Checked out this place today for lunch. We were a little nervous going because we've heard of locals not being OK with tourist in that area, rightfully so. But we wanted to eat so being that we had Aloha MP and Mala's last visit, we wanted a new place. Coco Deck it was! The server, who also sat us, was very nice. I believe her name is Moana. Hubs n I decided to share the fish tacos and the funky fries. Both were very good! Hubs had the Horchata colada, and I had the vodka Fresca. His drink was very yummy and mine was OK, but too much ice so it was pretty watered down, I'd say. Overall a very nice lunch with a very pleasant server, who chatted with us. Amazing Happy Hour experience at Coco Deck! And the most friendly waitress. So glad to help support a new spot in downtown Lahaina. The queso tacos were our absolute favorite. Only $3 each from 3-5:00 and we fought over the beef ones. ;) The fish tacos were stellar too though and come with yummy pickled accompaniments. Great tomatillo salsa also. Visited the Coco Deck on our first night staying in Ka'anapali. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, promptly offered water, and our order was taken by the server. Disappointing dining experience. Like, I'm certain I have never had a bad fish taco in my life...until the day I dined at Coco Deck. Moreover, how is it possible to have bad fish in Hawaii??! Whatever the case, Coco Deck figured it out. My friend and I both ordered the same thing and were both incredibly disappointed. She was able to force herself to force herself to eat most of her three tacos but I barely got through one. Meaning I paid a good chunk of change to go home hungry. Our server also didn't want to communicate with us or otherwise thought nodding her head was sufficient in place of responding with "yes" or "no." I ordered some type of breaded dessert with coffee ice cream which didn't disappoint, but also wasn't redeeming enough to overshadow the balance of the disappointing meal. Everything was great except it's too hot in the restaurant. We came for happy hour and had the ceviche, margaritas, tacos and the southwest salad with Mahi. The food was all outstanding fresh and flavorful and the price was super reasonable! The ceviche was ahi and came with plenty of homemade seasoned chips and it had an avocado salsa base perfect with the lime. The southwest salad was like a Cobb and honestly didn't even need the dressing! Mahi was cooked to perfection! The 5 dollar margs can't be beat! And we finished with the likkikoi sorbet.
