Step into Canadiana! This spot is perfect for a big group brunch, Quebec style! The minute you walk in your see Bonhomme and a bunch of plaid. I booked resos for six of us here on vacation as I heard this spot fills up quickly. We sat at one of their picnic benches in the center room. The decor is awesome, it's filled with ski hill imagery, toboggans, sugar shack stuff, and animals you'd catch in a Canadian forest. I ordered the breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast and hashbrowns with a side yogurt. The breakfasts are HUGE so you can easily share with someone else if you're not in the mood to eat a full one yourself. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast buttered and fluffy, the hashbrowns were cooked well and seasoned well which is such a bonus as I find sometimes hashbrowns are lacking a lot. The side yogurt was surprisingly the highlight for me! It came with maple syrup, fruit and granola. I absolutely devoured it! The service was great here too, and they came by with drip coffee top up! They know their audience. I would 100% go back here!

I had both the Tourtière and a small poutine. The tourtiere was cubes of meat not minced. It was quite tasty. The poutine gravy was drinkable. My MIL had the BLT, which was very generous and the attached picture of the Bloody Mary. Service was excellent. They have a store two doors down that had souvenirs which I appreciated. It's busy and the bathrooms are downstairs.

We came for breakfast/brunch time while visiting the city. The food was a bit expensive, but very tasty. It was a unique dining experience. The quirky decorations offered a very Canadian experience. The server was quickly accommodating in both English and French. Both meals were delicious. We opted for the $12 mimosa (with $2 refills) available at brunch. Unfortunately, it was very hard to track down our server after our initial order and we we're not able to get more than one refill despite arrive 90 minutes before the offer was up. Besides that, I would recommend adding this to your Quebec City itinerary.

The duck wings were slathered to an excessive degree with an overly sweet sauce. The foie gras was extremely rich while the assorted nuts and berries were again sugar packed. The shepherd's pie was filling and felt like a complete meal. Pork ribs may have been a little overwhelmed by the bbq coating.

Sugar Shack Plate - The Big One La Tourtiere Facing Buche

La Buche in the slow season is still very popular, we were lucky to be there just as they opened for brunch and by the time we were finished there was a line already. La Buche is a Quebec City must visit. They have a traditional cottage feel interior setting and a cozy table/bench style tables. The decorative items are very French Canadian in the style of a cabin and their menu items are very local. Beware (for good reasons) that all their items are basically sweetened with maple syrup! It was delicious. We had the: - Maple Syrup Cola; it was VERY fizzy so drink it fast and it is fairly sweet - LA TOURTIÈRE FAÇON BÛCHE; a bit on the dryer side, this is a classic meat pie with potatoes, it is a hearty meal - ASSIETTE D'LA CABANE - la totale (Sugar Shack Plate - The Big One); highly recommended if you don't know what to order and want a taste of everything... they crepes was delicious, the sausage, eggs, etc. all drowned in maple syrup, the fruit ketchup was also a nice surprise and worth a try, it was due to this experience that I am a bit obsessed with fruit ketchup now (a ketchup, tomato + vinegar base with fruits like apples, pears, peaches, etc. plus more spices and pearl onions) At La Buche, you can purchase some souvenirs and some of their signature items like their fruit ketchup and maple syrup. It is also offered at their attached store (which was closed for the season) as well as at some of the local stores in the city. It is a great deal/price compared to other local prices. However, if you do want to bulk buy maple syrup, go to a local market/grocer for a better deal. Service at La Buche was amazing, the server took care of everything and the food came out really quickly. As with most things in Quebec, there is absolutely no rush with your dining experience and everything was delicious.

Perfect! From the greeting at the door, to being seated quickly, to checking in for a cafe, then promptly taking my order! They Delivered the food to my table timely, checking in that it is good, following up to see if I want anything more. Excellent service, delicious crepes with blueberries, I will come back tomorrow for French toast:)

The service was quick and friendly. They all spoke English and were helpful in making a selection. The food quality was excellent. I tried Poutine for the first time and enjoyed it. I highly recommend this unique restaurant. They have seating outside and inside, with nice window views.

