If you're going on a weekend, make sure to call and get a reservation just to be safe. Really cool atmosphere for a date or group (upscale). To summarize, the food was one-of-a-kind and amazingly good. We weren't overly impressed by our appetizer, but the main dish was phenomenal. I would highly recommend and definitely will be back! read more

Was immediately greeted and shown to a table (got there a bit early 530pm or so) to avoid dinner rush. Exposed brick walls and subdued lighting with mix matched chairs and tables is the decor. The bar service is excellent...bartenders know their craft and feature a wide selection of options. I had their take on a negroni cocktail (has cointreau and a twist of Orange) which was tasty, but heavy on the Orange flavor. They have a fine selection of liquors...did not get any beer this time. Waitress brought out an amuse bouche of cracker and bacon marmalade. There is a running theme of smoky pork flavor throughout the menu items and this sets you off nicely on that road. I decided on sweet potato gnocchi for an appetizer which is served with whipped cream and bacon marmalade (i said there would be bacon). The whipped cream is flavored with sage and comes with sweet potato chips as a garnish. The flavors on their own were nice, but together they were supported and elevated into something greater. Entree was the carbonara ravioli. The stuffing of the ravioli contains the parts normally on the outside of carbonara, namely the egg and pancetta. Parmesean cheese on the outside and butter-herb broth for sauce. This was extremely delicious. The bacon on the inside was a nice counterfoil to the broth and cheese on the outside. I will probably get this every time it is on the menu. Dessert was the old fashioned brownie. This is a take on the old fashioned whiskey cocktail with bourbon soaked cherries a bourbon reduction glaze and sour cherry sorbet. This was a fun take on an after dinner cocktail. The sour cherry sorbet was amazing. I happen to like bourbon, but if you are not a fan this dessert is probably not for you. All in this was 60 including the three courses, tax, drink and tip. I feel this was worth the experience, I had a great time! read more

Great food. I love their seafood salad, their lamb sausage [tastes similar to Indian food] and steak. They have homemade liquors for their signature drinks, which are not my absolute favorite but I'm not much of a drinker anyway. read more

The best restaurant in Iowa and seriously rivals some heavy hitters in Chicago. Try it - I promise you will be delightfully wow'ed!

First time to Cobble Hill. Recommended by a friend who lives here. Did not disappoint. Calamari appetizer was great. Roasted pork loin was great. Rice pudding was great. Entire menu had interesting choices and combinations of foods that one wouldn't think would go together, but the chef makes it work well here. The staff were very attentive and friendly and made us feel good to be there. Only negative was finding a place to park within two blocks in the winter! read more

Tasty food, but coming from Chicago this is definitely overpriced for the amount of food you get. Would still come here again though to try something different, just for a second chance! read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant when I was in town after reading the reviews. The Chef may have been off his game the night I was dined here. We started with the poutine, because my business partner is Canadian; he was less than impressed. We then ordered Oysters which didn't taste very fresh. I held out hope for our entrees but after the first two underwhelming courses, the entrees just couldn't raise the bar. The wait staff was great, and the beer selection was solid, but on this night at least the food was lacking. read more

This is the best restaurant in the state of Iowa and one of the best restaurants hands down. The last time I was there I had the Boudin Blanc Sausage and it was incredible, I couldn't get over how something so simple blew my taste buds away. The pickled cabbage and fresh dill were fantastic and the sausage was rich and fluffy and perfect. I could have this meal every day. read more

Loved the bean salad and sea bass. The bartender is a master at his craft! Do yourself a favor and come and experience this place.

