I needed to satisfy my sweet tooth, so I chose Cocohodo in Pal Park because they have an extensive dessert menu. But maybe it's too extensive for its own good... It almost feels "all over the place," if you know what I mean. It's like they're trying to be a coffee shop, bubble tea shop, bakery, juice bar, Asian dessert store, and gelato/ice cream parlor all at once. One of the most popular items they are known for are sweet churros. The thing is, their churros are not that sweet (which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference). If you're expecting them to be on the level of authentic Mexican ones, they missed that by miles. I ordered the original churro (cinnamon sugar) with taro soft serve ice cream ($8). I give them bonus points because they made the churro fresh, but once I took a bite into it, I was disappointed. It was incredibly bland and wasn't coated enough with sugar and cinnamon. The taro ice cream was way too icy, so icy that I could literally see the individual ice bits. It was nothing like the consistency of ice cream, soft serve, OR froyo. Service is just okay. I wasn't greeted and the employee seemed a bit stand off-ish. A smile and a "Hi, how are you?" or "Do you have any questions about the menu?" goes a long way. They have so many other things on their menu, so maybe you can find something that you would like. But overall this was just a very average experience for me.

I came in to get dessert and was not disappointed! Their churros are made fresh and taste delicious. It was warm and I would definitely recommend. We also got the blue lemonade. It was really aesthetically pleasing. It tasted like a regular lemonade. They have many other desserts that I would love to come back and try!

I tried out this cafe only because it was late at night and many other cafes were closed or packed - I didn't have high expectations so I was so shocked when I ordered the taiyakis and they came out so fresh and sooooo good! The original one (I ordered it with cream) took a while to come out - but it was almost like a mochi on the inside (and crispy on the outside)!!! I went back and ordered some more!! I also tried the walnut pastries - they're super cute and have red bean and a walnut in them! The churro was fresh as well and I do recommend getting the taro and matcha soft serve - loved the flavors! Will be back for more taiyakis!!

Espresso crème brûlée and regular drip coffee

Needed a mid-afternoon caffeine fix, so i dropped in to get a drip coffee but was tempted by all the sweets options. Wanted everything.... The walnut pastry, the taiyaki.. but then those fridges w all the glass jars just kept beckoning to me, and I succumbed to temptation and got an espresso crème brûlée. Still in theme w my original intent of getting caffeine right? Service was 5/5 excellent and efficient, lots of seating but I took it to go. Devoured the espresso crème brûlée in the car and OMG sooo good. Perfect amount of sweetness, so creamy delicious. I'll be back.

Solid hodo gwaja (walnut pastry snack)! Recently picked up a bag of 30 to go--they were solid. Each piece only had one walnut but overall it was fresh. If you eat them when they just come out, they are so good and you can probably go through a whole handful by yourself. Will have to try the churros next time! Haven't been there since it was Red Mango as well.

This Cocohodo is way different than the other location I've been to (in Closter). I had high expectations and felt very underwhelmed. The pricing and flavors for their croissant taiyakis are different also. At this location you get two smaller ones instead of one large one per order. Unfortunately, the four croissant taiyakis that we got did not taste at all like croissant and didn't have the light glaze on top. They were unsweetened and flavorless waffles - like eating a saltine without salt and also very dry. Hopefully the day we visited was just an off day because after my experience in Closter, I had been raving about Cocohodo and the amazing croissant taiyakis to everyone! Might try again if I'm in the area - maybe their specialty is the churros.

We came for dessert. Sad that there isn't much seating anymore because of the pandemic. So you can't really hang out. There are four very small tables outside. We ordered the ice cream churro with green tea ice cream. The churro was very good to our surprise. Made to order. And tasted perfectly soft. And not too over saturated with sugar. The ice cream was a bit too watery. I guess it was soft serve ice cream. But a little too soft and turned to soup really quick. Eat fast! But overall a good place to come to after a late dinner.

Wowwww. Their pistachio cake looks sooo cute. I got the peach tea which was just a loose leaf tea, but it was so fragrant. Loved it. They also sell NYC macarons in cute boxes, churros in ice cream, and several selections of bubble tea. I guess they aren't doing the soft serves anymore. They still have the hodos and the fruit breakfast acai bowls. There's only outdoor seating.