We came around 2pm for brunch (which ends at 3). There were three parties ahead of us, one of them was a group of 16 which we all waited outside. The place has lots of tables and can definitely accommodate big parties hence the party of 16! The decor is super cute and the atmosphere is lively. I love a hearty brunch, and the Sugar Shack plate was perfect -- a little bit of everything, but in real portions, not just tiny bites. The meat was a bit dry on its own, but pairing it with the beans made it much better. We also tried a crepe and it was honestly the best savory crepe I've ever had. The gravy was heavenly, and we were literally scraping every last drop off the plate. Bathrooms are downstairs and coed, with stalls lined along one side of the room. The walls go from floor to ceiling, so privacy is still good. The sink situation is kind of funny since it's a bathtub, but it was a bit awkward to use. Overall, I loved this place and honestly regret not coming back for dinner while we were in town. Would definitely return!

Visited La Buche for dinner, after stopping here on a food tour. Food was delicious, service was great and the place has lively atmosphere. Make sure to get a side order of the fruit ketchup (incredible).I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant on a future trip.

I had a great time at La Bûche. We ordered poutine, French toast, and tried two different beers, and everything really captured that hearty, comforting Québécois feel. The food was tasty and satisfying, and it paired perfectly with the relaxed, rustic vibe of the space. The service was excellent -- friendly, professional, and quick, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The venue itself was amazing, with such a fun, cozy atmosphere that makes it stand out. Even the bathroom was incredible, which says a lot about the attention to detail throughout the restaurant. Overall, La Bûche offered a memorable dining experience that was as much about the warm hospitality and atmosphere as it was about the food and drinks. PS. Our server was womderful but obsessed with going to the US to eat at Olive Garden and I don't know if I can support that.

Beautiful restaurant nestled in old Quebec City. We found this spot on a food tour and came back on our own the next day! Delicious light eggs filled with a mild cheese and sautéed mushrooms, side of sweet apples and savory potatoes- loved every bite! My husband enjoyed the breakfast sampler with small portions of crepe, potatoes, meats and beans! Nice to try multiple small bites!! We enjoyed our breakfast with a view of the busy city streets ! Tip- very popular spot, get there early or make a reservation, especially if you prefer a table with a view.

The restaurant is cozy and the walls are covered in cute decor. The servers are very welcoming and had great recommendations. I was told to order the famous French onion soup. The soup is savory with a sweet note at the end. We also had the poor man's pudding with foie gras and bacon, it is an appetizer but could be enjoyed as a sweet and savory dessert. The dish that brought light to our waitresses eyes was the deer tartare entree. It was perfect!

The poutine here was absolutely delicious. The onions in the French onion soup were too sweet, but the Shepherd's pie was quite tasty. The waiter did hand us the wrong bill on accident and we had to ask for the correct bill. The ambience was amazing and cozy. The decorations really added to the experience. The bathroom is also decorated in a very unique way.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

We started with Limbo Yuzu and lime Montellier, light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. Sharing the riz d'agneau set the tone for the evening. It was rich, comforting, and absolutely unforgettable. For the mains, my fiancé chose the conkie filet de bœuf, and I had the fruits de mer. Both dishes were exquisite. The filet was tender and deeply flavorful, while the seafood plate felt elegant, fresh, and beautifully composed. Every bite told was perfect. Dessert was the perfect finale. The brownie with chantilly was indulgent and satisfying, and the crème brûlée was silky, delicate, and flawlessly caramelized. Truly, every single bite was amazing. What made the experience even more meaningful was the staff. They were incredibly attentive, kind, and genuinely passionate, taking the time to explain the menu thoughtfully in both French and English. We felt welcomed, cared for, and completely present in the moment. This wasn't just a meal; it was an experience. Pure chef's kiss. They really know how to celebrate food and have put great thought into their food combinations, elevating good quality ingredients into a fine dining experience. Le Hobbit is a cozy spot with a corner view of the city's dining/shopping street with great 2 seater tables to enjoy the private ambiance as well as some longer tables for groups of 4, 6, 8 to gather. Reservations is highly recommended/required. The atmosphere is very cozy with wood themes and very private. We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

I had the gnocchi dish and my mom had the catch of the day which was cod I think. The gnocchi was good but very rich. The hollandaise, the creamy egg, I think there were onions in there.. it was very very rich that it was almost hard to finish.. My mom's dish was delicious as well! For dessert we had the lavender, Chantilly, biscuit thing. It was eh. I wish they had a chocolate dish in the menu.
