Duck Confit Perimitier
Bill E.

There is no reason NOT to give this place 5 stars. Four of us came in for a saturday night dinner. Our server immediately arrived, introduced herself and took a drink order while showing us a very bubbly personality. Our table ordered Chicken Salad Bowl, Steak, Gnocchi, and, Duck Confit. The food was delivered promptly followed by our server arriving to ensure that we had all that we needed. I am including a picture of my Duck mixed with mushrooms and topped with a sweet potato puréed sauce. It was very very good. The gnocchi was delicious and the steak very good. The chicken salad was also tasty . This is a very good restaurant to dine when in the area. It is internally connected to the Hampton Inn and Suites.

A wonderful sign thanking their Architect and Builder, found right inside the front door

Bright and lively with an extensive and seemingly delicious menu. Breakfast till 1400 each day and lunch and dinner options that make, making a decision very hard. Only opened a matter of a few weeks and located adjacent to the ground floor of the Hampton Inn we were delighted to find it packed when we arrived around noon. Being an Architect I found it delightful that they have a sign thanking their Architects and builder right inside the front door. Very well done and I now expect great things to come! Oh, and before I save this one....be careful, the Dyson, wedge shaped hand dryers are mounted a little too high so when you blow the water off your hands, you'll be misting yourself all at once... Trust me....

The place was packed for Sunday brunch but we lucked out for a table of 4. Normally you'd want to make a reservation. The food was AMAZING! And I don't normally say that with caps. The steak, the poutine and the Croque Madame were out of this world delicious and the kids meals were also super upscale- real parmasean and smoked pancetta. The wait was REALLY long, and I considered dropping a star, but the amazing waiter staff made up for it... so 5 stars!

Very nice atmosphere in this Cochon Dingue. The decor is nice , staff are friendly and bilingual. Enjoyed munching on the Gergen pickles waiting for my soup. the Thai soup was wonderful, I also enjoyed the Mac & Cheese vegetable with extra chicken a pure delight. Staff were very attentive. Location is very convenient being in the same complex as Hampton Inn & Suites with available underground parking$.

We couldn't even get a booth because they gave it to the family that came afterwards.

We are finally seated after waiting in line and the host looked us over and seated the French speaking family that came ten minutes after us. I'm a restaurant owner and find this quite rude. At my restaurant it's first come first serve. Although it was a rough first impression, we ordered the dessert. We had the carrot cake, the strawberry cake (which is more of a tart), and the mug cake. All three were delicious. So if you can stand rude service, the dessert is good.

4.5 stars. I reserve 5 stars for wow that was fantastic and 4 is that was really good. This was in between the two. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor was really well done. It is a very well thought out design that welcomes and interests the eye. He food was excellent. I had the blackened turbot with sautéed mixed vegetables and rice. The turbot was cooked to perfection and the combination of the blackening seasoning, hollandaise sauce and the rice made for delicious bites. The vegetables were well cooked and flavorful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

No food proper enough for children, not to mention over priced, we walked out after we saw the menu.

She was so informative and she gave the best recommendations--and also, so incredibly sweet. She suggested the famous pot en pot, and the baby back ribs. We also ordered the french onion soup as well. We loved her suggestions, my parents and I basically cleaned the plate for them. Even the salad from each plate was delicious. (My dad, who is normally not a fan of salads, kept going for more) The french onion soup was also good, but a little too salty for my parents. I had briefly mentioned to Nancya about that, and she ended up taking it off the bill. I thanked her and she said it was normal! As an American, this is not what I'm used to and I was just beyond surprised over the customer service. I highly recommend going to Cochon Dingue and I hope your server is Nancya, because you will be taken care of.

I think this place is a classic French restaurant to try out in Quebec City. We came here for breakfast and it was already so busy in the morning! We got the breakfast sandwich which was a yummy classic sandwich and the country duo which was more unique and also tasty! The country duo was both savory and sweet with the crepe and caramelized apples! They both came with a decent amount of home fries which were good! I would come back here to try their dinner menu!

An Unexpected Gem - One of Our Best Dining Experiences Ever…read more My wife and I discovered Au Grain de Folie in Lévis, Quebec, completely by chance. We hadn't made a reservation--we just saw the great reviews and decided to take a shot. When we arrived, they told us they were fully booked and only accepted reservations. But just as we were about to leave, the staff kindly offered us a spot at the tabletop, which gave us a front-row view of the magic happening in the kitchen. That's when Chef Claudine personally stepped in, and from that moment on, we were treated to something truly special. The entire staff welcomed us with warmth, and the space was intimate, charming, and full of positive energy. We were invited to enjoy the Chef's Inspiration tasting menu with wine pairings, and we gladly placed ourselves in their hands. Each course was inventive and delicious, paired with a wine thoughtfully selected to complement the flavors--and tailored to our individual palates. Chef Claudine noticed right away that my wife and I have different tastes and curated each pairing accordingly. Before each course, she came to our table to describe the dish and the wine, creating a relaxed, engaging rhythm to the evening. From our seats, we could watch the team at work--cooking, laughing, even dancing. It was clear they loved what they were doing, and that joy came through in every plate. We've had the privilege of dining at many top-tier restaurants, but this evening stands out as one of the best. Not just because of the food and wine, but because of the warmth, care, creativity, and energy of the entire experience. Even the music--delightfully eclectic--added to the charm. If you're in Lévis, do yourself a favor--go here. It's a small space, so reservations are definitely a good idea. But however you get in, just go. We'll absolutely be back. Thank you, Chef Claudine and team, for an unforgettable night.

We took the ferry across the St. Lawrence River to the town of Lévis, and then a taxi ride 20 minutes upriver to a little bistro in a quaint neighborhood beside the river. From the outside, the prospects for fine dining did not look terribly promising. But one step through the door, and I sensed we were in the right place. They remembered my telephone message in bad French making the reservation and seated us promptly. The chef-owner, Claudine, then came to the table to welcome us, and personally stepped us through the entire menu in her good but hesitant English. It's a very seasonal menu, entirely written by hand on a chalkboard on one wall of the restaurant. By good fortune, last night it featured four appetizers and four entrées, so we ordered everything on the menu! The place was small and was obviously a favorite of the locals. The kitchen was staffed by just the chef and one sous chef. The music playlist was pop songs from our childhood, and the staff was very friendly, obviously having a good time working together serving the clients. I decided to really step outside my comfort zone and order things the chef seemed especially proud of. So for an appetizer, I had the veal sweetbreads, and for my entrée I had a blood pudding made according to the chef's grandmother's recipe. Every bit of food was amazing. The blood pudding was served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes whipped with farmers cheese, a mustard slaw, and a grilled apple. It was so rich and interestingly spiced. I enjoyed all of my unusual choices! The other appetizers were onion soup, and borszcz, a cold Ukrainian beet soup. The other entrées were ceviche, roast duck, and risotto with a halibut fillet. For dessert, we had macarons and chômeur, which is a moist bread pudding flavored with maple. The name chômeur translates as "unemployed person"! After the meal, our bartender-waiter, Jean-Phillipe, brought over a bottle of Armagnac and served us all a shot. He joined us in the drink, saying it was in part to celebrate his recent 25th birthday. After that the chef joined us outside for a group photo and hugs.
