fish tacos minus the fish. We also got fries and a side green salad with pineapple mango vinegarette (yum!). Other vegetarian options include onion rings, taco bowl, taco mountain, impossible burger, coleslaw, mac salad, rice. I wasn't sure what to expect with these Hawaiian tacos (I've had some bad tofu tacos elsewhere) but these were amazing!! I tried to take notes to see if I could recreate these at home! My guesses: The tofu is fried and maybe in a chipotle sauce. With tomato onion jalapeño cilantro lime salsa, topped with the cabbage slaw (coconut milk, mayo, sugar, lemon, ginger), diced tomato and then with a mango salsa that has cilantro/lime, cheese in a white corn tortilla. Just delicious! My husband's fish tacos looked exactly the safe except had fish instead of tofu. The order comes as two tacos. Looking forward to returning! It's in a plaza so plenty of parking. Also family friendly. There was also outdoor seating (did not take a photo of it).

Excellent happy hour deal! The sangria could use a lot less ice, but the coconut shrimp was the best I've ever had!

Friendly service, nice spacious dining area, you order first and then choose a table We came in thinking we would just get a tiny bite of the fish tacos to try before heading to the beach but ended up getting fish and chips and a cider as well LOL both great, the fish and chips were a little too salty for my taste but my friends loved it. Really good fresh fish overall

We have been coming back to this place as it never disappoints us. Manager is an amazing person and you can see he does his job with love. Food is so flavorful and amazing. You will leave with a smile and a full belly of amazingly tasting food

Came to this place right before closing and we heard good reviews online so we decided to check it out. We got their coconut shrimp with fries, fish tacos, and kalua pork. We really liked the fish tacos, it was huge and super flavorful. The kalua pork was pretty good too and I liked the sides. However the shrimp was just okay and not worth the price. It was $18 for 6 pieces and shrimp and some fries gurrrl. Definitely felt scammed lmaoo, save your money guys ~

Just as bite to eat before we return the car and shuttle to the airport. Split a delicious burger n small fry. Oh, happy hour. even better.

A Maui Staple That Never Fails! We've been coming to Coconuts Fish Cafe for years, and even under new management, it's still the same incredible quality and flavors we love. The new decor is super cute and keeps the vibes high! There was a happy hour but I think that was just a welcome back ole friends discount. Everyone was having a great time there. I had the ono fish sandwich with the wasabi aioli--absolutely delicious with just the right amount of kick. My husband dove straight into the coconut shrimp and loved every bite. It's also a total win for families; my kiddos were happy with the classics like the burger and mac n cheese. The setup is super easy: you order right when you walk in, grab your own condiments, and they have fountain sodas ready to go. It's the perfect, low-key spot for a fantastic lunch. You have to stop by! No alcohol but I heard you can bring your own if you want.

I wanted to try some place new but the restaurants I went to were closed. We ended up at Coconuts. My wife had the fish tacos and I had the chicken. The food came out pretty quickly. My wife really liked her tacos. I thought my chicken was just ok. Too much batter compared to the chicken. It came with a barbecue sauce. I also got coleslaw with it which had a strange taste to it. The coconut shrimp was pretty generic tasting. There was plenty of seating inside and outside.

Recommended by a friend, we decided to give it a try on the way to happy hour. We ordered online for pickup - took about 10 minutes from the time of the order. Was hot and ready when we arrived. The staff was friendly and prompt in getting me the order and gave us plenty of napkins for the messy deliciousness. The tacos are AMAZING! People in reviews say that one plate (2 tacos) is enough to share so we trusted and ordered one plate. The menu says there are over 17 ingredients in the tacos, and there is also an option to make it a mountain for $2 extra. These are already a mountain! The tacos pack a punch of flavor. The fish is perfectly salted, seasoned, flaky, juicy, and plump. The rest adds so much complexity without taking anything away. They are perfect. Not overdone at all. Nothing seems excessive at all. 10/10 will be one of my go to tacos and will be returning again

Coconut shrimps...sooo good!

Cute little local spot. You walk in, place your order, bro is super friendly answers any questions you might have, seems like he actually likes working there and taking care of customers. The reviews said to try the fish tacos and I did and I was not disappointed whatsoever! Also wanted to try the coconut shrimp because when in Maui.... So damn good! Let's just say this was the perfect meal to take care of too many Mai tais from the previous night. Super cute establishment with surfboards as table tops. Easy access easy parking. I will definitely be back!

The flavors were ok, but everything leaned a bit too smoky for me which was a little unexpected and the cabbage overwhelmed the burrito more than it complimented them. That said, I still really appreciate what this spot is all about. Everything is made to order, from tacos and mulitas to quesadillas and their Sunday-only barbacoa (get there early if you want to try it--it's first come, first served!). What keeps me rooting for them is that they're a non-profit and proceeds go toward supporting the children and youth of local churches. So even if my meal wasn't as memorable this time, I'm still happy to support a business that's doing good in the community. Would I go back? Yeah, probably--especially on a Sunday to try the barbacoa. Just hoping for a little more balance the next time around.

They sell only locally-caught fish which changes daily. For poke there are only two options: traditional and spicy. We got one of each ($22 each) and I preferred the traditional as it was saltier and had more flavor. I'm used to seeing more than just two flavors but it's fine. What I didn't like was that the rice in my bowl was hard like it had been out for a while. The other bowl was fine so I'm not sure what happened there. $46 total for two bowls seems like a higher price than normal for sushi, and the spicy one was just okay. Note that there is a 3% charge for using card.

We got the ahi sautéed with cajun rice ($28), the mahi mahi blackened with french fries ($27), and the clam chowder ($7). I liked the sautéed flavors with the butter and garlic. I loved the flavor of the blackened char flavor, and we loved that the fries were thin. The clam chowder was standard. One of the surprising stars of our meal was their house magic sauce. It was one of the condiments table-side and we found that it was so good with everything. We drenched it in the fish and even dipped it in the fries. I thought the flavor of the blackened mahi mahi was better, but the magic sauce went better with the sautéed ahi.