Churros dunked into Taro or matcha flavored ice cream. It's their own take of New Orleans beignet and coffee, I suppose. The ice cream serving is a bit too small for the size of the churros, taking away 1 star.

A small $5.88 black sugar milk tea that's just milk and melted boba..
    Jae C.

Uh, I used to come here to pick up frozen yogurt. And then they started selling lots of other stuff like taiyakis, churros, keki cheesecakes and some snacks on the side like a deli. I've tried taiyaki, outside is crispy and nice but there barely was any fillings... whether it's green peas, red beans or cream, they are so stingy, there's barely any filling inside. Also, they are pre-made and keep them in an oven so it's not fresh. Churros are nice though. All their stuff is overpriced but I thought it was okay. And then I saw they were selling the tiger sugar milk tea. I've been to the authentic tiger sugar milk tea store in Flushing and was pretty impressed so I decided to give it a try in Jersey. Huge mistake. For a small black sugar milk tea, I paid $5.88.. it was tiny.. I saw the server making it, it was just pre-made tea with milk and they put some syrup which is like melted bobas.. and that was it. Is this really black sugar milk tea? I don't know. I could've gotten a meal at fast food restaurants for that price. Also, this place gets really noisy and loud. Like really really loud..

Rainbow churro with taro/matcha soft serve
    Mia K.

First time I went here, I didn't know any better. Second time was because Gongcha a couple of doors down had no seats, and I remembered Cocohodo as being spacious. Then it finally clicked! It's empty because it's overpriced. And they've gotten part of my order wrong both times. I overlooked it because everything still tasted good and service was really friendly, but it's not enough to come back. My total today was $19 for just one bubble tea, one coffee, and one churro/soft serve combo. And they sell hair dryers, flat irons, and brushes by the sugar and milk. Huh?

    Tayaki

Good cute little desert place in Palisades Park. Good for going to after one of the nearby restruants to pick up something sweet. The coffee affagato is nice, the ice cream mixed with the coffee is good but the espresso wasn't the best. It tasted burnt and harsh. The tayaki was pretty good but nothing too special. Music is a bit too loud but thats an easy fix.

Churro Ice Cream - Mango flavored Fro-Yo
    Stephy G.

With the multiple opportunities to grab a sweet treat in Palisades Park Cocohodo comes in as average. It's a very clean and simple spot to hang out with friends and relax - I was extremely excited to try the Churro Ice Cream after seeing all the pictures on Yelp - it was delicious and worth the trip! The churro itself was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and seasoned well with sugar and cinnamon. What they call ice cream was actually fro-yo - I was also given the option to choose my flavor which was nice, so I ended up creating a mango fro-yo with a Churro on top.

I would say Service is pretty nonexistent as you order on the counter and you see yourself with no waitressing. The cashier lady was also pretty rude and not accomodating to my request (make my drinks less sweet) so they lose a store for that. Atmosphere is cute and vibes are great, definitely has modern and traditional Korean vibes. However, I would not say that this is like a traditional tea house? Having been to A LOT of tea houses in Korea, their menu and concept is definitely far from what a traditional teahouse is like. For instance, a traditional teahouse would have assorted rice, cakes and traditional, Korean desserts, however, I feel like this place used modern French pastries, and put a Korean twist on them, which I would say is not very Korean in reality. Baked goods were OK. It tasted stale. Losing a star for that as well.

The cashier understood I wanted a smoked salmon sandwich AND a bagel. We ordered takeout for dinner: Toowoomba Shrimp Pasta with Tonkatsu and the Spicy Original Tteokbokki (rice cakes) with Fried Kim-ma-ri (fried seaweed rolls). The shrimp pasta had good flavor but the portion was way too tiny. After only three or four bites, it was gone. There were about 4 pieces of shrimp in the entire dish and they could've added more pasta, given that it's not an expensive ingredient. The tonkatsu was also underwhelming. It was a small piece served in a large container that made the portion size look even more skimpy. I was also disappointed in the tteokbokki. It was mostly sauce with no egg and only a few pieces of fish cake, again served in a container that was far too large for the amount of food provided. The kim-ma-ri pieces were fine but also very small. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. For a total cost of nearly $50, the quantities were just way too small.