A great staple farm to table restaurant in Cedar Rapids. Andy does an amazing job with the entrees which change regularly. It is an incredible place with a great atmosphere that reminds me of many high end places in Brooklyn. It is the epitome of a family owned and run restaurant. read more

You surely do not want to go to this restaurant. The food is rubbish and a drink was spilled on clothing. We were told to have the clothes cleaned bring in the receipt for reimbursement. We did and gave it to them. The cleaning cost were never reimbursed and we have been ignored. Eight calls have been placed to the restaurant to no avail. Tonight I spoke to the owner Andy and he told me exactly where to shove it. With all the restaurants in this area why would you want to come here and be treated this way or risk being treated this way? read more

First visit and it was awesome! Not only was the food gourmet and outstanding, but the staff was very pleasant & attentive without being overwhelming. Fun, fun time and will return! read more

Excellent food, great atmosphere and service. By far the best restaurant in Eastern Iowa. Highly recommend!

Pricy, but worth it. Menu changes regularly with season. Very creative starters and dinners. It would be a good happy hour option for a couple of starters and cocktails. Yum! read more

We had a fabulous experience at Cobble Hill! A trifecta for us - great food, drinks, and service. I had the flat iron steak and my wife had the sturgeon. Shared Parisian gnocchi and the warm bean salad appetizers. We were impressed with the cocktail menu, but more so with the drinks themselves! Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Based on all the positive reviews, we had high expectations that ended up being exceeded. read more

Amazing food, reasonably priced! We had a Friday 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. We had the peanut gnocchi and lamb sausage starters. The peanut gnocchi was gnocchi sauteed in a peanut sauce; it sounds basic but is so rich and unctuous. The lamb sausage was quite good but outshined by the gnocchi. I had the rabbit porchetta and my partner had the Amish chicken both were juicy, perfectly seasoned and well portioned. I also had the punch cocktail and it was potent but you tasted no alcohol. A must stop if in the Cedar Rapids area read more

Amazing food. Locally sourced. Responsibly raised meat products. Chefs are top-notch. Amazing cocktail menu. Truly seasonal, clean food.

Great meal! Would have given it a five, but just a little more work on perfecting the taste and they will be there

This place is amazing. Incredible service, and the food is fresh, locally sourced, and originally prepared. Great rotating menu. The ambiance is also lovely. Give the saddle lamb a try, it's my favorite. read more

I had the Sea Bass with Brussel Sprouts. I almost considered asking for a vegetable substitution. But, I thought okay let's just see what you do with those fat, dense little cabbages. He turned them into a cloud of cabbage flavor by serving them as individual leaves beautifully sauteed. The best brussel sprouts I have ever had. The sauce was fantastic. I was in heaven. Everything we had was spot on perfect. Several times a year I do cook a whole menu featured in the magazine Bon Appetit. That lovely little meal I had last night would have taken me 2-3 days of prepping and cooking. I am so excited to have found a brilliant chef in the area that can deliver that kind of complex recipes. If you have attempted to cook a meal like that you will know how down right reasonable those prices are. I will be back again before the month is out! read more

We started with an amuse bouche, which was good, followed by the charcuterie, which was also good.  The charcuterie had a decent variety of selections with a very savory lamb meatball and a very subtle pate.  The butternut squash selection was strong, but my family was sharing and one of us liked it enough to finish it.  We ordered two braised lambs and a Hereford pork.  The positives, each was cooked perfectly. The lamb was juicy and well braised.   The negatives were that the lamb included 4 kebabs of lamb, two small potatoes, olives and a generous portion of lettuce.  My wife and I both thought it was not enough for a full entree.  In addition, we were informed the preparation included Moroccan spices and an au jus, but having had Moroccan food I can say there was no flavor of any spice even remotely Moroccan.  In fact, the lamb and the pork lacked any descernible seasonings.  Overall, having seen the reviews and ratings we expected a satsifying flavorful meal and got well cooked food that was overpriced, under seasoned, and underportioned.  Service was friendly and fairly attentive,  although parking was abysmal.  Dinner for three with the app came to a little over $110.00 and was not worth it. read more

Went for the first time tonight. Service was fine, as was the meal. The duck mole' was very well balanced with peach slices and mole' spiced just right with habernero. Soup entree of carrot/coconut was well executed. Had to send the dinner back twice before it finally came out hot enough. My wife had to send her's back as well. Make sure to check the bill total before you leave. read more

I feel ripped of, the food was good, the service was pretentious - I didn't feel like it was worth the expense of it.

