EXTREMELY rude employees!! I actually haven't been here in a long time since the food didn't stand out to me back then. BUT, I came here 2 days ago (on Monday) and a friend had ordered taro and green tea ice cream, as well as the mango fluffy shaved ice. The mango shaved ice was so good, so I came back today 6/1 - super excited to eat the mango again. After ordering with an older lady, we waited for our shaved ice but another employee brought out a green tea one to the window. The employee (guy) looked at my bf and said, "sir, this is yours." We immediately said we didn't order the green tea one. Employee goes to the back to talk to the older lady who took our order (who apparently is the boss), and comes back out to tell us that that IS what we ordered and that they can't do anything about it BUT for us to order another one. No void. No re-make. UNLESS WE PAID FOR A NEW ONE. I told my bf that I'm not going to give money to a place that accused us of ordering something we never, even thought about ordering. I didn't even see green tea on the menu when I ordered! I had specifically said: "hello. Could we get the mango fluffy shaved ice? Oh, do you guys have MOCHI (maybe she heard matcha? IDK, apparently she doesn't speak English which is fine but why are you working the front taking orders then?) No mochi? That's fine! They are known most for their pastries which are great on their own or with some tea or coffee. They have read bean and a walnut in them and even taste just as good a day later when they aren't as fresh. You can always ask if they have day old pastries and you'll get a discount. Let's say when I saw the price of $18 I was quite shock and disappointed with such a high price. My absolute favorite thing about this place is the soft serve. It's so strong and flavorful, especially in comparison to its counter part (somi) that I have frequented on several occasions this past year. While their ice cream is still super soft, sweet and milky, it's still got tons of tea flavor and provides a good balance that really surprised me. We got the taro soboong with custard filling and Oreo on top as well as the matcha soboong with custard filling and pocky. They were both delicious and I seriously cannot get over that taro flavor. Our cashier was really kind and they have quite a bit of seating hidden inside so you can have a slightly more intimate snack/dessert time here. They also sell gifting tea boxes and several other drinks up front but we had just finished dinner and only had room for some sugar. The only thing I didn't fall in love with here was the taiyaki. I don't know if it was just a one off but it was definitely not as crispy and fully cooked as I am used to in the place I mentioned above. It might be since these aren't being ordered as constantly as other items and the cooking station isn't fully warmed up. Located within the same complex as H Mart, Chocohondo is a great place to stop before snagging some groceries. Shop itself is pretty small but has a good amount of tables. Menu is pretty straightforward, and service is friendly. I opted for the cone with Nutella, Oreo and Soft Serve. Took some time maybe 5-10 to come out because they're made to order...which is great. Fresh. Cone itself was a nice thickness, crispy, flavorful, warm but not too warm as to melt all the ice cream. They stuff their shells well here...no skimping with the Nutella. Oreo on the ice cream was standard but a good amount. Soft Serve had a good, standard milky taste, didn't taste ultra artificial and stood up really well to the cone. I visited Cocohodo for the first time to grab some desserts after dinner, and this place was the perfect Korean cafe. We wanted some snow shaved ice, and this place had just the thing we need. The interior isn't too spacious, but it was still enough for my party of 3, and we ended up ordering the regular Cocohodo Snow Shaved Ice which seemed like it was the signature product. It was the basic bingsoo with red beans, fruits and mochi. The cafe wasn't busy at all when we came (we came towards closing time) so the bingsoo came out really quickly! The size was exactly what we were looking for -- not too big and shareable portions and the shaved ice was good as well. It's not bingsoo that's exceptionally great, but it was still a good tasty bingsoo, and yes... there are cafes who suck at bingsoos. But the custard fish - oh my goodness absolutely spectacular. So yes - the little baby Walnut things - just forget about them. I mean, we waited so many damn years to try them and they are absolutely not worth your time. I couldn't believe how disappointing they were. They look cute, I guess. Maybe that's the appeal. What is it with this place? I used to often visit this place. Last year during one visit, they didn't have Thai ice cream. Another visit, their Taiyaki machine was down. I fully understand machine breaks. Today, I came in at 10:47am for their five fish with custard. I wanted it for breakfast. The cashier told me they don't turn on their machine till noon. A very little shop near the hmart complex but its not too hard to find a seat! They are known for their walnut red bean pastry but I love their new item they got which us the goldfish bread. I also tried the goldfish icecream which was the same chewy inside texture but crunchy on the outside. Very similar to how it tastes in korea. It takes a while for the goldfish bread to come out because they have to make it fresh and all but it is very worth! I just wished they were a little bigger but it's not too bad haha. I got the nutella filling with my icecream which was really good. The custard is my next favoirte then the red bean. The red beans are whole and not complete paste for those who like that, you will like it here. I also heard the sweet potato latte was good but never had it. Cooked to order, the outside is hot and crispy while the inside is chewy and filled with sweet red bean goodness. The so boong is also amazing if you're looking to treat yo'self. I had the green tea ice cream, red bean filling, and mochi topping. The green tea is some of the best I've had. It tastes legit. The mochi is the colorful mochi that you find at froyo places.