This place is a phenomenal experience from being seated through dessert! Food is fantastic, the cocktails are unique (and tasty) and the atmosphere is just plain cool! read more

I love the taste of everything I've ever eaten here. Service is always perfect. Some in my party complained about the small portion sizes. To which I say we are chronically overserved, and we're here for quality not quantity, otherwise we'd be at an all you can eat buffet. read more

Terrific restaurant. A friend with great taste recommended it, and the name piqued my interest as a former resident of Cobble Hill, BK. It's pricy by local standards but a steal for anyone coming from a medium to large sized city where you can't find a menu or wine list like this for such a decent price. The setting is cozy and intimate, the servers are friendly but not hanging over you constantly as in some midwest cities (ahem, Madison, WI), and the food is top notch. Most important to me was how creative and wide-reaching the menu was, which made it pretty hard to settle on just a few choices. My favorite dish by far was the crispy Pekin-style duck which has been wandering into my mind at random intervals for the past few weeks. A deconstructed bagel and lox dish also blew us away. Beyond that, halfway through our meal, late night happy hour began, meaning we drank very well without breaking the bank. Definitely stop in here, even if just for a drink. read more

Ate there alone this evening. Business trip. Seated right away and offered the bar or a nice table, took the later. Service was friendly, informed, good. The house special, bourbon old fashion is one of the best I've had. I order them often. That was $10. Had a wonderful beat and burrata cheese salad and an also wonderful charcuterie platter... $13 and $17 or $18 respectively. Generous portions both and very good. They played what I'll call old acoustic plantation blues in the background all evening (not too loud) and i happen to love that. So nice casual vib. I recommend this place. read more

This is amazing place. Just returned from a road trip and ate their twice on the way out and the way back. Attentive smart service Terrific presentation and wonderful food. We were delighted to find this caliber of restaurant in charming Cedar Rapids. A foodie's haven. Great flavors and a unique menu that changes quarterly. Impressive cocktail menu. Fantastic atmosphere- you feel like you are in the likes of NY city or downtown Chicago. Very chic and urban. read more

Extremely over priced food, dishes weren't prepared right, good drinks Upon my first trip to Iowa I was informed this restaurant had top notch drinks and dishes. Drinks were great; I'd recommend stopping by just for appetizers and drinks...but not stay for dinner. The gnocchi wasn't even prepared properly (I tried two different renditions there, the mussel gnocchi appetizer and the pork dish with gnocchi pillows). The potato fluffs were fibrous and not creamy like gnocchi should be. i ordered the endive salad with apple butter which tasted like a mild pastry crumble of brown sugar...no real substance. The salad needed more to it, some mild spice or another element that really allowed you to have a dynamic bite. I also ordered the swordfish....came out fishy tasting with no flavor beyond the grill marks. the pasta that came underneath was ok, nothing to rave about and AGAIN I couldn't pinpoint any particular flavors on the pasta....very meek. My boyfriend ordered the pork which came with gnocchi. Small portion and the meat was chewy even though it was pink. Service was good however delayed...after ordering we didn't see our dishes for over an hour. We were offered a complimentary drink before the dishes came out due to the delay. Mostly I feel Iowa is being taken advantage. The prices are high and the food just isn't worth it. Try somewhere else that takes more pride in the dishes they serve....those price should entice you to really love the dishes but we didn't. I felt cheated. Stop in for a drink and a chat and leave prior to ordering. read more

Stopped in before they were really open for business on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted warmly and welcomed to the bar by Josh. Let's just say that Josh is one rock star bartender. He was very cordial and prepared amazing drinks for all of us. 3 of our group enjoyed drinks suggested from the menu, but the remaining 2 in our group had specially prepared drinks that Josh designed after hearing what we liked. My semi sweet vodka tonic was out of this world. Thanks, Josh for a great afternoon at Cobble Hill. read more

My wife and I went to dinner tonight at Cobble Hill. It was delicious, probably the best in the area. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the drinks well made. I would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Who would think a fine gourmet restaurant would be nestled in a fine old building in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We had the absolute surprise of our lives when visiting Cedar Rapids and dined at Cobble Hill Restaurant. Chef Andy and his wife Carrie have produced a diamond in the rough in this city. Our meals were artfully served with unique pairings of interesting combinations of food. We tried and shared a variety of their appetizers, all bringing rave reviews from our table. The Chilled Sweet Pea and Tarragon Soup with crispy pumpernickel rounds filled with lemon cream was a perfect paring for this flavorful soup. My husband had the Braised Lamb with Gnocchi. It apparently was so delicious he didn't even offer to share it. The Heirloom Roasted Beet Salad would make anyone who doesn't like to eat vegetables want to clean their plate. It was difficult to determine which one we liked best. You can't go wrong with any of them! On to the entrees. Again, they were all winners! The general consensus of our table was that the Braised Berkshire Pork Shoulder was our favorite. It was melt-in-your-mouth goodness!!! For those wanting a meatless dish, the Goat Cheese Ricotta Cannelloni served with Oregon morels, ramps, shaved radish, watercress was scrumptious. Who doesn't like the hard-to-find morel mushroom delicacies. The Sausage Stuffed Amish Chicken with melted leeks, romesco sauce, black garbanzo beans, puffed pasta was to die for. Then we finished off with desserts that were mind boggling good. I could go on and on but will stop here and say, you will not be disappointed with your dining experience at this fine establishment. Cedar Rapids, you are blessed to have such a wonderful restaurant in your neighborhood! Jocelyn Juran Naples, FL read more

My husband and I ate here to celebrate our anniversary. It was fantastic! Our server was very knowledgeable and prompt with drinks. However, what I must really rave over is the food and the presentation. I had the halibut which was divine. My husband had sausage stuffed chicken, which was also wonderful. I would buy the soup by the quart if I could. Everything was beautifully prepared. For dessert, I had the black and blue and I can honestly say it looked like a work of art. I almost didn't want to eat it. Almost! It can be a bit pricey, but knowing that we are supporting a local restaurant where the pride and love they have for the food shines through on every plate makes it okay by me. I would highly recommend Cobble Hill and we look forward to going back soon! read more

The third trip to Cobble Hill. First two times were really good, third time even better. The staff is the most professional group working at a restaurant in central Iowa. The food is getting more interesting while still being delicious. This is Chicago/NY/San Francisco level setting, food and service. read more

I've eaten here twice and it's definitely the best restaurant in cedar rapids. The food is very fresh and the menu is ever changing. The service is always exceptional. The cocktails are also amazing. My best friend is a vegan and they always make her a special meal that is super delicious too. read more

One of the best places I've eaten in Iowa. Unlike restaurants in Iowa City, the waiting staff doesn't freak out on Fridays or weekends when there's an influx of customers and then end up giving you mediocre service. This restaurant is top notch - cocktail, aperitif, entrees, dessert, and digestif. Great interior design and ambiance. It's the type of restaurant you would find in metropolitan areas. Totally worth the $$$$. I was pleasantly surprised I only spent $100 for two. It would typically cost $150-$175 in major cities, and parking on the street is actually available and free. I will definitely come back here again. I'm starting to think that Iowa City is overrated. read more

What is the one question that EVERYONE asks each other when they leave Cobble Hill?..........Where do you want to stop and get a pizza? (Interesting food. Very Small portions. High priced). Hey, $100 later, I'm still hungry. read more

We went for the first time last Valentine's Day and that was my favorite Valentine's dinner. The place is very romantic. They had a special menu that day of five courses and most of them had meat in them. I am a vegetarian, so I called them in advance and ask them if they could prepare me a vegetarian dinner, and they agreed. All I had was delicious, I couldn't finish everything because it was too much. They were bringing each course every 30 or 40 minutes which was great, because it gave us time to enjoy each plate and converse. We ended up spending more than three hours there. The drinks were also very good. It was great. read more
